I deleted this passage:
The most modern researchers critise Seraya Shapshal (religious name - Samuil ben Moshe Szapszal) for his activity while World war, but almost anybody asks himself why did he do it? The answer is very simple for the European Karaites survive in those terrible times of nazi-regime. This letter proves that Shapshal was not the enemy of Sons of Israel.
- for a very simple reason that Seraya ben Mordechai Szapszal/Szapszal (1873-1961) and Samuel ben Moses Shapshal are two different persons; other than that the article is good and presents an important Russian source to Western audience. Dr Mikhail Kizilov, Beer Sheva
Move letter text to Wikisource?
[edit]Wikipedia is an encyclopedia intended to provide articles with original information. I suggest the text of the letter be moved to Wikisource, the wiki for original primary sources. The Wikipedia article should be a summary of the letter with information about its historical context, not the text of the letter itself. We also need more context. --AFriedman (talk) 02:17, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- To move this to WikiSource, we are going to need details of the translation, at least a year, preferably the translator's name and basic details as well. -- billinghurst (talk) 13:09, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I believe User:Hayim Malkhasy added this letter. I don't know about the translation details. --AFriedman (talk) 15:30, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Transwikification
[edit]It's been six years and this article still hasn't been transwikied even though the consensus was to do so.
It also seems weird to discuss this letter without even mentioning whether it was ever answered or not. FiredanceThroughTheNight (talk) 01:53, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
