Notes

[edit]

Hi! It looks like you're going to start a new article on women in economics? I have a few notes, since new articles and especially topics like this need to be approached carefully.

I'd look to how articles on topics like Women in STEM fields, Women in science, and Women in government are set up as a general guideline on how the article should be laid out and sourced. One type of sourcing I can especially recommend would be sourcing that specifically discusses women in economics. (On a side note, the article's title should be "Women in economics" per Wikipedia's styling guidelines, but that's more of an aside since Wikipedia is picky about article titles.) Don't let the size of the pages intimidate you though - you don't have to complete as big and thorough a page as these, as these pages got to be this size via many editors contributing over a longer period of time. The important thing is to have a good page that starts everything off. :)

Definitely include information on the history of women in economics and also make sure that you cover this in a global view. You can include a section on representation of women in economics by country, of course, but the article itself should be general. The list of women economists is also a good idea - I would, however, limit this list to only the most notable of the notable, the ones who have made extremely major contributions to economy and to the representation of women in economics, as the list of women economists (per the category of women economists) would prevent this to a certain degree because of the number of pages. There are ways to link to this category page, however, which I can definitely help you with!

My main emphasis though is definitely make sure that everything is very well sourced. I'd definitely hit up your school library's databases and holdings to see what you can find, as academic sourcing is typically the strongest sourcing out there.

Let me know if you have any questions or assistance with the article! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:58, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
