Speedy deletion nomination of File:Federated co-ops logo.PNG

Hi Gobonobo,

something what looks like a problem with your 2007 article on Cindy Duehring appeared on the German Wikipedia, where the question how to translate the mentioned "Resourceful Woman Leadership Award" arose. The sign of the possible problem is rather simple: There seem to be no Google hits on this award other than pages about Cindy Duehring. Can you shed some light into the issue, e.g. by possibly correcting the name of the award, removing the information in case you do not have any evidence for this strange award ever being given, or mentioning what kind of award that is and who awards it? I've added a source for the award from the Right Livelihood Award website. I'm unaware of the origin of the award, but consider the Right Livelihood website to be a credible primary source, even if no other information about the award can be found online. Thank you for the quick and polite response. It fully answers my primary question (in that it is not a mis-spelling of some award that one could easily find resources on). My personal impression is that it is a bit strange to list awards in a person's biography that you cannot find information on who awards it to whom and for what; mentioning such an award does not exactly add much information to the article in this case. However, I am not familiar with the customs on the English WP (and in fact not accustomed to biography articles at all), so while I would tend to just remove this 1994 award I will leave the decision about that to you. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. It looks as if that commons image was falsely listed as being in the public domain. While the photo was taken in 1940, there's no evidence that the photographer died over 70 years ago. Gobonobo T C 22:46, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Not sure I understand what you're looking for here, Eeekster. If it's just the publishing house, that would be Greenwillow Books. I am not in the habit of listing a website for fair-use covers of books, but I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for either. I usually assume that the cover image is copyrighted and, as is indicated by the licensing, owned by either the cover artist or the publisher, which I often list if I know them. I use Template:Non-free use rationale book cover for fair-use book covers, and the website field in the template is marked as optional. If you look at most uploads of book covers, you'll find that very few have that sort of sourcing, which is above and beyond what is required. I suppose the most useful website to link to would be the publishing house's or the author's, if the goal is to check the copyright status. I'm not sure that Template:Bsr is appropriate for book covers lacking source info, since the source is self-evident. Gobonobo T C 02:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Again, the source is the publisher or the cover artist. The source is not the same as a url. I'm not aware of a policy or guideline that requires the inclusion of a url, but I'd love to see one if it exists. Hi GreatOrangePumpkin. I provided a link to the webpage the photo came from instead of linking to the image. I tried to look for the photographer and date of the photo, but came up with nothing. It should still meet the requirements set out in WP:NFC#10 though. It probably shouldn't be used in conjunction with the Rolling Stone obit photo, per NFC#3a. However, File:RSObit.jpg appears to be originally from Getty's Michael Ochs Archives, so it may not be usable. Gobonobo T C 23:22, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
