Before your students create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not. Unencyclopedic articles are subject to deletion.
We highly recommend that you place {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay after your assignment is finished! 220 of Borg 16:54, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Articles in user space
[edit]I notice that a number of your students are using their user pages as places to develop their draft articles. That isn't really what user pages themselves are intended for, and instead if they want to develop articles in their user space they ought to use subpages. For example on User talk:Ashley3840J it was pointed out that an appropriate page in user space for that user's draft article would be User:Ashley3840J/Solon Police Department, but instead the user has put the content into User:Ashley3840J. Good luck with your project. - David Biddulph (talk) 17:12, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the guidance! I've had them all move their articles to the appropriate subpages. The next time I do this assignment I'll know right where to start! Ggondek (talk) 16:17, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- Glad to see that. I have moved User:CBoring38840J/subpage to User:CBoring3840J/subpage, as I assume that the former (with two 8s) was a typo. - David Biddulph (talk) 16:20, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
