Garchy (talk) 19:10, 24 January 2017 (UTC) FrenchScholar (talk) 19:14, 24 January 2017 (UTC) Thanks can you let me know if I can now take away the below items from the Keele University page? There has been so many cuts, surely, now this is satisfactory?

Hi FrenchScholar (talk · contribs) First I did want to say thanks again for your numerous contributions to the Wiki - I didn't want to forget to WELCOME you to Wiki after all your hard work! I know it can be disheartening to work hard and see your edits go through many revisions (by many other editors), but it is always for the greater good of the overall mission, and you have been a very good team player! As for the tags, I would leave them for now. Tags are not meant as a "scarlet letter" if you will, they are not meant to stigmatize an article - rather they are put there to help improve the article and to draw attention of other editors who are willing to help. If I were you I would leave the tags for now (since they haven't been there for long) and wait for an uninvolved editor to remove them - once another editor feels enough progress has been made I'm sure they will remove them! Cheers, Garchy (talk) 19:30, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello FrenchScholar, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Keele University has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:11, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
FrenchScholar (talk) 04:33, 5 October 2016 (UTC) I will do.
Please read the policy. You cannot use that cover in that article. If you do it again I will have to block you for violating our policy on non-free content. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 00:36, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
FrenchScholar (talk) 04:32, 5 October 2016 (UTC) That cover was already there, I simply moved it!
Disambiguation link notification for October 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Keele Hall, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles II. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Minor edits
[edit]Please stop marking edits such as [1] as minor in flagrant breach of WP:MINOR: "A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous versions. Examples include typographical corrections, formatting and presentational changes, and rearrangements of text without modification of its content. A minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute." Jonathan A Jones (talk) 10:54, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
FrenchScholar (talk) Yes, apologies, will do.
Thanks. Feel free to redo any edits I have undone: they weren't necessarily wrong, they just weren't minor. Jonathan A Jones (talk) 13:50, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, FrenchScholar. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Keele University, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Hello, and thank you for your contributions. I just wanted to let you know there are some concerns that based on your editing history you may have a COI with Keele University. You are encouraged to read more here, as remaining neutrality is paramount. Garchy (talk) 21:52, 23 January 2017 (UTC) FrenchScholar (talk) Thanks, I try to be as neutral and balanced as possible. I have no interests linked to Keele University, just a former student. The previous page contents were terrible with no photos and did not depict an accurate picture of the university.
- Thanks for replying and letting us know! I'm sure there will be other editors on the page helping out (adapting wording, moving things around, etc.) so feel free to reach out to them or myself if you need any help or have any questions. Thanks! Garchy (talk) 22:01, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
FrenchScholar (talk) Also, everything is in my own words, there is no paraphrasing with documentation and material sourced.
- This source shows that there is close paraphrasing within the article. The discussion about a potential COI (being a former student means you have an external relationship with the school) has been discussed here. Please do not remove the tags right now. Thank you, Garchy (talk) 22:15, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
FrenchScholar (talk) There is NO paraphrasing, I have made sure all is in my own words and documented accordingly. Also, I was a student 20 years ago! This is completely ridiculous.
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Wikipedia. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
Yes, conflict of interest is an issue here, as is WP:OWNERSHIP, which is why I've requested assistance from other editors. I've also removed several passages that were copyright violations--I've no idea whether they were added by you or another account, but they couldn't stay. Thanks for all the constructive additions you've made here, 2601:188:1:AEA0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 22:44, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- FrenchScholar, Please don't remove the COI tag from the page unless another editor does so. As the tag was in relation to your edits (whether you agree or not) it would be best to allow someone else to remove it. Garchy (talk) 20:19, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:Keele University Library
[edit]Hello, FrenchScholar. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Keele University Library".
In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. 1989 18:59, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Your addition to Keele University has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. — Diannaa (talk) 12:47, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
I have removed some more copyright violations today. This is your final warning. Further copyright violations will result in you being blocked from editing. — Diannaa (talk) 13:16, 27 July 2017 (UTC) FrenchScholar (talk) -This was not a copyright violation, data was retrieved from the statement of accounts 2015/16. This is nothing less than scandalous. I will never post anything on this page. You should be ashamed of yourself.. Do you understand the difference between annotating and referencing a source AND copying directly? And deleting whole passages as considered promotional? What qualifications do you have? What gives you that right????? FrenchScholar (talk) This is nothing less than fascism.
Davey2010 Why did noy completely delete changes I made to KUBE RADIO and Concourse?

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 21:28, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
