[edit]The Original Barnstar | |
FrB.TG, I'm sincerely sad to hear you're leaving. Thanks again for all your support with that article I was working on for so long. And many congratulations for Emma Stone and now Taylor Swift. Great work on those (and I see you've had a very long list of other successes over the last two years)! Wikipedia will be a little bit lonelier without you to swap encouragement with. Good luck in all your future endeavors in real life, and take care. Moisejp (talk) 04:48, 1 November 2016 (UTC) |
Thank you, Moisejp. I've just decided not to create content for an indefinite period. I never had the joy of having an FA on first attempt, something I achieved with Taylor Swift's article, a stress-free nomination - I'm glad. – FrB.TG (talk) 17:25, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Hope you are doing well. - Well, I'll try this again, you are required to give a reasonable explanation when you keep reverting other people's edits. The worldwide figure is 5 years old, so of course it is lower. Hzh (talk) 21:27, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I've recently been working on this article and just wanted to get in touch with few native speakers who would review it for me, so that everything is grammatically correct and flows nicely. I would really appreciate your help. ArturSik (talk) 18:53, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks a lot for your edits. There's one more thing, don't know if you've noticed anything weird about it, but one of the other users that I got in touch with has said that the name of the award category 'Best Artist in Web' doesn't make sense and he doesn't know what it means, I've found another translation - 'Best Artist Network' if that helps but I personally think that 'Best Artist in Web' is pretty clear. basically what it is awarded for are the YT views, social media, followers etc, their online image. actually, there's something else. someone also suggested that the information '... with a degree in fashion design' from the lead should be removed as she's not known as a fashion designer and doesn't do anything in fashion as a designer, and I agree with that, what do you think? ArturSik (talk) 19:38, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- What can you do if the title of the category does not make sense? A title is a title you can't change it. I agree with the fashion designing bit to not be present in the lead. - FrB.TG (talk) 19:44, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- Well it does make sense in Polish and I'm trying to find the best possible translation so that English-speaking people can understand what it means. I didn't know that 'Best Artist in Web' means absolutely nothing. Don't know what to do about it. ArturSik (talk) 13:36, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

- thanks for the input, and no I didn't tbh, cause you - English speakers - wouldn't understand it anyway, that's why I wanted to find the best translation for it, but as it turns out you don't understand that one either. I think it's the use of words that makes it so hard to translate, cause in English you wouldn't name it that way. God why did they make it so difficult? ArturSik (talk) 18:00, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- I am not a native speaker of English. Perhaps you could write it as "Best Artist on the Internet"? - FrB.TG (talk) 18:37, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Lady Gaga
[edit]You removed this bit here about the record for The Monster Ball Tour, with the edit summary as asking what The Fame Ball Tour was. Well the record specified by Billboard is for a "debut headlining artist". Gaga did not headline always with the Fame Ball since she was the opening act in many areas. With Monster Ball she was the headlining act always. I suggest you restore this bit. I did not want to revert you thinking to cause bad faith. —IB [ Poke ] 12:53, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

Incorrect correction
[edit]You are possibly already aware of this error. You incorrectly "corrected" my correction of incorrect "whom" to correct "who" in the article "Bradley Cooper." The sentence in question was, "He cites actor Daniel Day-Lewis as an influence, whom he thinks is "the World's Greatest Actor." The dependant clause is "who is the world's greatest actor," with "who" as the subject. The "he thinks" is merely a parenthetical phrase and has no influence on the who/whom question. [edit]Hi. First of all, sorry for reverting your edit. That was just an accident as I intended to talk to you first. You said that I should add the information about the child when he/she is born, but why? For example, there's already mentioned on Beyoncé's article that she's expecting twins. Another example would be George Clooney. So may I ask why you think we shouldn't include details about Cooper's unborn child on his article? Keivan.fTalk 11:18, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Peter Dinklage
[edit]Hi. I have been looking at the amazing work you have done on the Emma Stone articles. I myself have been working on Peter Dinklage articles:
- Peter Dinklage is a Good Aricle now, working on FA
- Peter Dinklage on screen and stage has been brought up to FL
- List of awards and nominations received by Peter Dinklage has been nominated for a FL
I can see that you are semi-retired now, but i'm wondering if you have time, could you look at Wikipedia:Peer review/Peter Dinklage/archive1 and give some feedback to what I need to improve, for me to nominate it for FA. - AffeL (talk) 12:20, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words, AffeL. Do you mind if I perform some tweaks myself instead of suggesting them at the PR? – FrB.TG (talk) 19:20, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yes.. go ahead. That's more than enough. - AffeL (talk) 19:51, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Copy-edit
[edit]Hey Frankie, I hope that you're doing well. If you find some spare time, can you help me with a quick copy-edit to Nil Battey Sannata? It's a relatively short article, and though I feel that the prose is lacking in parts, I promise it won't be too much work. Thanks either way. NumerounovedantTalk 19:19, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

