A tag has been placed on E. W. Everson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DMacks 22:28, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Having done a little research, as it appears that EW Everson held a notable position, I have removed the speedy deletion notice. The previous editor that placed it was correct to do so, however, as it appeared to contain a copyright violation (whether it was or not). I have created a stub article which you can now expand. You would be best advised to summarise the biography which you mention above. You can certainly cite the account, although it is obviously difficult to ensure its verifiability. You will need however, to maintain a neutral tone to the article at all times without railing against "socialists" and "revisionists" as you did above (and in the IVA article, which I've reverted). Ironically, my political leanings are fairly socialist themselves - strange how things work out sometimes :) EliminatorJR Talk 23:40, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance! This is all new to me.
[edit]I will get this up and running. Please check back for more insights and suggestions are very much appretiated! Is there a better way to suggest revisions on the Independent Voters Association link? It is really amazing how politics of a hundred years ago find themselves repeating themselves today. Thanks again for the assistance. You would be very suprised how little of a trace there actually is of Great Grandfather's political life. I really appretiate your giving me a chance to tell his story.--Grizzlygroundswell 23:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
More info
[edit]As regards linking to your files, yes, you'll have to host them on your own website. Then you can provide links to them in the main article or in an "External links" section.
So you can test your article out, I've created you a test page which you can mess about with to your heart's content because its in your own userspace. You can load it here User:Grizzlygroundswell/test, and I've copied in the EW Everson article so you can edit it. When you've got it looking how you want, message me on my talk page and I'll have a look at it before we copy it back onto the "real" page. EliminatorJR Talk 08:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
PS as regards the rise of socialism in Britain, there's a great Wikipedia article, History of socialism in Great Britain. Oh, and I've put the link to EW back in the IVA page.
