Re: Talk Page

[edit]

Hi,

Hope all's well. I understand how frustrating it must be to get a draft declined after you've put hard work into it, and also how confusing the software must be. If it helps, I'm not a software person, either

Anyways, we require inline citations for our articles on living persons, and the best page to help you with references is here.

Here are two simple ways to cite:

  • 1) When you are editing, click the "cite" button immediately above the editing space. Then, click "template," and then select the format of your source (website, news, book, journal). All you have to do after is insert the information, then hit "insert." That's all there is to it!
  • 2) An easy, quick way to cite is to place your sources in this format: <ref>ADD SOURCE HERE</ref>. An example of this is: <ref>http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Isro-scientist-tours-the-edge-of-space/articleshow/42414821.cms</ref>. However, method 1 is preferred, because it allows more information to be included, such as the author, date, publisher, etc.

Also, please remember to use reliable sources: Blogs and social media are not generally considered appropriate.

Once you've worked on the article some more and feel confident about it, you can always resubmit it for a colleague to review. I wish you the best of luck on our site. If you need help at any point, you may ask me, or you could place this on your talk page: {{helpme}}

Regards,

GABgab 13:26, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

hello friend great!!!!! thanks for the simple /easy suggestion.i am able to insert all the reference. kindly message me how to include/ insert video links.there are excellent edge of space travel and zero gravity flights videos performed by Mr.T N suresh kumar i wish to add the links. kind regards Geetha thanks a lot

I've looked at the draft once more - the idea of footnotes is that each statement in the article can be easily traced to the footnote right next to it. Unfortunately, the footnotes seem to be clustered near the top, which sort of defeats the purpose. Here is an example of how we like footnotes to look:
The Earth is the third planet from the sun[1]

References

[edit]
  1. ^ Source
So I would appreciate if you could move the footnotes so that each one lies at the end of the sentence it references. For an example of how this works, please see here. Thanks, GABgab 14:19, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

hello friend thanks for the suggestion i will make changes and comeback to you

hello i have made changes ,kindly go through the draft please and advice me for any more changes if required. i am unable to remove the cluster in the References.kindly help regards geetha

Hello; Unfortunately the current article still contains nothing else convincing so, unless you are able to add all additional amounts of news and information about him; I'm simply not seeing enough to suggest an acceptable article. SwisterTwister talk 07:17, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Draft

[edit]

Hello,

My apologies for just getting back to you - I've been a little busy recently. I've looked at the draft again, and here are some changes and policies you should consider:

  • Neutral point-of-view policy. Right now, the article has a tendency to glorify the subject. On Wikipedia, we require our articles to be written in an objective manner - in other words, write as if you neither like nor dislike the subject. This is essential for an encyclopedia.
  • Reliable sources policy. Please make sure that user-generated content, social media, blogs, and sources connected with the subject are not used in articles. I can see quora and wordpress cited in the draft, which should probably be removed. News sources and credible books are good, but please make sure that they cover the subject in sufficient depth, rather than merely mention them in passing.
  • The biographies of living persons policy - a really important one - states that "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be explicitly attributed to a reliable, published source, which is usually done with an inline citation." Right now, I see a substantial amount of information in the draft that is not cited.
  • Also, image galleries should not be placed in the introduction - please move them below, instead.

I hope this helps out. Regards,

GABgab 16:22, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

hello good morning i will do the changes and come back to you ,thanks for the help and sorry for the repeated drat review. regards

Re: August 3

[edit]

Hi,

Hope you are doing well. Right now, my major concern with the draft is that it is written in a non-neutral manner that uses language tending to glorify the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so we require our articles to be written in a neutral, objective tone. This is especially the case for articles about living people. Here is one example of language that should be reworked:

  • "Although it was very expensive, he felt the thrill and excitement of flying almost at 2 mach(Mach number) speed more than the speed of sound (Supersonic speed) and 7 "g force" (g-force) which was breath taking experience for him.[11]... On 2nd April 2015, he experienced zero gravity flight considered to be a ride of his life time. He was one among the 15 participants from all over the world [13]. The flight took off from Yuri Gagarin Space Center, Moscow. It was his long-cherished dream to float like a cosmonaut in this weightless wonder flight "ZERO G FLIGHT ILYUSHIN 76 MDK" (Ilyushin Il-76)."