[edit]I'm afraid although I agree with the whole cleanup going on, the prose is severely affected now with proseline. Let me know once you are done with this as it would require a good copy edit. —IB [ Poke ] 10:51, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- The rest of the sections are fine. The 2015 one is however a little bit tricky because of the different types of work she has since done. Honestly I don't think there is so much we can do about it, as it is quite difficult to connect them with each other. – FrB.TG (talk) 13:13, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- No I do not think the rest of the sections are also totally fine. And I'm sure a prose refresh and copy edit would be needed. Connection can me made using bit of direct quotes and maybe we can prune some stuff actually altogether. Like commercials and live performances unless its an impactful one. —IB [ Poke ] 06:24, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree. Not all performances and commercials need to be included, as it has unnecessarily increased the size of the article, which is quite large for a young woman like Gaga. We can look upon Taylor Swift and Katy Perry as models for Gaga's article. – FrB.TG (talk) 12:45, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Appian Way Productions
[edit]Dropping by belatedly, I just wanted to say that your reaction to my oppose on this article is one of the best I've ever come across. It's very rare for a nominator to say: "Actually, you're right, I'll withdraw this and work on it some more". If everyone was so collegiate, FAC would run a lot more smoothly! Thanks for that, and let me know if I can be of any assistance when you get to looking at this. I'm not sure I can help on sourcing as I had a look myself when I reviewed, but you never know. Sarastro1 (talk) 12:11, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
Hi, I see you removed Ryan Gosling's image and I just wanted to say that he received nominations from several film critics organizations, as well as rave reviews for his performance in the film, like his co-star Emma Stone and director Damien Chazelle. If he had not received that many nominations then it would be right to not put his image but the fact is that he did received that amount of nominations and his image should be in the article. Now, if you think three images are overkill, we can reduce the size of the images but please, don not remove Ryan Gosling's image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.209.30.179 (talk) 00:39, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

