New Gurgaon

I am not a vandalist, I only meant to add the country and some clarity to the article. Help me contribute, I am an educated biochemist with excellent Engilsh writing skills. I have wanted to contribute since I saw incorrect information about molecular biology. • New Gurgaon is in India, so adding "England" to the article did not add clarity, but misinformation. Considering the article is in the category "Villages in India" and both of the towns named in the opening sentence are in India (as indicated in their linked articles here on Wikipedia), I have a little trouble giving you the benefit of the doubt on this. User talk pages

These don't get deleted when a blocked user blanks their page. Depending on the admin that finds it, the page may be left blanked or might be reverted to the blocking warning. A talk page that consists of advertising or copyvio can be deleted, but then is recreated to show a warning about whatever it was they did there. Other user pages can be deleted by user request or following blanking. In this case, I've left the page blanked as they've obviously seen the warning and don't look set to continue advertising. (In cases where they persist in advertising on the talk page - the only thing they can edit - I delete, place a new warning and revoke talk page access. In the rare case where they come back as an IP, the page can be protected - I think I've only seen one case where this has been necessary.) A user talk page created by a different user and only edited by them can be deleted - this occurs when the page is created by mistake. Not common, but does happen if the wrong person has been warned for something they hadn't done. Peridon (talk) 13:15, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Can you offer any citation to a reliable source -- usually a published article not connected with the subject, but in this case a document or Web page published by the church may do -- that supports your contention? I couldn't find any, and noted that the original information had gone unchallenged for more than 3 years. Edit War

Dwpaul- Am I now blocked from editing anything on Wikipedia or just this article. It is the first thing I ever added an edit to. It's kinda funny how they label something and that is "neutral". I can see how wikipedia can spin out of control, but it's kinda of slopping "party line" already. You are not blocked from anything -- yet. The "guys at GeoEngineeringWatch" are not the ones who have been warned about editing in violation of Wikipedia's policies. As a new editor, you might want to take a few minutes to learn about them, instead of persistently repeating the same edits and ignoring warnings. To better answer your question, if you are blocked you will generally be blocked from editing anywhere in Wikipedia (though topic bans are an option, they are generally reserved for editors who have shown a history of valuable edits generally, but an obsession with a particular topic where their edits and/or interactions with other editors have been less than constructive). FYI, it is also possible to disable the automatic edit-summary of rollback by adding a custom edit-summary java script to your vector.js like I did here. You will then get an additional field on rollback called [sum] for edit-summary, so that you can add your own before reverting using rollback as I did here. Kitty Genovese

I believe the article mis-quotes the title of the originial NY Times article. The title was "37 Who Saw Murder Didn't Call the Police" NOT "Thirty-Eight who Saw Murder Didn't Call the Police". The article cites a page that re-prints the original paper, rather than the original paper itself. Bot usernames

I couldn't find the diff, but to respond to your comment now that I've moved the report to the holding pen, anyone familiar with our bot-naming knows that we have very few with numeric suffixes, and that's usually just 2 (I did, in fact, once block someone for using "-bot2" not only because of that but because there was an existing bot with that name. On uncontroversial material, the appropriate action is to add a template rather than remove the information. If we removed all the uncited non-controversial information in WIkipedia without notice, it would suddenly be half its current size. Responsible editors should be given the opportunity to improve their articles. That's what does. Also, assume good faith. You do not have any grounds to threaten me with a block at this point. @Yaldoo: I find it curious that you don't seem to know how to spell Jana Kramer's name (spelling her first name both "Janna" and "Jenna" and her last name "Krammer") above), yet we should be willing to take your word for facts about her in an encyclopedia. Regardless, that is not how Wikipedia works. Information here, especially information of a personal nature such as the names of relatives and their employment, requires citation of a verifiable reliable source, not the word of someone who claims to be a coworker of a family member. See Wikipedia's policies explaining how we must have reliable, published sources to verify such information about living persons, and that without them the information must be immediately removed. If I do not, another editor will. If you persist in adding unsourced information to this or any article, you run the risk of being blocked from editing Wikipedia articles. The characters names in "About a Boy" (US)

The IMDB page for "About a Boy (2014)" does not specify a last name for Marcus or Fiona. The British version uses Brewer as their last name. I believe that on the TV show (NBC Tuesday nights) they have also used "Brewer". The Wikipedia.org page for Minnie Driver cites her character's last name as Brewer. This ought to be evidence enough to use the last name "Brewer" when referring to those that sang the song "What Makes You Beautiful". Either that or remove Brewer from Minnie Driver's page as well.

