Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Herald 2005, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Diane Simpson have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:17, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

Matt Connors (Artist) moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Matt Connors (Artist), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Josh Brand
[edit]Hello Herald 2005,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Josh Brand for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

September 2018, and a history of promotional edits, resume building and copyright violations
[edit]One of your recent additions has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 15:33, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising. 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 15:33, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
Hello, Herald 2005. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 15:33, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

The intention of the edits made were purely to provide information about these artists, however it has been made clear that the information provided was often subjective or promotional in tone. - If you want to get back to editing here, you'll have to do a few things. For starters, you need to disclose your (obvious) COI, per WP:DISCLOSE. Second, you need to start writing neutrally and encyclopedically. Can't do resume writing, can't do artsy promotionalism like "Social questions of a philosophical, psychological or economic nature are generally the points of departure for Weber’s work; methodologically, it is always in close contact with conceptualism. The realisations usually bear the marks of subtle irony or anarchic energy, often integrating natural forms like rocks, cacti and fruit into his sculptures. Weber frequently reconfigures exhibition space into immersive and at times bewildering installations, testing the viewer’s perception and control over their surroundings."--which, as you know, doesn't mean anything in real English anyway. Also, you need to write this stuff using secondary, not primary sources. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 20:37, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- User:AGK, this isn't a bad unblock request, though as an English teacher I have to say it leans heavily on passive constructions, which has evasion of responsibility as one of its uses, and also elides the individual who should be operating the account. But if you're so inclined, unblock them--I'm fine with it. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 14:21, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Accept reason:
You have made a paid-contributions disclosure, which I have recorded at the top of your talk page. You have also explained that you now understand our policies about conflicts of interest. Please ensure that when you edit, your contributions reflect the fact Wikipedia is an encyclopedic work – not a commerical website. You may be re-blocked if you resume contributing in a manner not in keeping with our editorial policies.
Please also ensure that your co-workers do not edit from this account. Wikipedia has a one-person, one account policy. Co-workers are welcome to create their own accounts, but they will be required to make a disclosure like yours and will be held to the same standards. See also our connected user accounts policy. The article Djordje Ozbolt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No evidence of notability per WP:ARTIST.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
