- Thanks for the additional pointers @Hoary, this is my first article that I'm trying to create, so I'm still getting used to the whole process and the rules. I will try and find additional independent resources.
- I'm curious if the notability rules have changed since the articles for the other EV routes have been created, for example the EV1 The Atlantic Coast Route or EV3 The Pilgrims Route. Both of which only cite either the eurovelo.com website, or in the EV1's case the La Vélodyssée website which is the official website of the French portion of the EV1. - I'm not at all surprised to read this about the article EV1 The Atlantic Coast Route or the article EV3 The Pilgrims Route. I havaen't looked at either, but I have looked at the article EuroVelo. A fair amount of work has gone into this -- though (cough) not enough to have worried anyone about the conversion of thousands of kilometres into exact numbers of miles -- but it's sourced to ECF and perhaps the occasional ECF-unrelated tourism website, plus a single article (since removed) on bikeradar.com. (The last-mentioned lives on, elsewhere. I suppose I should update the link accordingly. I'll do so later today.) What this means is that some editor could send the article EuroVelo -- of course and/or the articles on its constituent routes, and perhaps other articles besides (I don't dare look at the one on ECF) -- to "AFD"; that is, propose its (or their) deletion. That editor should have first looked for sources and not found them, but perhaps didn't bother. If the sources exist, any editor can point to them or (better) use them to fortify the besieged article, but this is often tedious as the editor who proposed deletion tends to stick to their guns. (Graceful withdrawals, such as that here, are rare.) Far better to preempt this with sound referencing. ¶ And no, policy hasn't changed; it's just that it's taken seriously these days. Articles much worse than that on EuroVelo are common. Gaze on this thing with amazement and horror (or perhaps amusement). ¶ I hope that you're not disheartened about the EV4 draft and that you can source it well and resubmit the result successfully. If Google shows nothing usable, you could see if the Internet Archive has books, magazines, etc, that might help. (It certainly has a lot of material mentioning EuroVelo, though I fear that many of these are mere mentions.) There's also Google Books, of course. -- Hoary (talk) 00:11, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
