Hello and welcome
[edit]I'm not sure if you're new to editing Wikipedia. If you are, welcome (if you're not, forgive my presumption). I spend a fair bit of time editing pages to do with Welsh politics, so we'll probably end up collaborating on certain topics.
For you to be aware, there are separate pages for the Welsh Labour Party and the Welsh Conservative Party, which I have created over the past year or so . The Conservatives' page in particularly needs a good deal more work, which I intend to do when I get to it. It might be worth using these links in your AM pages.
All the best. Normalmouth 13:01, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Tks for your reply. Meant also to say well done on the new pages - long overdue.
- "There's only one Normal Mouth" as I wish they would sing at Ninian Park one day (they never will - a chronic lack of talent cruelly robbed me of my childhood dream). I'll add your blog to my blogroll.
- Regards. Normalmouth 12:24, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Welsh Assembly article
[edit]Thanks for fixing my accidental deletion in the presiding officer bit! I see you've really expanded the article on the Senedd as well, great work. I'm really trying to expand the Welsh assembly article at the moment, to something more like the Scottish Parliament one, which is really in-depth. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks Mathsguy 14:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, nice work on Welsh National War Memorial. Sadly, the image that you uploaded is not free- the website retains copyright to the images, but is offering to sell the right to use them to companies. Obviously, this makes using photos from this site completely inappropriate for Wikipedia, which wants to have content as free as possible, and, as such, the image will be deleted in a couple of days. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. J Milburn 10:23, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Commercial use of Image:Welsh National War Memorial-panoramic2007.jpg
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Welsh National War Memorial-panoramic2007.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Welsh National War Memorial-panoramic2007.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Welsh Peers
[edit]I wished to thank you for contributing to the Welsh Peers artical. However, someone has put it up for deletion. I was hoping you could place your opinion here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Welsh_Peers#.5B.5BWelsh_Peers.5D.5D
and possibly on Welsh Nobility Family Seats here
Thanks! And lets keep up the good work! Drachenfyre 06:55, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Lord Heseltine ect
[edit]On the Welsh peers page, should we really add Lord Heseltine? His territorial qualification is outside of Wales, which is one of the primary reasons for the page.
Another thing I thought of is we should now have to go back and link all these peers and lige peers to this page! lol. What a chore!Drachenfyre 14:19, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response so quickly. I am hesitant about adding to the list any titles that do not have a Welsh place-name origion or current territorial qualificiation within Wales itself. These two qualificiations were the thrust for not deleting them in the first place, as with one commentator who question having the Earl Cawdor of Pembroke in the list in the first place. Hummm. Can we consider a bit longer? Maybe another list mentioning Welshmen who received a life peerage outside of Wales?Drachenfyre 12:54, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Capitalisation of headings
[edit]Glamorgan, thanks for all of the hard work that you have been doing on Welsh politicians. I would like to point out to you, though, that Wikipedia style is to use sentence format for headings, not title format, i.e., "Offices held" and "External links" is the correct style in Wikipedia for a heading, not "Offices Held" and "External Links". See WP:MSH for more information on headings style. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 14:49, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
a couple of guidelines
[edit]Hi, I can tell you're enthusiastic and you're doing mostly good work...just a few things I'd like to point out:
- When adding categories to an article, avoid including supercategoies. For example, Category:Welsh politicians is already a subcategory of Category:Welsh people, so you don't need to add the latter (unless you can find some Welsh politicians who aren't people).
- When considering linking to a blog, note that Wikipedia's notability guidelines are quite stringent for blogs and other self-published works.
Thanks, and good job so far. --Stlemur 21:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Cathays Park
[edit]Apologies for the brusque change to the Cathays Park article. A lot more informative things could be said about the gardens - just needs time. Keep up the good work. Sloman 20:34, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Peter Beck
[edit]A tag has been placed on Peter Beck requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Antoinette Sandbach
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Antoinette Sandbach, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit]The article you created: Simon Hoare may be deleted from Wikipedia.
There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:
The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.
Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:
- Find sources for Simon Hoare: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.
Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

- 2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)
- 3. You can request a mentor to help you: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
- 4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. These acronyms don't need to intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: Deletion debate acronyms, which will help you argue that the article should be kept.
If your page is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! Ikip (talk) 17:43, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Copyright problems with Suzy Davies
[edit]Hello. Concerning your contribution, Suzy Davies, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.suzydavies.co.uk/about-suzy. As a copyright violation, Suzy Davies appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Suzy Davies has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Suzy Davies and send an email with the message to permissions-enwikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:Suzy Davies with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Suzy Davies.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Paste Let’s have a chat. 11:56, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Copyright is a serious issue for Wikipedia: the article was an almost exact copy of http://www.suzydavies.co.uk/about-suzy. Minor rewording like changing "Suzy" to "Davies" is not enough to avoid a breach of copyright - see Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- In any case, as Wikipedia is not for promotion of any kind, and to prevent it being used as an election noticeboard, the notability policy WP:POLITICIAN provides that being an unelected candidate for political office is not enough for notability, but that an option for articles about candidates, rather than deletion, is to redirect them to the article about the election. The references in your article were all to do with Ms Davies' candidature and the election, and did not show the independent notability necessary for a stand-alone article. I have therefore redirected the article to the relevant section of National Assembly for Wales election, 2011. If Ms Davies is elected, she can of course have an article. Conflict of interest guideline
[edit]You appear to be creating a string of articles about Conservative candidates for the Welsh Assembly election. Wikipedia is not for promotion of any kind, political or other; if you are connected with the Conservative party organization, you may have a conflict of interest.
In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Speedy deletion nomination of Suzy Davies (Welsh politician)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mccapra (talk) 09:52, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
