Welcome

[edit]

Hello, I have been assigned as your Wikipedia mentor. If you add content, especially one that could be contentious such as describing a government as a "dictatorship", you should supplement it with a reliable source making the statement, and ideally attribute it to them (say X criticized the government of Mauritius for Y, describing it as a 'dictatorship', instead of directly the government of Mauritius is a dictatorship).

Additionally, multiple accounts are not allowed: if User:2024 BOYCOTT MSM is related to you or an alternate account of yours, please clearly disclose it here, and do not try to use multiple accounts to avoid scrutiny. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 17:11, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/FreeMauritius. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Request reason:

I am very sorry for the vandalisation that I did on the Mauritius Government page. I understand how horrible and unethical what I did was, and I am sorry for any distress I caused, because of the lies that I tried to spread. I humbly request that I am unbanned, as I have been banned for more than a week now, and have learned my lesson.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=I am very sorry for the vandalisation that I did on the Mauritius Government page. I understand how horrible and unethical what I did was, and I am sorry for any distress I caused, because of the lies that I tried to spread. I humbly request that I am unbanned, as I have been banned for more than a week now, and have learned my lesson. |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=I am very sorry for the vandalisation that I did on the Mauritius Government page. I understand how horrible and unethical what I did was, and I am sorry for any distress I caused, because of the lies that I tried to spread. I humbly request that I am unbanned, as I have been banned for more than a week now, and have learned my lesson. |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:

{{unblock reviewed |1=I am very sorry for the vandalisation that I did on the Mauritius Government page. I understand how horrible and unethical what I did was, and I am sorry for any distress I caused, because of the lies that I tried to spread. I humbly request that I am unbanned, as I have been banned for more than a week now, and have learned my lesson. |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}

Hi, I fixed your unblock request template as it didn't render correctly. As an advice, an important thing you should address in your unblock request is your use of multiple accounts. The accounts User:2024 BOYCOTT MSM and User:Northern Lights34 were blocked, but it could be helpful if you disclosed any other accounts you used for the sake of transparency. More generally, explaining clearly and precisely what you did wrong and why it was wrong would show your understanding of the situation to the administrator reviewing your unblock request.
I strongly advise you to read our policy page on Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry, and to consider the possibility of an administrator requesting a one-account restriction or the Wikipedia:Standard offer as a condition for unblocking. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 14:52, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chaotic Enby,
Thank you for the clarification, it is much appreciated. Enclosed is my revised unblock request.
I admit that I wrongly used multiple accounts, such as, User:2024 BOYCOTT MSM, User:Northern Lights34, and User:SpringMeadows, and I am very sorry that I did this. However, I am new to Wikipedia, and did not know that the creation of multiple accounts was not allowed.
This, however, does not justify what I did. I called the Mauritian government a "dictatorship" due to the social media ban, and implied that this was due to them wanting to hide secrets that were allegedly being leaked. I did what I did because I am a Mauritian citizen, and I couldn't get hold of my parents for one whole day, because of the ban. I was terrified for their safety, and I was angry. I blamed the government and the prime minister, when they were not to blame at all. What I did was wrong was because I was disturbing the peace, and I did not realise that the social media ban was not actually a ban at all, as it was restored after one day.
I am very sorry once again. I promise you that if you unblock me, I will do any more vandalisation. Please restrict my account to a one-account restriction of NorthernLights34, and delete my account of FreeMauritius and SpringMeadows. I am very sorry again for the distress I caused. One last question, are there specific topics you plan to edit in once unblocked? It could be good to avoid editing about Mauritian politics for a while, and especially to have other topics you can focus on. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 16:46, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've given this some thought, and I would plan to edit in topics concerning the visa policies of specific countries, for example, when a country gives visa free access to a new country, I plan to edit the pages to reflect this, along with a source, as this will benefit everyone reading the page. I do not plan to edit any pages concerning Mauritius or its politics. FreeMauritius (talk) 18:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
