[edit] Hello, I'm FlightTime. Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Rooster (song) even if you provide a/some source(s), you'll still need to start a discussion on the article talk page to allow editors who regular watch that page a chance to discuss the reliability of the source(s) you provided. One reason is, genre sources can easily be considered an opinion and not fact. Genre's are a touchy subject here on Wikipedia and without discussion/consensus, regardless of your source(s), your addition or removal will most likely be reverted. Your edit has been reverted and archived in the page history for now.
Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:05, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, as you did at Supercharged (The Offspring album), you may be blocked from editing. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:05, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:06, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at Freedom (Alice Cooper song). - FlightTime (open channel) 23:38, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Genre's
[edit]Hey, don't just show up and start changing shit to your preferred version with genre's, you're just going to be blocked from editing, then we have to behind you and clean it all up. Oh, you're the one editwarring. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:11, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- What's with the attitude? If you couldn't tell, I'm still a little new around here, so I'm not 100% up to par on all the lingo used here, but that's not a reason to treat me like some subhuman. I'm not sure how adding sourced genres from official publications is "my preferred version" but I'll be more careful in the future. Sorry if calling you "a genre warrior" upset you, but in the case of "Rooster", alternative metal and alternative rock had been on the article with sources for a while. I just changed them back after they were unexplainably removed. As for my other genre changes, they're all sourced. I'm not here to war over genres, but also don't appreciate you babying me and reverting every singular one of my edits. Treat me the way you'd want to be treated. Happy editing! - The problem is, if you want to change genre's of any page you need to discuss it on the article talk page first, regardless of your sources. Genre's are just opinions not fact, hence the need to discuss first, just like the first message I left explains in detail, you did do so I left more stronger warnings. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:51, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @FlightTime I get what you're saying, but at the same time is that concrete rule or just a piece of general advice to follow? I've read up on WP:GWAR and it only says discussion is needed in the case of dispute, and I feel all my sources are explicit and reliable. To be fair, there is this line "If a disagreement arises over how a source categorizes an artist, album or song, do not edit war over it. Instead, take the issue to the talk page, and start an RfC, if needed." I don't think my edits met this criteria, but maybe I'm not seeing the big picture.
- Talk pages, from the looks of it, can take days, weeks even months to get a discussion going, and I'd prefer not to spend that amount of time on a single edit. Again, if you see any fault in my logic, do let me know, but unless there is valid opposition to a sourced genre, it doesn't seem a discussion is needed. - No, it's not concrete it's just just good manners, and if an editor reverts an edit, that equals disputed. And I'm not going to get into a long discussion about this, either play the Wikipedia game or you'll end up getting blocked, your choice (and no I do not have the ability to block anyone). - FlightTime (open channel) 22:10, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @FlightTime hmm, okay, thanks, I'll rets my case on most articles I made genre changes to, but what exactly is it that you had a problem with on my Freedom (Alice Cooper song) and Flush the Fashion edits? As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any genre warring on these articles in the past and my edits were both sourced and explicit, why the dispute on your end? I just want to know so we can reach a conclusion. Again, happy editing and this should be the last of my concerns. GlamteraFan81 (talk) 22:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

- Again and last. My objection to all your genre changes is you did not discuss your changes first. Now I'm thinking your trolling and most likely block evasion and LTA. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:48, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @FlightTime I was just confused because the WP:GWAR page said you only need to discuss genre changes in the case of a dispute. I didn't think you had to discuss genre changes if there wasn't any dispute beforehand. It's only a dispute after an edit war takes place, correct? Either way, thanks for the help and I'll be more cautious in the future. GlamteraFan81 (talk) 23:00, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
