Re: Machine man?

[edit]

Hi Greswik, I did notice that ChillyMeerka had reverted their own vandalism. That's why I issued a level 1 warning rather than a level 2 warning. Would you kindly remove the vandalism warning you left on my talk page now? Thanks. Robotman1974 21:32, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Robotman1974 21:33, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I would have given a test warning for that particular instance of vandalism it would have been level 2 anyway, so I think this is more than fair. Robotman1974 07:58, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove sourced/referenced information from this article. If you do so, you may be banned from editing Wikipedia in the future.

Danish Nazism

[edit]

Nothing to stop you adding a DB tag at all. I'm dubious that its sufficiently blatent enough nonsense to be speedy material but that all depends what admins are running through CSD. If they disagree the prod still stands until someone removes it and then it can go to AFD. --Spartaz Humbug! 20:40, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, this is now at Afd after the author removed your speedy tag - oh and its miles worse now in terms of acceptability --Spartaz Humbug! 21:16, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article is at AFD now so I guess no further action is required on our parts. --Spartaz Humbug! 21:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The GDP figures that I posted (and you changed)were officially commissioned by the Monegasque Government.

EDIT: Thanks :-)

Thanks for you comment on my talk page. "Phenotype" may be "not very popular in Europe" but we are talking about an American politician. I think using "phenotype" in the article is appropriate because: (1) it is a neutral term (here anyway); (2) without its inclusion, the article had been subjected to challenges to Mr. Butterfield's status as an African-American, even with inclusion of information about the Congressional Black Caucus; and (3) perhaps most importantly, I know Mr. Butterfield and he has not expressed any objection to using the term. As for your trying to achieve a compromise between editor 143.231.249.141 and me, although I appreciate your efforts and don't doubt your sincerity, the issue was settled between the two of us. He/she was taking a rather radical position that Mr. Butterfield is not African-American because his skin is not dark enough (ironically, using his phenotype to argue that he is not African-American). My strongest objection was to denying his status as an African-American, but I also felt (and still feel) than including the word "phenotype" is both appropriate and necessary. This may be a point of disagreement with some, but I don't think the majority opinion (which includes Mr. Butterfield) is that it should be removed. Thanks. Ward3001 17:54, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's going to take me some time to get in the habit of signing. My apologies. Ok, I'm confused... It's not a warning? That's what it says here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace#Usual_warnings --Pizzachicken 20:15, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh nevermind! I misunderstood what you said. You were saying that your comment is not a warning, just a notice. I did some searching on the aforementioned page and found the "right template". subst:uw-tilde. Sorry, I'm new here. :) --Pizzachicken 20:19, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Message Left on My User Page

[edit]

I just wanted to say thanks for the kind words left today. While not exactly a newbie (I have been hanging around unregistered for a long while) I am new to what I am doing now. The templates I have been using were part of the tools I installed and I was unaware they were outdated. I have seen the templates you noted to me and have reverted to them a few times when I felt they were appropriate. I will start to use them on a more consistent basis. User:Example again

[edit]

Hello. I must admit I used your User:Example to test out how a template really would look on a users page- I don't totally trust the preview function, and also didn't feel convinced it would be absolutely right within my sandbox. (which it seemed to be, though.) But regarding this user: is it really such a bad idea to use it as a testbed for usertalk edits? I mean, why not use it as a sandbox? The reasons for not testing on a page, as the fear of having someone loading a "vandalized" page, seems to disintegrate when we are talking about a users talkpage- and a nonexistent user, that is. Greswik 16:54, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with using it as a sandbox is that, since it's used as an example for things like {{user}}, what is written there will be seen by newbies. Of course, when testing a complex esoteric template which might work differently when on a subpage or in a different namespace, you have to test somewhere like there (testing on your own user/user talk page doesn't work as well because of the automatic bolding); it would be best, however, if we had a "sandbox user" for tests like that. --cesarb 17:19, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice

I changed the entry to English. Thanks again for the advice. It was about the article Prokuplje Cata1609 20:08, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A safely valve is rather different from a pressure reducing valve. The former shuts off the supply when certain critical conditions occur such as a fire. A pressure reducing valve, reduces the pressure to a pre-determined level, but doesn't shut off the supply.

