Poor block(s)
EdTestCommons02 was a poor block and disappointing to see. I've unblocked per their valid unblock request. — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 19:55, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- @TheresNoTime: The account came up when I did a series of CUs. Their WMF account is still locked. Their boss's WMF account contains no information at all. I have an email out to T&S trying to confirm what is going. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 20:01, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry Guerillero, but you could have sent the emails and waited for replies prior to blocking — what's done is done, I've conveyed my minor irritation and we can move on JBranaa (WMF)'s (lack of) userpage is problematic, I'll certainly grant you that. I do wish it was policy that all WMF accounts (and by extension, testing accounts) must have the bare minimum in way of job title/role/contact information. Maybe that can be a constructive outcome from all of this? — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 20:07, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- @TheresNoTime: At a minimum, all of these test accounts need to disclose:
- That they are running tests on behalf of the WMF
- Who owns them
- To comply with WP:SOCKLEGIT. The owner needs to have an unlocked WMF account with a name and contact information. The fact that a contractor has a locked main account for no longer working at the WMF is a farce. I am forced to choose between a 0 edit account claiming to be a staff member and the lock log. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 20:13, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- I stand by the other accounts I blocked as Confirmed undisclosed accounts. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 20:22, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
The fact that a contractor has a locked main account for no longer working at the WMF is a farce.
— I can't disagree with that, but I'm relying on the manager's clarification and my request to them to ensure they have a Meta user page. I'm not about to run around undoing all the blocks, if only because there is a more systemic issue at play, and I'm certainly not the right checkuser to handle this. — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 20:25, 1 September 2022 (UTC)- @TheresNoTime: They aren't CU blocks, but I would hope that you take a look at the data before unblocking the rest. Most all of the accounts are in the same small range, within a short time of each other -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 20:31, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @TheresNoTime, my apologies for the lack of user information on both my page and the others involved (I will make sure mine is updated). I can attest to EdTestCommons02 legitimacy. He is a member of the Quality and Test Engineering team and we are working to address his locked main account. We will be reviewing both this instance and the one involving Aborba and putting in place the necessary changes to avoid similar circumstances in the future. In the meantime, please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. JBranaa (WMF) (talk) 23:05, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter
The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.
At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The judges are Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. Hi. Your block of 2001:8004/32 has done so well that now 2001:8003:B1B8:BF00:689E:D8CE:BF9F:1917 is complaining about it here, so you may want to block 2001:8003::/32 too. — Jeff G. ツ 16:45, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Guerillero, could you take a peek at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Zhomron and weigh in if you notice anything? Elizium23 (talk) 05:19, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Elizium23: As a CU, I can not tie an IP to an account. You are going to need to build a case based on behavioral evidence. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 11:32, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
