Speedy deletion of Letter to the Falashas
[edit]A tag has been placed on Letter to the Falashas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 21:13, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Abraham Kefeli, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://karaim-institute.narod.ru/kenassa/kefelia.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:21, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Hazzan.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Hazzan.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 13:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi!
[edit]Hi! I see you've been making some nice contributions to the articles about Karaite Judaism and I just wanted to say hello to you, and thank you. I've been working on some of the same articles. I really think we need more information about Karaite Judaism on the English language Wikipedia, because IMO it seems to be an important part of preserving and continuing to develop Jewish cultural history. I have quite a bit of experience not only on English language Wikipedia, but on WikiEducator and Wikiversity as well.
I am a Rabbanite by birth and upbringing and Ashkenazi by ethnicity, but I believe in interpreting the Torah according to its plain meaning, don't think the Talmud and other rabbinic works have the force of law and am skeptical of the Mishnah. I grew up affiliated with the Conservative movement, which has made many reforms to the Rabbinic tradition but IMO does not give it enough of a theological challenge or apply a uniform enough standard of interpretation across all passages. Where are you located? I am in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The USA has the largest community of Jews outside Israel, many of whom are non-Orthodox and antirabbinic like me, and I suspect I am not alone in my beliefs. But most of them have not heard of Karaism and English-language Karaite resources are very hard to find. Perhaps we can collaborate on some articles? For example, there still seems to be plenty of bias and misinformation in the articles about early Karaite scholars, which is obvious even to someone who doesn't know the area. I have tried to help a bit with Anan ben David, but I don't know enough to really correct the bias and inaccuracies. There is quite a bit missing from the biographies of the other scholars, most of which have a similar bias.
Also, Szapszal's letter to the Ethiopian Jews (which you added) was really interesting. Do you know how the Ethiopian Jews responded? What do you think of Szapszal, as a person and as a leader? I've read and heard very mixed things about him, but can't find enough unbiased information to decide for myself. Also, did he really write the letter in English? In addition I think the letter belongs on Wikisource, the wiki for primary sources, rather than Wikipedia.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. And don't be intimidated about the messages you've got. I had those same kinds of things too when I was just starting out. --AFriedman (talk) 02:14, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Hayim Malkhasy
[edit]A tag has been placed on Hayim Malkhasy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Articles for deletion nomination of Letter to the Falashas

[edit]Hello, I see you have been creating a number of new biographical articles, many of which have been tagged for deletion. Subjects of articles must satisfy certain guidelines for inclusion in Wikipedia: please read the following for important information: WP:N, WP:V, WP:RS. Copyright status of Abraham Kefeli
[edit]From Coren's talk page: Shalom, I read your notice that you found the similar info that I put into "Abraham Kefeli" in an other site. Thus, I am the member of the International Institute of the Crimean Karaites, and I have all Copy Rights given me by the director of the Institute Prof. Dr. Valentin Kefeli. Moreover, Abraham Kefeli is my friend.
- If you have the permission to use materials copyrighted to third parties, you must first verify this by following the steps lined out at WP:PERMISSION before the material may be opened up to publication on Wikipedia. As we do not verify user identities upon account creation, the onus is on you, the contributor, to demonstrate that you have indeed been granted the permission to re-use the material.
- Further, please be aware that in order to have an article on Wikipedia, its content must be verifiable through multiple independent third party reliable sources. Failing that, the article may be deleted regardless of copyright issues.
- I'd like to suggest that you take some time and review these guidelines on writing your first article, as they will point out the various criteria you are required to follow. You could also try using the article wizard which can guide you through all the needed points to check before posting an article.
- If you need any help, you can create a new section here and add {{helpme}} below, along with your query, and someone will be along shortly to assist you. Alternatively, you can also leave me a message on my talk page. Best, MLauba (talk) 07:03, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Your recent addition to Abraham Kefeli has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Until you can demonstrate that you do have permission to use the material as described above (see WP:PERMISSION), you may not re-add the copyrighted material to the Abraham Kefeli page. Persisting in doing so will lead to a removal of editing privileges the next time. MLauba (talk) 18:23, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi,
The recent AfD discussion about this article concluded that the text of the letter itself should be transwikied to wikisource. In order to do that, the admins need to know "details of the translation, at least a year, preferably the translator's name and basic details as well." Would you happen to have this information so we can go forward? Once the text itself is moved to wikisource, the article itself may be worth rewriting to explain what the letter is about and how it is significant to Karaite Judaism. Thanks, MLauba (talk) 15:30, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Have you been able to address this request? It would be a shame to have the document deleted and have your efforts go to waste. All we need is evidence that the translation is in the public domain. If the translation was from the text quoted, then that is sufficient to progress. Please get back to me on my talk page if you wish for me to assist. billinghurst sDrewth 14:53, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Could you provide the original Russian text to this article please. It is very interesting. Thank you. 109.144.166.27 (talk) 09:26, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

The article Abraham Kefeli has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence of notability; no references
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Geewhiz (talk) 11:30, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
