Hi. The suggestion that I removed your image because you moved the one I uploaded is very petty. I explained myself fully in all the edit summaries. Anyway, the actual reason I removed it is because the caption on the link you provided says "F-35 Lightning II first flight. Lockheed Martin Photo by David Drais." -- so how do you draw the conclusion that is a USAF photo?

You suggest that the image has the same status as the others. You're wrong. The image I uploaded is from www.jsf.mil. The copyright notice says that all images on the site are US Gov/DOD images and hence PD. However it also says those identified as belonging to one of the partner companies are copyrighted to them. The image I uploaded is not identified as belonging to Lockheed or any other company. Mark83 05:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes it's exactly the same image, however I explained above whatever is identified as belonging to one of the partner companies is copyrighted to them and not public domain. If you look in this gallery for your image (it's centre col, last row). Put your mouse over it to read the caption it ends "Image courtesy of Lockheed Martin". Mark83 12:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes it is a pity, however pretty soon there will be many USAF/USN/USMC images, all of which will be useable. I too noticed that the image I uploaded is not in the gallery it once was. The HK417 in the Norwegian army.

Hello. To give you some proof that Norway is using the rifle; Norway just bought several 417's to be used as sniper rifles along with the 416. Thanks for showing me that knew one and also i cant seem to figure out how yo get the baltimore userboxe first. when i see the page it shows like the system of a down userbox before the others even though when i look at the edit this page section it seems like it shouldnt do that. Revert on M16

Hi. I noticed your edit here. Contrary to your edit summary ('Asams10 is correct, need to finish discussion first'), Asams10 is incorrect, and the discussion seems to have finished. I'm not sure if you are aware there is a guideline governing the use of flags (which this article is currently not adhering to) and also a centralised discussion on whether the flag icon is needed in the article. I can see no consensus there to retain the flag in the article, and I wonder why you reverted to the "flagged" version, incidentally restoring several other minor errors to the article? It doesn't seem helpful in a situation like this and it might be that you would be better contributing to the centralised discussion than reverting another user's good-faith edits like this. Also, perhaps you weren't aware of this, but Asams10 has made it clear that he is going to "bow out of this discussion". User:I already forgot has also indicated the intention to "step back for a while" from the debate. This leaves you as the only person currently insisting on the retention of the flag. If this really is your position and you have not just made a mistake, it would be interesting to hear what encyclopedic purpose you feel the flag serves in the article. Another user has reverted my removal of the flag icon and insists that, as "Nobody from the firearms community but me made statements", the apparent consensus there lacks validity (see also Talk:M16 rifle#Flag icon). Hi I noticed you revrted almost the entire SA80 article back to it's non-standardized, error-riddled opinion-like nature. Have you read any of of the Military History or Wiki Firearms guidelines regarding hardware? It's supposed to be an encyclopedic-quality entry that contains only hard, cold facts, technical detail and hard data. We established that a firearms article main body will contain:

• Brief intro.
• Development history
• Design details
• Variants
• Users

The criticisms or user opinions DO NOT belong in an encyclopedic entry, and that is the goal of WIkipedia is it not? Please go through the guidelines, templates etc. I will revert your change. What may I ask was incomplete about the version I had edited? If you insist on remaining with the criticism section, it belongs on the talk page. Check my profile to see my contributions, all my articles transformed messy and chaotic articles such as this one into an organized, standardized encyclopedia quality entries with the overwhelming approval of the Wiki firearms community. MEU(SOC) Pistol

