[edit]Silly, but not a hoax. It is a non-notable organisation. I think the article Rabbit Show Jumping (sic) should stay but this one should be deleted. Kwiki (talk) 03:43, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Of course, we realize that some people will think a rabbit organization is silly. Rabbit Show Jumping is actually a silly term to us and is not synonymous with rabbit sports. We are quite serious about the sport and do not participate to amuse others. If offends me that is seems OK to the masses to call our sport "laughable" and no editor sees this as insulting. I sincerely request that you do not delete the article so serious new rabbit hoppers can find the information they need to get started.Gyldwiz (talk) 13:31, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

- I hope I can explain to you why I said that (I am not a native speaker). On the internet there are meme's like lolcatz en bunnies with funny captions and/or pancakes on their head. Therefore (and because of the funny way they hop) all bunnies (and all things related to them) are silly by definition. The word "silly" is (in this case) not ment as an insult, I mean "silly" in a Monty Pythonesk way.. funnylooking. I think you will understand why 10 rabbits hopping around looks funny. Compare the motion of a rabbit to the motion of (for example) a mouse and you'll understand (this is one of the reasons why most people prefer rabbits over cavia's). Kangaroos are also silly by the way. I know its a highly efficient mode of transportation developed over millions of years of evolution, but it still looks silly.
- Ofcourse I looked up Rabbit Show Jumping on youtube and "silly" was my first conclusion (its horse jumping without jockeys and with bunnies instead of horses - modify a "normal" concept like horsejumping or climbing and perform it a bit different than people would normally do, then talk seriously about it and you are silly). I heard there might be some differences between the word silly in British-English (monty python) and American English. The dictionary definition is way more negative than in internet slang. Most Monty Python-fans agree that silly is quite positive.
- I like rabbits. A long time ago a friend of mine who has rabbits went on vacation so we had to take care of em and it was real fun.
- I think I understand why the term "Rabbit Show Jumping" is silly to you, that is why I wrote (sic), rabbits do not jump for show! However, if I think about "American Association of Sporting Events for Rabbits" I have to say that it is impossible to arrange a "sporting event" for animals. In general people don't call movements by an animal a "sport" even if they do it for fun. A human sporter will try to improve his record, a bunny will try to get the reward at the finish faster. It is hard to explain this philosophical difference, but an animal having fun or moving around is not a sport, even though some animals are smart enough to understand you want them to move as quickly as possible or jump as high as they can.
- It is very hard for me to explain this in English, but it is wrong to project human idea's (like sport) and emotions on animals (even though the animals might have the same idea or emotion they experience it very differently). Some people who have pigeons think it is a sport to drive them 100km away and then wait till they return to the nest. For the pigeons it is NOT a sport, they have a built-in GPS that works on earthmagnetism, and they will just go home because their instinct tells them to, not because they want to beat the world record.
- The reason why I said that the article should be deleted is because the organisation it is about is non-notable. In this case this means that there are no reliable sources that give an indication of notability and we need verifiability.
- Instead of writing an article on the organisation it is better to write about the sport itself (if it is different from Rabbit Show Jumping). In that article you can mention the organisation too, but the focus will be on the fun things you can do with rabbits, not the organisations that make up rules for them.
- Please note: I can not delete articles, I am just another editor like you and everyone else. Wikipedia is a democracy and some users become moderators but I am not one of them. If I wanted to I could've proposed to have this article deleted, then we would've had a discussion on the articles for deletion list and then a moderator would decide if it should be kept or deleted, but I didn't. This is just my humble opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
- It was not my intention to offend anyone, so I apologize if I did, but what I said was correct.
