Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Okinawa soba, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

In future, please try and ensure that the articles are more developed, so that suggestions from them can surely make to DYK. --Gurubrahma 12:08, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Using images from Japanese-language wikis

[edit]

I have been adding/editing Japan-related pages. I see a lot of images on the Japanese-language wiki pages that could be useful. But I cannot seem to find out the proper way to reference them, or if we need to upload them to the English site, how to attribute the copyright. For the most part, it seems that no copyright is given on the Japanese-langauge image pages.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Help

How can I help you? ComputerJoe 17:36, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you cannot reference images on the Japanese-language wiki directly, instead the either need to be "commons" images, or uploaded onto the English wiki. As you note copyright is important and they should be tagged on the Japanese-language wiki, if not then the only way is to try and find the copyright status some other way (you'd be better asking about the statuses on that wiki). If in doubt, it is generally best to assume that you can't use an image. --pgk(talk) 17:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:300px-Mt.Omoto.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:11, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
