Greetings
[edit]Greetings, this is my first attempt at Wikipedia so I am learning as I go here. I think I have a great story of a great American who is also my Great-Grandfather. One man who alone stood in the eye of the Townley Tornado and brought an end to the great North Dakots Socialist experiment. He did not do it alone but with many just as brave souls. My hopes here is write him back into a history the socialists tried to write him out of. You see, socialism can be beat. I know one man who did it. They do not want the world to know it is possible. I am asking for your help to assist me in digging this great American story out from beneath the bushel basket of revisionist historians. --Grizzlygroundswell 22:34, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Please do not assist in Erasing E. W. Everson from History again.
[edit]I feel that E.W.Everson meets the Criteria for Notability People.
Politicians: 5. Politicians who have held international, national or statewide/provincewide office, and members and former members of a national, state or provincial legislatures.5
E. W. Everson served three terms in the North Dakota State House of Represenatives. He later founded and was president of the Independent Voters Association.
4. Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage.4
E. W. Everson was the original insurgent that challenged the NPL on the house floor thus exposing the achilles heal of the NPL. E. W. Everson was dealt with very harshly across the press headlines all across North Dakota as A. C. Townley tried to neutralize this insurgency to his autocratic power. Many rallied behind E. W. Everson as he founded and served as president of the Independent Voters Association. E. W. Everson has since been written out of history and it continues here again today if this article is speedily deleted instead of assisted to meet criteria. --Grizzlygroundswell 22:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC) Blog with source materials about E. W. Everson as I find them
Copyvio assistance requested. I have a photo copy of a handwritten life journey by E. W. Everson How do I cite this?
[edit]Greetings,
Again, I am new so forgive my misunderstandings. I have a photo copy of a hand written account of a life journey of E. W. Everson. How do I cite this document? It is in no archive except the families that I am aware of. I have transcribed it here so E. W. Everson could tell his own life story instead of my general summary of it. I feel it helps make the historical accounts more alive then a more basic account and summary. I again ask for assistance in meeting wikipedia guidelines. Thank you. --Grizzlygroundswell 23:14, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Having done a little research, as it appears that EW Everson held a notable position, I have removed the speedy deletion notice. The previous editor that placed it was correct to do so, however, as it appeared to contain a copyright violation (whether it was or not). I have created a stub article which you can now expand. You would be best advised to summarise the biography which you mention above. You can certainly cite the account, although it is obviously difficult to ensure its verifiability. You will need however, to maintain a neutral tone to the article at all times without railing against "socialists" and "revisionists" as you did above (and in the IVA article, which I've reverted). Ironically, my political leanings are fairly socialist themselves - strange how things work out sometimes :) EliminatorJR Talk 23:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Eliminator JR you are good!
[edit]Thank you for assisting me on my quest to get E. W. Everson's story out there and in his rightful place in history. Please check back to assist in my expansion. Since you have a great start here, I think I need to learn more about wikipedia protocol. I am going to learn this system and then I will flesh this out more. Thank you again so much for your assistance! You must be a North Dakotan! Atleast you have a North Dakotan heart. --Grizzlygroundswell 23:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm from England, actually :) As I say, try to expand the article and I'll check back on it soon. By the way, if you've got bigger scans of the newspaper articles in your blog, you could link to them as sources (don't upload them into the article, though - ask me on my talk page if you're not sure how to do the links). Eliminator JR That sounds like a great plan!
[edit]I am going to take about a week or so just compiling what I have. I also have access to the .pdf files of the whole newspaper page image. Is there a way to like to those? Would I have to host them on my website in order to link to them on here? How do I add E. W. Everson's name to the Independent Voters Association post. There was also Theodore Nelson who was the secretary whom I think I am so named, Chad Theodore Everson. My Father, Ralph Theodore Everson was Edwin Everson's son and E. W. Everson, My Great Grandpa was Edwin's father and Ralph's Grandfather. Well, as you probably can tell, I need to get my notes together and I was wondering if you had an email address or something where I could send you a draft before I posted it? Otherwise, I really also need to learn my way around wikipedia, I guess I do either way. Thanks again and I added you to my blog. www.grizzlygroundswell.com E. W. Everson's nickname was "The Grizzly" and that is the inspiration behind the blog.
I find myself here in Minnesota, the real source of socialism in the midwest. It is great that you are from England. MY favorite shows are Brit com's such as Last of the Summer Wine and Keeping up appearances. Compo and Nora are about as good as you can get! Do you know if Socialism can be traced to a simular history in England as it can be in America? I am just intersted in understanding the history. It seems we fight and refight the same battles not necessarily hearing what should of been learned from the history of the argument. I guess that is the way it is. It is also very interesting how E. W. Everson has been totally shut out of North Dakota history only leaving newspaper editor's and alumni's of my alma matter to take the historical credit. It is probably our family's mistake in not compiling and entrusting the correspondence to the institutions of the state, but after befalling the terrorism that the NPL put upon my family, I now know why they distrusted the body politic.
Well, I hope I have found a new friend across the pond! Thank you so much for coming to E. W. Everson and my rescue. Take care and look for more product from me within a week or two.