Marking edits as minor

[edit]

If you remember, you gave me a lot of good advice including a suggestion to mark edits as minor. I have not yet got round to taking all of your advice but I did start marking them as minor. As I suggested, I had not done this because I did not want to decide and/or dispute with other editors whether my edits are major or minor. Now a user has complained Even worse, you have marked the edits as minir (m). Sigh.

Could you help me respond to that user please? Lightmouse 11:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

jaring

[edit]

In psychiatry, the term is used to describe the creation of words which only have meaning to the person who uses them. It is considered normal in children, but a symptom of thought disorder indicative of a psychotic mental illness such as schizophrenia in adults.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jaring&action=history

If Dirty Sanchez is in Wikipedia, why can not a phobia be in. Do you have something against us? We are really just trying to gain awareness for our concern. As we have seen with the Gays and Blacks, as people become more aware and familiar with these conditions, they become more accepted. Believe me that i wish this was not part of who i am, but it is part of who i am.

Say, are you the same person with that small square black moustache from the second world war? Or are you "Themightyquill"? For you information (which your aussi brain seems to completelly lack of) the site IS meant for articles and not personal disputes! But ther was NO dispute until YOU started one under the nickname of "Themightyquill" deleting other people articles without any shame, remores or interest for the truth, keep putting back again your article where you ("Themightyquill") sauid that the history and movenment of the gypsy nation are for you "an enigma", therfore now knowing anything, but keep deleting articles of others wich DOES KNOW everything about..!?? YOU created and started this dispute, and now YOU complain about it? When was the last tiem yoiu consulted a doctor? If you are NOT "Themightyquill" but some asshole from "down-under" which also think about himself as an "all-mighty" being, you will get the same ase you partner inm crimes! So do NOt complain to me about it, when YOU on your own, came into the shit that your friend created and kept going on a site where is NO PLACE for disputs but foor INFO adn DATA, which you assholes do your best to STOP it from reaching Wikipedia like wikipedia would be your private playground!?? SHITHEAD! I tel you what I allready told the other Hitler: DO NOT PUSH IT! Deleting important articles wich tells the truth! If you still never heard of "DO not do onto others waht you don't like to be donne onti you", consider this message the FINAL warning! NORE YOU, nore any other self appointed piece of shit 2-bit rasist dictator will EVER be able to stop the truth (from this site/page of wikipedia or any other page of the billion pages...)EVER, so if you have at least one neuron in that paleozoic skull opf yours, listen to yhis advice: DO not start a war you can never win! Do whatever you think is best regarding the article. Might be best to prod it, but that's my opinion. I really feel it should be deleted as it is not an authorized album. Also there is information about the bootleg here http://evanescencereference.info/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page and it would be better just to create a link on the discography article itself rather than create an article which says exactly what evanescencereference.info says.

Edit summary note

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this edit summary: please be careful using comments like "boring nom" in your edit summaries, as they may be construed as uncivil. If there are problems with the nomination, by all means leave a note on my talk page. But edit summaries which take a judgmental tone are not conducive to a civil atmosphere. Regards. --Muchness 20:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am of course with you on not been uncivil in the edits summary. Several people had just written delete per nom, and I was about to write the same thing- very little creative of me. Hence, I was afraid of people rolling thru the edits found it boring. Do you have the impression I write ugly edit summaries as a rule? I must admit, it didn't even cross my mind you could think I thought your nomination was "boring". (Except for the part of being of a sad reason: no verification for almost a year. I don't really know how to put this, if you don't see what I mean.) Greswik 21:17, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, that was a bad mistake on my part and thank you for clarifying. Looking through the rest of your contribs I can see that you're an excellent and thoughtful editor, I don't see any problems with your edit summaries at all. Again, my apologies. --Muchness 21:44, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

[edit]