Hayden,

There have been several "versions" over the years. Also, it's only been since 2001 or so that the gun has become hot outside of the Corps so now all the custom 1911 smiths are building them "to Spec". The "specs" seem to vary between armorers, too. I have an older version from when I first enlisted. No light rail, different type of Grip safety (MGW), BarSto Match bbl, Videcki trigger, and although it originally had pachmayr grips it now wears a custom set of double diamond Pau Ferro grips with USMC medallions in the center. The one pictured in the article is similar...built on a US Property marked frame but with the beavertail grip safety, the SureFire weapon light, Gemtech Lanyard, Wilson Magazine, and the G10 Simonich Gunner Grips. I know my pistols and the one in the USMC photo have MGW hammers made of A2 Toolsteel. Actually the only thing it is lacking are the Novak sights. I'm on the fence about replacing them as that pistol saw service in WW2 (it's marked "Property of US Army" and according to Colt was built in 1941) and has the forge marks on the front of the slide from the heat treat they did on those prior to service in the Pacific. Don't know if this helps and Wikipedia does not seem to want to know about it if you're writing from personal experience. Bushmaster M4 Type Carbine

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Bushmaster M4 Type Carbine, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Thanks for pointing out that renaming the section of the Kimber Custom article to "ICQB, Warrior, and Desert Warrior" broke all the links to that section. I should have thought of that. The reason I tagged the article you created was that on the face of it, it did seem like it was promoting the company that made the weapon. AR15 article

Hayden120, it isn't even so much about world.guns.ru having a link on Wikipedia. It's what appears to me to be a very arbitrary policy. I added links to pages on my site back in 2004, as did the owner of world.guns.ru. Those links stayed on Wiki until sometime last year, when some Wiki member decided to go on a tear and remove all links to my site. Nevermind that a lot of people came from Wiki to view those pages and that, judging from my stats, they appeared to find content they liked, because they hung around for awhile and viewed other content pages.

Did you notice the articles that I have on my site, articles that are useful for shotgunners, pistol shooters, etc? No commercial gain for me by having them there. In fact, I paid for many of those myself. As for the gun pages on my site having content that was "liberally" lifted from manufacturers' sites, I received written permission from every manufacturer on my site to use their photos and information.

World.guns.ru is covered with advertising, from top to bottom. And I know for a fact that the owner makes no small amount of money by selling text links to ImpactGuns.com within the "content" pages.

But my site is bad.

Go figure.

HK45?

How did you score the image of the HK45? Any more where that came from? Any chance you think it will pass the copyright Nazis, as you're familiar I had a bunch of my FN images removed for not following "proper" OTRS procedures, through my permission log was identical to your email exchange with FN about the SCAR etc. Koalorka (talk) 13:19, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

That's an awesome catalogue, do you think you could re-use some other images from the brochure under fair use? We could really use the image of the HK69, GMG, UMP and several MP5 variants. I'll give the FN and IWI images another try with the OTRS group. The MP7 deal fell through as the dealer was unable to secure the guns from his source at a reasonable price. Gun Politics in Australia

An un-registered user keeps editing in a statement in the Gun politics in Australia article to the effect that "guns can be used for lawful self-defence in Australia". I've tried engaging him in discussion to the effect that the situations in which a gun could reasonably be used for self-defence in Australia are so limited as to be almost non-existent, but to no avail. As someone who has reverted this poster's statement for the same reasons I'm trying to discuss it on the talk page, do you think you could pop past the talk page and maybe add something to the discussion if it's not too much trouble? For clarifications, I reverted vandalism by one user here, then I later reverted two disputed changes to what was the current established article here and here. At least two other editors also reverted TownDown's edits. TownDown did not properly use the edit summary for many of his/her edits, and made many reverts.[3][4][5][6]

After the map was returned yet again, I stopped reverting because I did not want to break the 3RR. However, TownDown began to hound and threaten me with rather unrelated warning templates such as 'defamation' and 'using improper humor', and then continued replacing these comments even after I chose to remove them.

