User talk:GabrielleNSmith
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, GabrielleNSmith, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Mr. Dutch, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! Storchy (talk) 14:14, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit]The draft creator has not addressed the COI/UPE question. The most recent previous decline mentioned two things: the inappropriate tone in the phrase Proud of his roots and humble beginnings
and the COI question. The draft creator removed the words, so they clearly read the decline comment but chose to ignore the COI part of it.
- Please advise on how to further address the page's tone. There is no conflict of interest, I would simply like to publish a page for a musician that does not currently feature on Wiki. I have provided references to support the copy. Thank you. GabrielleNSmith (talk) 09:47, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not have "pages", it has articles. You did not pick this musician at random. How did you come to edit about him? 331dot (talk) 09:51, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- My apologies, the artist does not have an article on Wiki. I came across new music being released by this artist and wondered why there was no Wiki article. The artist has collaborated with several artists that already feature on Wiki and I wanted to contribute my first Wiki article. As a writer I have written for various outlets before and understand Wiki has it's own tone of voice. I wish to have the article published and would appreciate feedback on how I can amend the copy to be suitable for the platform. GabrielleNSmith (talk) 09:55, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- So what you are saying you are a writer as a career but writing about Mr. Dutch is not part of your career? 331dot (talk) 09:58, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- No this is not part of my career and I have not been paid to produce any Wiki copy. Anyone should be able to contribute articles to Wiki. I intended to write my first article for Wiki on the artist and following publication, write and submit articles on various topics. GabrielleNSmith (talk) 10:00, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- You don't have to be specifically paid to edit Wikipedia to be a paid editor under our rules. Any form of paid relationship with a subject triggers the disclosure requirement. 331dot (talk) 10:08, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- The musician is a Nigerian artist and do not have any form of paid relationship with the subject? GabrielleNSmith (talk) 10:10, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Okay. The draft was rejected, which means that it won't be considered any more, at least for now. No amount of editing can confer notability on someone. 331dot (talk) 10:19, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Please can you explain why the article has not met Wiki guidelines. I wish to contribute further articles and would like to understand what can be done to ensure they are approved/published. GabrielleNSmith (talk) 10:21, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- You've been told why before. I may have more to say later; limited on time at the moment. 331dot (talk) 10:24, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

. 331dot (talk) 15:49, 29 November 2022 (UTC)In looking at your edits, you claim the image of Mr. Dutch, which seems a professionally taken image, as your own work. Either it is, and you have not been entirely forthcoming about your relationship with him, or it isn't, in which case you have violated copyright. Either is sufficient reason to block, but given your other edits and seeming investment in this topic, I am inclined to believe the former. 331dot (talk) 15:52, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
