To make your day with a smile

--Teddey 04:33, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Messsage from Roger Squires

Thank you for your message re "Roger Squires" article, which I was egotistically pleased to see, put together by unknown hands! You also requested a photograph. I regret my computer literacy is somewhat limited although I happily use it every day for compiling crosswords. My daughter paid a quick visit on Friday 6th and helped to send two photographs, one turned out rather small and one too huge. You left a message suggesting I give it a licence or it would be deleted. As daughter is back to her job of being a doctor in Liverpool I am on my own again and tried to give it the licence starting GU..etc and uploading. It doesn't seem to have worked. I think I can only manage it with instructions of one syllable and without initialisation. Could you help further, please? Apologies from Roger Squires (75 yrs old, pensioner, grandad with blank space where computer technology should be).Roger Squires 11:16, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Cryptic Crossowrd

Thank you Grafen for clearing it up. I wasn't fully aware, just trying to give users a better understanding of the cryptic however I will try to improve the content in the future. Thanks once again and keep up the great work! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashesnz (talkcontribs) 19:54, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

In appreciation for translating Stefano Cusumano, an article I stumbled on that desperately needed your services. I'd heard this was an interesting and noteworthy subject, and now I understand why. Best, Risker (talk) 23:43, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Portici

Portici is fine now..the only thing i have to say is that with regards to dates, ie [|[ September 13 | 13 September ]|] is the correct way =] and also because i cant stand the redirects that [|[ 13 September ]|] causes!! haha also i saw the complete revert of Capodimonte (which disappointed me greatly); we should work to together with that article methinks..i feel it should have a slightly bigger history then one paragraph due to it being a very famous, important and beautiful museum =]

Lucius Valerius Flaccus (praetor 63 BC)

There is a rather good article underway on this fellow on the user page User:Appietas/Lucius Valerius Flaccus (praetor 63 BC). It hasn't been edited since June, however, and when I attempted to contact Appietas, I got no response. Since an article on this guy was on my to-do list, I wonder at what point I should consider Appietas' article abandoned. I'm asking your opinion because you seemed to have noticed this figure; but maybe you don't have a particular interest in Lucius, so apologies if I've bugged you needlessly. Cynwolfe (talk) 18:40, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I agree completely with what you said about the article, which as it stands is a combination of draft and notes. I've encountered (but not engaged) Appietas on talk pages. He expresses his views forcefully, and sometimes with more ad hominem venom than is necessary; he has a longstanding feud with Roman Historian. Appietas seems well informed, and I think his opinions come out in a manner that suggests OR (but it's been my experience that whenever I flatter myself that I have an "original" idea regarding antiquity, somebody's been there first — it's just a matter of finding it in the secondary material). It's his irascibility that makes me hesitant about commandeering a draft article from his user page, but I need to link to this LVF regularly. I think I'll pose the question of etiquette at the Help Desk or somewhere, and will let you know what they say. Cynwolfe (talk) 14:56, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
One other thing: could you hold off changing those redlinks to direct the Lucius Valerius Flaccus page? I don't want to have to go back and change them all again. I have probably a dozen articles linking to LVF (pr63), because it had been my intention to supply the article soon, when I learned there was one in the works. tks man we appreciate all the work!!

Nereid Monument

Nice work on the Nereid Monument! I'd like to nominate it for DYK? OK? Its not "essential" but it will be easier if you could add a cite to ever para (there are people who check this even though it isn't a written rule). Thanks Victuallers (talk) 09:29, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: joining WMUK online

From [1]:

You may like to know that the online application link is not working. I do have a paper application form somewhere, but I am more likely to join if I can do it online. Grafen 08:26, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for letting us know about this problem - it was caused by a recent server move. The form should now be working again. We look forward to having you as a member. :-) Mike Peel (talk) 13:17, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed your refs on Nereid Monument‎ and thought you may want to check my essay User:Fæ/BM refs. This points to the related BM online help with formatting references. Cheers (talk) 09:20, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

CSHM TY

TY for correcting the name. I tried and was not successful. What is the secret? ;-) DocOfSoc (talk) 23:26, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Grafen. You have new messages at DocOfSoc's talk page.

Would you tell me why you have removed my message ? I am under continuos threat and vandalism in my wikipage by a user Weatherextreme, who has vandalized my page previously and he is threating and insulting me to impose a change . If this is not the right place for this dispute, kindly tell me what i have to do to report this continuos attacks. This have been going on for long time and this kind of threats are unacceptable.

Protected your userpage

I have semiprotected your userpage, since it has recently been receiving some unwanted attention from anonymous users. If you would like me to remove the semiprotection, let me know, or ask at WP:RFPP. --Jayron32 05:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

My warning

hi, i removed a big chunk of information from those pages because it duplicates exactly the information found on the band's main discography article, Atomic Kitten discography. it was not vandalism. it is completely pointless having a separate discography article and then having the exact same information on each members own page. 89.243.54.90 (talk) 17:39, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. The information that you removed from the Jenny Frost page did contain some information that was also on the band's main discography article, and that perhaps could have been summarised more briefly. But you also removed information about her solo and Precious recordings, which does not appear on the AK discography page. Simply removing the entire section seemed to me like vandalism.
If you want to remove a lot of content again, I would encourage you to include an edit summary or a note on the talk page explaining your logic. Then there would be a better chance that someone would re-instate anything that was useful, rather than reverting and warning. Grafen (talk) 18:03, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
the precious information is located on the main precious page so it is also duplicate information. and i did leave an edit summary explaining what i did. so could you remove the duplicate info then? 89.243.54.90 (talk) 20:33, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

The Five Doctors

I made an edit to The Five Doctors page, which is a continuity error referred to in several publications and on the DVD commentary by the programme's writer. MarnetteD, who apparently is the self-appointed guardian of all things Doctor Who related on wiki has deleted all my edits and dismissed them as "Fancruft", whatever that means. However, this is clearly a case of picking on one editor who has disobeyed this guardian, as I added it to an entire section that is NOTHING but fancruft by their definition. So it is not OK to point out continuity errors, but it is OK to say "There is no explanation for the absence of Kamelion from this story" and it is OK to say a pattern on the floor is similar to a patten on the floor in an earlier adventure? The hypocracy is astonishing. Now you are threatening me too. I started discussions on these matters which I understood was the right way to go. Until ALL the fancruft is removed, I see no reason why my edits should be singled out. Why is MarnetteD not being threatened? It takes two to make a "war". 71.146.16.112 (talk) 19:05, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