Even after I thought the issue was resolved, he/she reported me for 'vandalism', which as far as I know I did not commit. Why is this editor able to get away with such disruptive editing, and yet I am punished for doing nothing wrong? Were my edits even reviewed before I was blocked? Blocks are preventative, not punitive - this block wasn't a punishment, it was to stop the issue from escalating. It was already resolved. The edit war had ceased and I had made a productive edit, separate from the issue, on the article. You don't consider this vandalism? I'm sorry, but that's how I saw it. It was unexplained and apparently counter-productive. You seem to be nitpicking to find a fault in my editing, when other editors have clearly broken the 3RR. I am also sorry for my incivility, but I find it incredibly frustrating and insulting when I am hounded by a person who accuses me of something I did not commit, especially defamation. It wouldn't matter if the article was unlocked and I was unblocked, I still wouldn't revert the user's additions. As I said, I respect the 3RR and I believe I only made 2 genuine reverts. I am not quite sure what this so called nationalism is—the fact that Backslash Forwardslash and I both come from the same country is pure coincidence, there are many Australian editors on Wikipedia. What concerns me most however is this: "but he tells lies all the time, for example he told me about a previous consensus justifying his reverts". Because my first edit was reverting another editor's vandalism, whether or not that was their intention, that's how I perceived it. Secondly, what exactly is your motivation? I am unblocked. Vandalism is not included in the 3RR, although interpretation of what exactly constitutes vandalism can sometimes be ambiguous. In this instance, the edits appeared counter-productive and akin to vandalism, so I reverted them. Reporting an admin on his decision making would be bad faith on your part. Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Netherlands: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. "officially recognized"

You undid revision 306060104 by Fingon1 ( "Czech:: Celovec") from the Klagenfurt article with the argument "Unlike Slovene, Czech is not officially recognised". The deletion is absolutely okay with me, but just for argument's sake I should like two point out two things:

1. In Austria the Slovene name for Klagenfurt is not officially recognized either. However, that name is in everyday oral and written use by the Slovene ethnic group that has been living in Carinthia for longer than the present German-speaking majority population. In Slovenia "Celovec" is generally used, but does this make ist "official"?
2. On the other hand, there is neighbouring Ljubljana, which until 1918 was officially "Laibach" and which is still referred to as "Laibach" in Austria, a name which doesn't come up until in the chapter Etymology and Symbol it is mentioned as old German. Milan, which was Austrian (remember the provocative VERDI, VERDI - shouts in the Milan Scala opera house meaning Vittorio Emmanuele Re D'Italia?), is always called "Mailand" in German, and Venice is always Venedig. But have a look at the entry Kaliningrad: You'll find “(Russian: Калининград, Lithuanian: Karaliaučius, German: Königsberg, Polish: Królewiec)”. Or Trieste: “(Italian: Trieste; Slovene: Trst; Croatian: Trst; German: Triest)”. Or: Bratislava: “historically Pressburg (Hungarian: Pozsony, Slovak: Prešporok”. Yet "Clanfurt" as used for Klagenfurt in neighbouring Furlan language is not given in the English article. I don't really see any consistency, do you? - :? :) - Marschner (talk) 19:47, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Okay, the Slovene name may not be officially recognised, but I do believe the Carinthian Slovenes are a recognised minority in Carinthia, and there are a few bilingual signs even. But yes, I am not particularly keen on listing places in half-a-dozen languages that have no recent or substantial significance in the region, at least not within the lead of the article. In my opinion, the common English name of a town or city should be given priority, then the standard local name. The problems with User:Yorkshirian's style of editing, are, firstly, that he makes a number of basic spelling, grammatical and stylistic errors; secondly, that he has a very strong POV, particularly against what he perceives as "left wing" and/or "nationalist" bias; and, thirdly, that he tends to defend most his edits with excessive vigour, edit warring when necessary. (In case you don't know, he came off a year-long block quite recently.) I'll raise some of these points on the talk page, but I'll try and minimise my further contributions to minor corrections until there is some consensus on the talk page in relation to his more major changes. Vienna

Vienna does not have a capital because it is a city and a state rolled into one. There is no second city in the state of Vienne. No worries! I wasn't sure how to sort it out at first either, but I had a look at a few other similar articles for an idea. The only peer review comment I'm not so sure about is 'I would suggest moving "Demography" to right after "Geography"'; most other similar articles (Australia, Belgium, etc.) follow the format here at WikiProject Countries, which suggests that the 'Economy' section should fit between 'Geography' and 'Demographics'. However, it appears that this format is generally followed loosely; the current layout ('Geography', 'Demography') should be fine. Hayden120 (talk) 04:03, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
