Welcome!

Hello, Gyldwiz, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! {{helpme}} Please help me upload a photo or otherwise add a photo. I am not authorized. My article needs a photo.

article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfin_Rabbits photo: http://www.bryngyld.com/Montana.JPG Gyldwiz (talk) 18:46, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have to be autoconfirmed in order to upload a photo. That means your account has to be at least 4 days old and you have to have made 10 edits. It appears that right now your account is older than 4 days, but you only have 8 edits. After you make 2 more edits, you'll be able to upload a photo. I don't know if the photo you linked is usable, however, because the copyright status of it is unclear. Do you own that picture?
Also, you might wanna take a look at WP:1ST for your new article though, and WP:LAYOUT. It needs a bit of formatting (articles typically don't have words with all caps unless it is an acronym) and clean up. Killiondude (talk) 18:56, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can also create an account at Wikimedia Commons and upload the image there if it is not copyrighted. Once it is in Commons, you can use the image in any Wikipedia article. Another alternative is to request someone else upload the image at Wikipedia:Images for upload. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 19:03, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} Yes, I took the photo of my own rabbit. How do I make it clear that it's mine?

You need to upload the photo. Go to Commons:Upload, and follow the instructions there. Note the filename.
Then you can add it to your article by putting [[file:filename.jpg|thumb]].
If you have any problems doing this, let me know by using another helpme, and we can do it for you. You could also talk to us live.
Good luck,  Chzz  ►  22:58, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} Yes, I took the photo of my own rabbit. How do I make it clear that it's mine?

(e/c) Hi Gyldwiz. I'm not quite sure if you are asking about tagging the image as you own so that you retain its copyright, or if you're asking how you show it's your own for purposes of releasing it into the public domain or under another free license. If the former, we can't use it. All our content must be licensed under a free license, or be proper fair use, which this would not be. If the latter, go to the Wikimedia Commons (not here), (sign up up for an accoumt, which should take seconds), go to the link in the side menu for "upload file" on the left hand side of the page under "participate", on the page you reach, click on the link for "It is entirely my own work", follow the instructions at the upload form you reach. You probably want to choose "public domain" in the licensing menu. Once you have uploaded the image there you can immediately use it here. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:10, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as American Association of Sporting Events for Rabbits, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Greedyhalibut (talk) 21:51, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} Why did you call this a blatant hoax, or an experiment? This is a true group. Look at the Yahoo group that was linked to it. There are U.S. members and members from Finland, Denmark that are mentoring the U.S. association. The article about Rabbit Show Jumping was also linked. This is real. Sporting Events for rabbits are true. Why don't you do your research before making fun of something you don't know about? How can I defend something if you don't ask me? Please tell me specifically if I did something wrong or neglected to include something. Gyldwiz (talk) 03:17, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because the article is now deleted, I can't see the content, so I don't know why it was labeled a hoax or an experiment. You should ask either the user who requested the speedy deletion, Ged UK, or the administrator who deleted it, Greedyhalibut, your questions on their talk pages. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 14:36, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I marked it for speedy deletion because a Google search for "American Association of Sporting Events for Rabbits" produced only 1 hit, the Wikipedia article in question. A Google search for "sporting events for rabbits" (without quotes) produced nothing relevant (breeding articles and the like). The other links in the article did not refer, as far as I could tell, to "sporting events for rabbits". No doubt, I could be wrong, so I won't mark a recreation for speedy - it should go through the full deletion review process, if it still seems not notable.Greedyhalibut (talk) 17:08, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see my error. The name "sporting events" is new. The purpose being to unify the major rabbit "things" Rabbit Hopping, Show jumping, and Rabbit agility into one venue. I will write it again using links to those things. Of course I didn't save a copy, since I didn't know about speedy deletion... learning by trial and ERROR is fun... NOT.

