Responding to "mentioning caste in a biography of a living person"
I'm sorry but several notable person articles on Wikipedia have their castes mentioned as well, despite lack of self-identification, on account of existing third-party sources. I can keep bringing up examples. One example is Abhijit Banerjee, fellow Nobel Prize winner. He's never publicly stated he's a Brahmin, but there are numerous third party sources that attest to that claim. If mention of caste is justified in that article, for instance, it completely is, in the case of Amartya Sen as well. However, you may start a discussion on the talk page if you have a dispute vis a vis the same. Thanks. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:02, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Dissoxciate: Abide by the policy, not whataboutism. You are free to remove caste from BLPs if those lack self-identification. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:08, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Not whataboutism in the slightest. I'm stating a reason for my actions. A good chunk of living person articles on Wikipedia do not abide by the policy, hence the example. Dissoxciate (talk) 11:10, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Dissoxciate: Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Experienced users can't keep a tab on all the BLPs. As I said, you are free to remove caste from BLPs that lack self-identification. The policies are what we abide by, no exceptions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:12, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Moving
Hi. Could you please move Ngareima back to Ngaleima (original title + common name)? It was moved by someone without discussion. Technically, it was "undiscussed move" as well. Besides, all the articles of the sister wikipedias of other languages use the common title. Haoreima (talk) 05:10, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
