Vandalism

[edit]

If you feel I left a warning in error, or disagree with my statements, please let me know, I some times make mistakes too. GWatson 01:10, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trish Stratus Picture

[edit]

Actually, I was not "warned" for changing the picture. The person who thinks they are in charge of the page told me not to change it because it was "too old", so i put up the most recent one that exists and that got deleted too. does that make sense to you. It's actually subjective whether an image is worthwhile, and it is not up to a single person to warn others for changing images. I was 100% within my rights to change that image, I was trying to improve the page. The new pic is only a few weeks old, by far the most recent, (the other pic is a few months old) so please don't revert it becasue it will go back to an old picture. Geez I didnt realise it was a crime to add a picture to improve an article.Murph murph 01:58, 3 June 2006 (UTC) (Don't take this personally by the way I know i may sound aggressive, and you don't know the full story so it's not your fault at all)[reply]

I have left a reply at Murph murph Talk Page -- GWatson • TALK 02:03, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Ok, that's true I did delete messages, but that's beacuse I thought you could delete them once you had read them. As you can see when I realised you weren't supposed to I tried to put the comments back on my page. It won't happen again. But does this mean you won't change the image again? Murph murph 13:31, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have left this reply on your talk page:
I have taken away my case against you as I believe you truely want to contribute to wikipedia in a positive manner. I will look into the photograph more closely to see which one is correct, if a problem like this happens again, go the article discussion page and post your complaint there, revert it back with a note in the Edit Summary telling people to read the discussion page. If it is changed again, follow the procedures on resolving disputes. I hope this helps. GWatson • TALK 19:35, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering how to make a specialized signature like Wes' above. GWatson 12:48, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Sign_your_posts_on_talk_pages#Customizing_your_signature should contain all information you need to create your signature. --Bertolotti 12:53, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Dear GWatson,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that not enough mainspace edit. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Hello, I've listed Image:WpHalo.jpg at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a derivative of the Halo logo and, therefore, not really public domain. I have no artistic skills; otherwise, I'd try to cook up a logo myself. However, we cannot use anything that would infringe on copyright or trademarks. — TKD::Talk 06:05, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, looks good. — TKD::Talk 11:23, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article for deletion

[edit]

Magnetic Accelerator Cannon is being proposed for deletion. I do not feel it should be deleted, but merged into the future Technology of Halo article, because it is unsourced and written in an in-universe tone. Please lend your support. --DevastatorIIC 00:18, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject North Carolina

[edit]

In an effort to expand this project, I've requested a bot tag most of the articles under the Category:North Carolina. If you could, please look over this list User:Betacommand/North Carolina and remove any that should not get tagged with the Wikiproject North Carolina Template. Thanks Morphh 01:18, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested addition

[edit]

Perhaps a section for Education or Higher Education (which could include today's featured article on Duke) could be added to the section, "Wikipedia articles on North Carolina."

Well done, all.

Need help getting started

[edit]

There is a page that I want to expand (|Wilmington Insurrection of 1898|), but I've never done any expansions before. I really don't know how to set up the page nor do I know the best way to catagorize the information. I've looked at the discussion and it isn't very helpful. I am doing a project on the event for school, so I know all the information and have every fact's source documented in detail. Any advise on where to begin would be wonderful. PS-I'm from Alton, IL and have never even been to NC; I hope that doesn't become a problem when I want to join the NC project. :)--Denis Diderot II 04:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:WpHalo.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:WpHalo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. In order to streamline and coordinate further improvement to Halo-related articles, there is an active roll call to all Wikipedians who put themselves down as participants. To show your continued involvement in the project, simply go here and sign your name. If you do not wish to be active, et al, simply ignore this notice and you will not be bugged again. Thanks, David Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!)

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Wikimania in Atlanta!

[edit]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 22:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject North Carolina Newsletters

WikiProject North Carolina May 2008 Newsletter

[edit]
NEWSLETTER
Issue One • May 2008About the Newsletter

News

Cape Lookout Lighthouse

Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina.

  • A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page!
  • If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants.
  • If you have any questions in regards to the project, feel free to contact someone from The Newsroom Team. Thanks for all of your hard work and happy editing!

I have nominated Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
