Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:ViktorSotnikov.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:ViktorSotnikov.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jon Kolbert (talk) 05:17, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:05, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Translations

Hi. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but please refrain now from mass creating low standard and unattributed translations from other Wikipedias. It actually creates more work for other editors than takes you to create them. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:47, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

@Kudpung: I understand, pardon me for the messy translations. I'll try to use less machine translation in the future. In the meantime, I'll try and translate information for already existing pages which need it (hopefully correctly this time), if that does not bother other editors. - Haunted Spy (talk)
The general consensus is that machine translations should never be used in mainspace. Do machine translations by all means, but keep them in Draft space or your user space until they are cleaned up and fit to go. If you're not bi- or trilingual like I am, cleaning up can take longer than a translation typed in real time the way I usually work. That is not to say I don't use machine translations at all myself - sometimes it just saves me (most) of the typing. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 17:16, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Nadir Sedrati moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Nadir Sedrati, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Hello, Haunted Spy. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Franz Stockreiter, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Translations

Hi Haunted Spy, Many thanks for your effort translating articles from other languages to English Wikipedia. This is much appreciated. As part of your work, please review Wikipedia:Translation for the correct procedure. I would like to stress that translations are derivative works and must be identified by a tag, see the above guideline. In addition, please note that English Wikipedia as its own guidelines and further work may be needed that is not necessarily present in other Wikipedia language editions. Notability guidelines may differ, but importantly, sourcing and inline citation requirements may be different. Most of your recent creations lack, see WP:IC. Kindly review your articles for proper inline citations. If you have any questions, pls let me know. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 10:58, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Haunted Spy,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Sewer Murders should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sewer Murders .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Ulrich Schmidt moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ulrich Schmidt, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Sources

Hi, Haunted Spy, can you please respond to my many messages. You have been repeatedly asked not to create articles without clear references, preferably WP:INLINECITED. Are you clear that 'weblinks' or 'external links' just means 'suggestions for further reading'? Please see Help:Referencing for beginners if you need help. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 15:55, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

@Boleyn: Hello Boleyn! Yes, I am aware that they do not count as references, but when I translate something I just translate the page as it is. If the page doesn't have references, I instead make the weblinks into references. However, if that for some reason is not possible, I just don't add any references for that. And I apologize for that (and for not responding). I hope that kinda clears up any issues. Take care! Haunted Spy (talk)
Thanks for responding. I don't think it helps to add unreferenced articles to English Wikipedia - it would be better to concentrate on adding only articles with sources or finding a source. These will now make a lot of work for other editors and we have no idea if the information on German Wikipedia is accurate or not, if we have no references. Boleyn (talk) 06:16, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
I understand, will focus on articles with sources. Haunted Spy (talk)

Hi, I'm SkyGazer 512. Haunted Spy, thanks for creating Juhani Aataminpoika!

SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 13:45, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

You seem to know Russian - can you help with WikiProject Intertranswiki?

Hi. WikiProject Intertranswiki is really short of translators, and since you just created an article from our to-do list (it was also on WiR's to-do list), do you think you can write some of our missing articles? Thanks.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 18:56, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

@PlanespotterA320: I did not even realise I did that, was it the article about Nikolay Shubin? Anyways, I appreciate the offer, but I most politely decline, as I simply have no interest in currently writing any articles aside from the ones I've already chosen. Sorry, and hope you find some other translator to help you! Haunted Spy (talk)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Oscar Ray Bolin (serial killer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://soldierexecutionerprolifer2008.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/oscar-ray-bolin-january-22-1962-to.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of serial killers by number of victims, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Bunting (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:57, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello, Haunted Spy,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username TheLongTone and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Joseph Barnett (Jack the Ripper suspect) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joseph Barnett (Jack the Ripper suspect) .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheLongTone}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, Haunted Spy,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Onel5969 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Clarence Whitfield, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Onel5969}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