Hi there. I deleted the article pretty well for the reasons that it was nominated. However, it is also a copyright violation of http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/AASERabbits/, so it couldn't stay in that format. The deletion for as a hoax appears to be an error, so please accept my apologies for that. I'm happy to restore the article to your userspace so you can work on it there. However, it can't go onto the mainspace in it's current form as it is a copyright violation. I suspect that you wrote the YahooGroups message as well, but posting it on there means that Yahoo owns the copyright. Let me know if you want me to userfy this for you. I'll watch your talk page for a reply. --GedUK  07:10, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'm getting it... slowly. I just rewrote it so it is not the same as the Yahoo group page. I thought putting the copyright message at the bottom of the Yahoo group page covered that. (sigh).

Yeah, sorry, the site and content belongs to yahoo I'm afraid. --GedUK  16:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated American Association of Sporting Events for Rabbits, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/American Association of Sporting Events for Rabbits. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. MuZemike 07:00, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikify means to make an article more encyclopedic. The more reliable sources an article has and the more it supports a fair point of view, the better.--The Legendary Sky Attacker 20:29, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gyldwiz!

[edit]

I think I understand what the problem was with Rabbit show jumping and I hope I fixed that. I think that if American_Association_of_Sporting_Events_for_Rabbits is merged with rabbit show jumping and you write a new section on other rabbit sports and expand that long enough you can rename it to (for example) Rabbit sports and use Rabbit show jumping as a redirect. Also, I must stress the fact we do want an article about all the rabbit sports (and it's OK to mention and link the organisations there), but not about the organisation(s) alone. Kwiki (talk) 21:27, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kwiki has done some great work here, above. Gyldwiz, please help us to develop Rabbit show jumping, and allow the other article to be removed; this is the best chance for improving the coverage of the sport. Any sourced information that you are able to provide would be very useful - more pictures would help too. If I can help, please ask me. Best,  Chzz  ►  15:43, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to find more information on all the sports and photos, too. Unfortunately, I'm only the clerk assigned to do this. I don't know all about each sport or have my own photos I'm free to post. I have a link to the webpage under construction. By the way, none of the competitions in the U.S. or Europe call it Show Jumping. Most call it Hopping. Agility, cross-country, freestyle and the other sports are different. I will add more links as I get them. Thank you for helping. Oops. Never mind, I see it is gone. I give up. Gyldwiz (talk) 15:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have moved Sporting Events for Rabbits to User:Gyldwiz/hutch. We do not need a separate title. A redirect at sporting events for rabbits to rabbit show jumping is all that we need. (Create a redirect at Sporting Events for Rabbits if you must.) You could discuss your draft at Talk:Rabbit show jumping but why not be bold and just replace rabbit show jumping with your text? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 16:48, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think I was following suggestions from a previous attempt. Most of us find the title "Rabbit Show Jumping" slightly offensive. That specific rabbit sport is called Rabbit Hopping. There are many other categories. I was told to write a new article with a title that would be more appropriate.Gyldwiz (talk) 17:33, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your suggestion to rewrite Rabbit Show Jumping does not solve the problem of that name being inappropriate. Rabbit Show Jumping is a joke. The sport of Rabbit Hopping, agility, etc. should not be under a name that makes fun of them. It was suggested that I write an article about rabbit sports so that it could become the main article and redirect Rabbit Show Jumping to it *1*. It didn't work, obviously. How should I have done it?Gyldwiz (talk) 20:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For goodness sake! Is it too difficult for you to move rabbit show jumping to a more appropriate title? Or what was preventing you doing *1* above? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 02:43, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I humbly admit that it must be too difficult for me to move it. The rewrite with a new title was my effort to move it. I am floundering around trying to do stuff, but don't know how to do very many things at all. Oooo. Maybe I did it! I guess I'll find out if I did it wrong.... soon enough.Gyldwiz (talk) 19:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Swedish Hare has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails notability, not recognised by any breed club based on my search, results quickly become irrelevant to this supposed breed (Assuming it's even a breed), contradicts itself with if the 'Elfin' is a separate breed or not and searching for Elfin has even worse results. Only sites I could find mentioning them are low quality sites that produce articles on as many 'breeds' as possible and may have just taken information from Wikipedia.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