The Wikipedia page for the NBC series About a Boy describes the characters' last names as Bowa. In the novel by by the same name by Nick Holmby, the characters' last name was Brewster. However, the reference you edited pertains to the TV series, not the novel. See also [1], [2], [3] and others which state the TV series' characters' last name is Bowa not Brewster. Roy Henry (Alexander) Gover 1927 - 2003

I have been researching my family history and this has brought me to Roy Henry Gover who is my 5th Cousin 2x removed. My research shows that Roy was the youngest of 5 children born Roy Henry Gover to John Alexander Gover & Norah Emily Gover (nee Simmonds). He was born in Edmonton London England on 29th August 1927 not 1929 as is recorded on most of the internet articles. He was also married twice - once in 1955 to Jean A M Guiver in Brentwood Essex England and again in 1966 to Pamela Anne Nowak in Marin California USA. I thought the best place to start getting the error on his year of birth changed would be Wikipedia. I have obtained his date of birth from records held on Ancestry.co.uk where I research my family and on a biopic film - - After 17:00 minutes one of Roy's earliest paintings is shown - painted in 1938 when he was aged 11 this confirms his correct year of birth and is signed by Roy himself. Perhaps this film could be used for citation purposes? @SNOGNUT: Please see WP:BLP, WP:CITE and WP:Reliable sources. Unfortunately, a video posted on vimeo.com is not a reliable source, since anyone can produce and post a video stating anything they like. As for "as is recorded on most of the internet articles", a) actually the opposite is true (more hits via Google list him as having been born in 1929), b) this is not a valid way of establishing birth dates for Wikipedia articles, and c) it is an extremely faulty way of doing so as there are many sites which mirror Wikipedia's content, giving false weight to what is already here. Dwpaul - I am not familiar with the complexities of Wikipedia's system. I merely wished to point out an inaccuracy. The Ancestry.com information is copyright therefore can not be used as citation. If you search for birth records on FreeBMD.Org for Roy H Gover you will find his birth recorded in 1927. Also his USA Social Security death record show his birth as 1927 not 1929 - freely available on Familysearch.Org. There are unquestionably many inaccuracies in Wikipedia. Unfortunately, simply knowing of an inaccuracy does not allow us to substitute alternate information in its place. We have policies here concerning how such information is selected and presented, especially in articles that pertain to people and biography. Considering that I am Jewish, it is not an anti-semetic remark. However, I do draw private conclusions as to why he refuses to acknowledge their marriage. I did site my source, in stating that she authored the book I gathered my facts from, which emphasized her experience as a Holocaust survivor.

There was no citation in the information (one sentence) I reverted[4]. I don't mean that you need to be prepared to state your source when someone questions you about your edit; I mean that your edit must include a citation. Once again, please see WP:Biography of living persons. If you need guidance as to how to include citations with your edits, please see WP:CITE as I suggested above. I don't have a dog in that hunt at all. So far, the only discussions at WP:RS/N about Erowid and its reliability [5][6][7] are lukewarm at best, and the consensus of the first is pretty clear that it is not reliable. Perhaps you're saying that it is reliable enough for you, but you cannot make that statement ("is considered a reliable source") on behalf of Wikipedia without evidence of consensus on that question. I have no problem with the inclusion of a second, more mainstream source to back up what Erowid has said, and neither should you, unless you have a personal interest in promoting Erowid. The twist is everything that comes after. @Wwwjimbo: The other external sites listed in that article clearly had national and international scope. My sense from looking at the site you linked to was that it was primarily of local (Minnesota) interest. If you think your club is somehow notable, consider writing an article about it.
