Your edits to AT Attachment
[edit]Hi,
You wrote
However, most modern devices will report write operations as complete once the data is stored in its onboard cache memory, before the data is written to the (slow) magnetic storage. This allows commands to be sent to the other device on the cable, reducing the impact of the "one operation at a time" limit.
You have a point, however this will only help as long as the cache isn't full. Once the cache is full the drive is again running at the speed imposed by the media.
And of course reads can only happen at the speed of the media... unless the readahead strategy in the drive happens to do the right thing.
For writing, just a qualifier - "As long as the cache is not full, this allows..." - would fix things right up. For reading the verbiage is a bit more involved.
Just a suggestion for ever yet more accuracy and completeness. :)
In any case, thank you for your input!
By the way, the re-renaming of that page is being discussed on its talk page: talk:Advanced Technology Attachment. Your input would be welcome. Jeh (talk) 12:30, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:56, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
