Ottoman Dynasty

[edit]

Hi. Recently you edited Template:Ottoman Dynasty and changed some sections. Actually you separated "Mothers of the Ottoman Sultan" to two different sections named "Valide Sultans" and "Haseki Sultans". In this way you separate women by their titles which seems to be a good idea but unfortunately some mothers of the sultans were neither Haseki Sultan nor Valide Sultan. What are you going to do with them? How can you include their names in that template? Keivan.fTalk 15:29, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You said " In this way you separate women by their titles which seems to be a good idea but unfortunately some mothers of the sultans were neither Haseki Sultan nor Valide Sultan. What are you going to do with them? How can you include their names in that template?" Who do you mean? I think I've separated them correctly. Hafidh Wahyu P (talk) 11:45, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Halime Hatun, Malhun Hatun, Nilüfer Hatun, Gülçiçek Hatun, Devlet Hatun, Emine Hatun, Hüma Hatun, Sittişah Hatun and Gülbahar Hatun were mothers of the Ottoman sultans that were neither haseki nor valide. Of course some of them lived longer than their husbands like Nilüfer Hatun, Emine Hatun and Hüma Hatun and I assume that they were Valide Hatun at least as they were mothers of the Ottoman sultans who were alive during their reigns. Anyway, all I want to say is that the names of these women can't be included in the template by that way. So how are you going to add their names? Keivan.fTalk 07:19, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I never add their names in Valide Sultan template. In fact, I removed it. It had been there before. Hafidh Wahyu P (talk) 15:02, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
First of all please answer my messages here, because I'll see it as I have added your page to my watchlist. Anyway I think you misunderstood my previous message. All I want to say is that the names of those women should be added to that template, because they were mothers of the Ottoman sultans. But by the current form of this template it's impossible. However the names of three of them (Nilüfer Hatun, Emine Hatun and Hüma Hatun) can be added to the Valide Sultan section, as they were alive during their sons' reigns. I don't know what to do with the rest of them. Is there any way to "add" their names again? Keivan.fTalk 08:02, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think, NO. There were not Valide Sultan. The title was first used in the 16th century for Ayşe Hafsa Sultan, consort of Selim I and mother of Suleiman the Magnificent. You can read in Valide Sultan or Ayşe Hafsa Sultan section. And then, before 16th, mothers or consorts of Ottoman Sultan never held the title "Sultan" after their given name. Yes, perhaps their role as same as Valide Sultan, but there were not Valide Sultan. The title of Valide Sultan has never been known before the 16th century. Last, Valide Hatun or mehd-i ülya different with Valide Sultan. However, their name included in "mother of Ottoman Sultan" template. So, it's no problem. Hafidh Wahyu P (talk)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Jahanara Begum may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Roxelana

[edit]

Hi. After checking Roxelana's article I realized that you have made huge differences in this article. Are you sure about your contributions or have you checked all of the sources? Keivan.fTalk 16:20, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

my contributions based on Galina Yermolenko's journal, "Roxolana: "The Greatest Empresse of the East". I choose this journal because it is quite neutral. Previously article made Hurrem most responsible with execution of Ibrahim, Mustafa, and Kara Ahmed, even not based on first hand sources. Beside, Hurrem's role in foreign policy and charities don't get more attentions, even this is based on reliable sources, example: her letter for Sigismund II. Btw, Hurrem of year of marriage based on this journal too. Sorry for my english Hafidh Wahyu P (talk) 14:53, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I just wanted to make sure that the information that has been added is based on reliable sources. Keivan.fTalk 13:25, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