It is my pleasure to help you with reliable sources and to make Lady Gaga's Wikipedia page better. I am new here and I don't know if this is a place to ask you, but can you please consider adding at least two more artists that Gaga has influenced. I wrote them in Talk:Lady Gaga and was denied. Katy Perry and Ariana Grande are both huge artists and both are so much influenced by Gaga. I am not trying to make a complete list of artists that were influenced by Gaga because I can find you more than 100. These are big artists that she inspired and deserve to be in her Legacy part of page. Maybe if there are too many listed you can remove Ashley Tisdale for example and add those two. You have the reliable sources on the Talk:Lady Gaga. Thanks in advance!
P.S. there is an article "How Lady Gaga Raised the Standards for Ambition in Pop" by Billboard which should be added to her legacy page also. JoDash (talk) 18:39, 13 August 2017 (UTC) |
- JoDash, welcome to Wikipedia, I hope you find it a place worth spending your time on. I will be adding Perry and Grande's names in the Legacy section soon. Cheers – FrB.TG (talk) 07:45, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Lady Gaga's Legacy
[edit]There is this new article written by Hugh McIntyre from Forbes in which he claims that "Lady Gaga was one of the first artists currently helping usher in this new era with her latest album Joanne, which saw her put down the disco stick and pick up an acoustic guitar" and "Since then, a number of superstars have decided to stick with full bands and guitars [...] Miley Cyrus’ new single “Malibu” [...] while former One Direction member Harry Styles went one step further and dove headfirst into light glam rock with his first solo album and its lead single “Sign Of The Times.”" He is basically saying that like when 10 years ago Gaga brought back dance music to Top 40 with her debut album, now she's helping usher new acoustic era with her new album Joanne. I think that's interesting and would be a great fit for her legacy part. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2017/08/16/lady-gaga-miley-kesha-top-40-pop-has-gone-acoustic-but-is-it-going-well/#81d63144e7fa
Plus similar article about this was written by Billboard. With 'Million Reasons,' Is Lady Gaga Bringing Back 'The Vocalist Era'? http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7744316/with-million-reasons-is-lady-gaga-bringing-back-the-vocalist-era
In the legacy part after the sentence: In 2015, Time also noted that Gaga had "practically invented the current era of pop music as spectacle.", I would add: In August 2017, Hugh McIntyre from Forbes, credited Gaga for "helping usher in this new era with her latest album Joanne, which saw her put down the disco stick and pick up an acoustic guitar".
Please consider adding this. I think it's important for her legacy part, because she has always been a trendsetter. Thanks! By the way, why was Katy Perry removed from the list of artists? JoDash (talk) 01:49, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) KP got removed since the citation used didn't exactly show so much of an influence on her material or anything; it really was just comparing one of her outfits to what Gaga once wore. As for impact, trying to think of how much from those links is worth adding. Snuggums (talk / edits) 17:05, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- I think that the Vanity Fair article is perfect citation because they are specifically saying how big of an influence and inspiration Gaga is to Katy and "it wouldn’t be the first time Perry has been inspired by Gaga.". There are more links on my post on the bottom of the page "Talk:Lady Gaga" in which other critics are saying how Katy was inspired by Gaga for her tour, interlude videos, merchandise designs. [1] [2] [3] It doesn't need to be said directly from Katy: "I am inspired by Gaga!" to see that she is inspired. Over the years Katy has shown so much love and admiration for Gaga, for example: https://twitter.com/katyperry/status/13351224809 On her Witness World Wide she said: "I would love Gaga to come but she's busy filming her film. I love her so much. She knows that. I want to see it.", then she also made a pancake with Gaga's face on it: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DCJWtL0XsAEHPtJ.jpg She also said in this next video about Gaga that "she is like the next Madonna, but better". Here is the link to the video at 0:30: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt8LXMBY5oU There are so many sources in which the influence is obvious: http://s3-ak.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/terminal01/2011/9/30/17/enhanced-buzz-32427-1317417793-1.jpg , https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bk_J5erCQAIMrUc.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DHnQG4DWsAIEjtP.jpg Inspiration and influence come in many forms. So, please consider re-adding Katy to the Legacy part. JoDash (talk) 23:31, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- As for the impact those links (From Forbes and Billboard) are very reliable and ever since the release of Joanne, many artists including Miley (With her whole image change, stripped down acoustic sound, use of cowboy hats, singing country inspired songs all of a sudden. [4] [5] Miley is no stranger of following Gaga's footsteps in terms of music, style choices. In 2015 she even started to dress like Gaga during her ARTPOP era [6] ), Kesha (Article from The Atlantic: "Like Gaga with last year’s Joanne, Kesha trades thumping electro for analogue instruments and genres" and "Also like Gaga, she tries to execute this turn while tamping down, but not altogether ditching, her previous persona.". Here is the link: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/08/kesha-rainbow-review-human-superhero/536355/), Harry Styles chose the same path. Gaga is credited for shifting the music in 2008 to dance, where top 40 radio was heavily hip hop, R&B influenced. Now they are acknowledging her impact on ushering acoustic / vocalist era in pop culture. JoDash (talk) 23:40, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Gaga FAC
[edit]The article has come up beautifully. I don't know how you do it you sneaky little elf, but you don't create anything less than masterpieces do you? :P I have one suggestion. Do you think we might add one image from the Born This Way era? Because that was kind of the transition for Gaga. We can show the images in this way: An image from the said era where Gaga is shown at her craziest, and maybe replace the Artpop era with one from the Cheek to Cheek era, to show how she cleaned up her image and public persona. The captions reflecting them too. —IB [ Poke ] 04:56, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- Haha, thanks - I'd wait for the admin to finish his comments. If he's satisfied with the article, we'll go to FAC. As for the images, I completely agree so go ahead. :-) – FrB.TG (talk) 06:24, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

Martine McCutcheon review
[edit]Hi, I have just expanded the 'Early life' section in this article. Its based on Martine's biography and I think that because of that it might not be written how we tend to write on Wikipedia. There's a lot of informations about her parents and it's hard to avoid mentioning their names a lot which makes it sound a bit informal I think.
