- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Encyclop[a]edia spelling
[edit]Hi there and sorry to bother you. I noticed that at Persian language in the Indian subcontinent you'd omitted the second C in "Encyclopaedia Iranica" a couple of times. I normally wouldn't bother you with this over one instance but, seeing the second one, I did wonder if you were maybe using a template or cutting and pasting from somewhere else that contained the same error ... and if so, if you might want to correct it! Obviously very minor, no harm done etc etc – I just hoped that this might be helpful to you. Cheers DBaK (talk) 15:32, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing it! It was a mistake in typing, I somehow managed to miss the same letter multiple times. Gowhk8 (talk) 15:47, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- We've ALL been there! Glad to have helped. Cheers DBaK (talk) 21:45, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Sharqi dynasty
[edit]Hi there. Just writing to let you know I've undone your edit at Sharqi dynasty, which blanked the page and removed the redirect. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it doesn't seem like the correct way to to. Thanks.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 03:37, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, I was thinking that the Sharqi dynasty should be a separate page and I wanted to insert a red link for it, but I couldn't since it already was a redirect. Blanking it was the only thing I could come up with, but I understand it's not the recommended thing to do. Gowhk8 (talk) 03:57, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the reply. If you're interested in starting a separate page, I'd recommend starting it atUser:Gowhk8/Sharqi dynasty. That way you can work on the article, and it can be moved to the correct title when it is ready to be published.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 04:22, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Gowhk8! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Greetings WatanWatan2020 (talk) 14:45, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi WatanWatan2020. I doubt I could contribute to the discussion since I'm not very acquainted with the article's content; my contributions were related to the formatting and style of the article. Thanks for the invitation though :) Gowhk8 (talk) 02:58, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Proposal to add a section dedicated to: The Quran inscribed on the Qutub Minar
[edit]I believe the section on the Quran inscribed on the Qutub Minar is a stub. Here is what the text currently says, "The inscriptions are as follows: Quran, sura II, verses 255-60; Quran, sura LIX, verses 22-23, and attributes of God...". I strongly recommend there is more clarity, detail and comprehensiveness on these verses. Possibly using quran.com/2/255-260 as a reference. I believe both the Arabic text and English translation of The Clear Quran by Mustafa Khattab should be added to the section. Reaching out to you since you have strong South Asian Wikipedia expertise. Are you available to help with this? spartymantz (talk) 12:37, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Madrasa Ghaziuddin Khan
[edit]On 18 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Madrasa Ghaziuddin Khan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Madrasa Ghaziuddin Khan is one of the few surviving madrasas dating from the Mughal Empire, and the oldest continuing school in Delhi, India? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Madrasa Ghaziuddin Khan. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Madrasa Ghaziuddin Khan), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
