I saw you were changing from Sino Tibetan to Tibeto Burman & the same thing from Indo European to Indo Aryan. I was wondering about Dravidian! Tamil is explained as a Dravidian language, and the same was found in numerous other languages of the same family, like Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, etc. Similar thing is followed in the articles like Greek language, Japanese language, Burmese language, etc. In these articles, topmost level of linguistic classification are mentioned instead of their lowest level.

On another note, for example, for Meitei language, I want to write the description as "a language belonging to the Tibeto Burman branch of the Sino Tibetan language family" exactly like that of Latin - "language belonging to the Italic branch of the Indo-European languages", or Sanskrit - "language belonging to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European languages", or English language - "a West Germanic language in the Indo-European language family". They're all rewriting their sub branch as well as main grouping even though everyone knows that Indo Aryan belongs to Indo European family. Any ideas? Haoreima (talk) 20:33, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

@Haoreima:Articles like German, Pashto, Swedish do not mention super-family in the short description. It may be because the subfamilies they belong to (West Germanic, North Germanic and East Irenic) are vast and well studied, same is the case with Indo-Aryan branch of the family. The sub-families of the Dravidian group are not that notable and WP:READERS wouldn't benefit much if someone says Tamil belongs to "Southern" branch of the family. I believe that Tibeto-Burmese languages are well studied and notable as a major subgroup of the larger Sino-Tibetan family, not to mention the regional position of these languages. So, it is enough for me to be mentioned in the SD, besides in many cases, that classification is/has been the stable version of SD in the article. AS for lead, you can always write "a language belonging to the Tibeto Burman branch of the Sino Tibetan language family". Regards. I'll continue the discussion tomorrow if necessary. @RegentsPark: If I remember correctly, they seem to have a positive POV regarding Saraswat Brahmin and Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (possibly their own caste) as well as Chitpavan Brahmins. While 'not so positive' for Deshastha Brahmin, Karhade Brahmin. Also by extension they seem to be interested in Marathi Brahmin article as well as other Saraswat Brahmin groups.