Why is is vandalism to add references to recent events that anyone can find after a moment's googling? You some PR guy for the college or what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nautilogos (talkcontribs) 16:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm no "pr-guy for the college". But it is not the style for an encyclopedia to add disparaging links of this type. You find more about external links at the WP:EL. Greswik 16:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you think it's approriate for an encyclopedia article to come across as if written by a PR department? The article has no content in the slightest bit critical or even informative. The article is a transcription of some administration office's blather and anything possibly interpretable as negative is spun positively. You're a PR schmuck and that's it if you disallow discordant points of view. Removing my link to the riots and animal cruelty at the school simply make the article incomplete in the same way the catalog is. The links are not in the slightest bit disparaging either. They link to verifiable sources that are neutral (news organizations). Maybe in Norway, the truth is disparaging if it's embarrassing (to you). What a moron. --Nautilogos —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nautilogos (talkcontribs) 03:12, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this guy is some sort of Palestinian agent provocateur who's going to keep effing with the Munich Massacre article. I don't know how to report someone for vandalism - can you keep an eye on this putz?

im sorry to have been mistaken but whoever wrote that article made a miscalculation when determining the speed from knots to kph, 1 knot is 1.85 of a mile. therefore 10 knots is 18.5 miles per hour. am i not correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Can.u.spel (talkcontribs) 12:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to know the difference between mph and kph. 25 knots is 46 km/h, as the article read allready. Greswik 13:56, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why the fuck did you delete my article on Dias Juturna? I wasn't even finished with it.

I'm going to re-create it. Don't fucking touch it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DiasJuturna (talkcontribs) 17:51, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As the notice said: it was a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. This means it was impossible to figure out what the article was all about (someone fictious? Or real? ) Actually, the admin seemed to delete it as about someone not important enough for an entry. Anyhow, if you want to work on articles before you put them up, it is possible to do so in your own userspace. Like, User:DiasJuturna/Dias Juturna (just click on it and save.). BTW, if you use this kind of foul language you might give the wrong impression of being a problem, instead of a good contributor. Greswik 18:27, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spinodal decomposition

[edit]

Hi,

Well I agree it is probably real, and the article almost entirely obscure to a non-mathematician. But there are no sources, so it looks like original research. NOR says that "The only way to show that your work is not original research is to produce a reliable published source that advances the same claims or makes the same argument as you." - and NOR says it should not be there if it is OR. I will tag it {{unreferenced}}, and wait to see what turns up - see WP:V. Regards, Springnuts 20:11, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip on "tl|". I am still wary of the article - it is the editor's first edit of any kind. Regards, Springnuts 20:28, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Account creation date.

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for asking. I had edited anonymously, but eventually got tired of having to deal with the blocks. The account was created just in case I ever needed it. It seemed the blocks were becoming more frequent, and made it worthwhile to always sign in. Hope this Helps. Cheers, --Aarktica 23:36, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • By the way, I was recently informed of a way that I can be reached via email through Wikipedia. If you prefer, you can send me a note by clicking on special:emailuser/aarktica. --Aarktica 05:39, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hello again. Thanks to your support, I finally obtained administrative access. I sincerely appreciate the positive feedback you provided in favor of my nomination, and would like to reassure you that your participation was indeed worthwhile. Please feel free to contact me if you need help with activities requiring administrative access; I would do my best to be of assistance to you. Cheers, --Aarktica 01:00, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Innocent

[edit]

Just like to tell that I have done nothing of the such and that someone is saying that is me. Just to let you know. --58.165.191.66 03:08, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

17. april? Thats a half year ago! IPs change ownership - people would hardly think that was you. Still, my suggestion is you sign up for an account, so you are sure no-one thinks youre the old vandal ;-) . But basically, well, youre claim of innocence seems better founded than most claims of innocense probably is. Greswik 14:22, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria Silvstedt

[edit]

Hi! Can I ask before your edit on the Victoria Silvstedt did you read the Talk page discussion about the SkyNews issue? Accusing me of slander seems to defy wiki principles, and particularly WP:AGF. I have reinserted the text, but have found and used an alternate reference to the original one which has a less NPOV stance. Rgds, - Trident13 23:22, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In your edit [6] you used a link named named "confirmed-victoria-silvstedt-is-a-prostituting-whore". I am surprised you think that thats is a link we want in our encyclopedia. You have used the edit summary "reinsert slander text" when you put that in, so I seriously think you should relax your insulted tone a bit (or, really, totally.) You have now found another link, this one is better, but it has many disgusting pop-up ads instead- thats bad too.Greswik 18:28, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
