[edit]Hello, I'm Helpful Raccoon. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to IWF Promotions have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. - Can you elaborate more on why you'd think the links would be inappropriate for Wiki? I looked in the guidelines & do not see where I added anything wrong. I've just been updating my former company to update some deaths & people & link to current owners. Thanks. Halbeisen80023 (talk) 06:43, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Per our guidelines on external links, linking to social media should be avoided. Linking to websites unrelated to the article subject should also be avoided. In general, there are very few cases when external links should be added to articles. You seem to have a conflict of interest with the subject, so you should avoid making direct changes to the article and instead make edit requests on the talk page. - I don’t think it’s necessary to add that someone died, as it isn’t really relevant to the article subject. Something like “RIP 2022” is considered to be promotional language and should be avoided. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 19:31, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Halbeisen80023. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page IWF Promotions, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. C F A 💬 14:20, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