In general, it would be good to copyedit the article for grammar and cohesion. Regards,

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for your continued work on the draft and patience. I'm glad to see you edited down some of the ecstatic prose. My other recommendations include:

  • There is a lot of bold text that you may want to consider removing
  • Many of the external links incorporated into the article may be better off in the "External links" section at the bottom
  • There is still a substantial amount of text that could be made more neutral, less effusive, and more encyclopedic. The sections where this is most notable are: "Travel and videos," "Personal life," and "Edge of Space flight." I would really appreciate if you could rework phrases such as "Mr. Kumar nurtured space travel dreams since 1985."
  • When parentheses are used, there is sometimes some unusual spacing. I suspect you are trying to wikilink these phrases, so please see here for help on this.

All the best,

GABgab 15:27, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Sorry to have not gotten back to you earlier. My advice now is pretty much the same as in the previous post - please convert the articles in parentheses into wikilinks, with instructions on how to do that here. Similarly, the external links (the links to other websites in the article) would be better off in a separate "external links section." Some further copyediting (focusing on grammar, spelling, tone, and sentence structure) would be ideal. In addition, please note that Wikipedia doesn't use honorifics - so we would say "Kumar," rather than "Mr. Kumar." Best, GABgab 15:24, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: August 11

[edit]

Hi,

I'm very glad to see that we've been making some progress. I may have mentioned these issues before, but regardless:

  • There is still some unsourced material in the "Accolade," "Early Life," and "Career" sections. Citing this information is necessary to make it verifiable.
  • As for the wikilinks (the blue links), you can make them appear differently from the title. So if you want to link to Space Shuttle Challenger disaster but want it to read "Challenger disaster," you would write this: [[Space Shuttle Challenger disaster|Challenger disaster]], which would appear as Challenger disaster. In other words, the format is [[Actual name of article|What appears on the page]].
  • Please review the article to make sure there's no stray punctuation, and it would be best to make sure there are no extra spaces between text and references.
  • The "Travel and videos" section has a few concerns. First, there is the question of capitalization - words such as "Geyser" don't need to be capitalized. Second, it has some language that would be better suited for advertisement than an encyclopedia article. We would rather avoid phrases such as " ancient, natural and man-made wonders of the world, mysterious & dangerous places." I know I must seem very demanding and unreasonable about this, but the better the draft looks, the less likely it will be deleted once it becomes an article.
  • Also: As per our conflict of interest policy, we strongly discourage "contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial or other relationships." Do you have a conflict of interest in this area?

I advise you ask at the Teahouse for further help on this from more experienced editors.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Geetha akkihebbal. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Draft: T N Suresh Kumar, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. I would greatly appreciate if you could direct further questions to the teahouse, which will be able to answer your questions far more effectively than I can, and will provide much more helpful input. Thanks. GABgab 19:42, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your article

[edit]

I note that you claim that this person was the first Indian to reach the stratosphere, flying in an IAF MiG 29. I do not doubt that he did so, but the Indian air force also flies Mirage 2000 fighters, which reach the same altitude as the Mig 29. They have been in service with the IAF for some twenty years, and I cannot believe that in that time they have failed to reach their performance ceiling, which is the same ceiling as the MiG. Sukhoi 30 aircraft and Mig 21 fighters also have closely comparable flight envelopes, and both serve in India. The MiG 29 mentioned might perhaps have been modified for higher altitude flight; I do not have knowledge of this, but the article does not mention modification. If a normal aircraft was used, the feat must have been equaled many times before in other aircraft of the IAF. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:32, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

HELLO Firstly Mr.kumar did this as a "TOURIST - AS A CIVILIAN /COMMON MAN" AFTER FULFILLING MEDICAL FITNESS. HE DID THIS FROM RUSSIAN SOKOL AIRBASE,NIZNEY NOVGOROD BY MIG-29 AND NOT FROM IAF MIG 29. HE WAS 259th PERSON TO DO SO IN THE WORLD AS A CIVILIAN/COMMON MAN. HOPE THIS CLARIFIES THE MATTER REGARDS
