Disambiguation link notification for May 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
- Copromyxa protea
- added a link pointing to Sporocyst
- Far-right politics in Israel
- added a link pointing to Liberal
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 17:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @DPL bot: Is there an efficient way to know if I'm adding disambiguation links? The way to be sure would be to follow every link I add, but is there a way to quickly spot errors? FourPi (talk) 13:08, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
pdf icon on references

How do I make the pdf icon show up on references? It is on some but not others in United States Patent and Trademark Office. Is it automated? The refs I'm trying to add it to don't have ".pdf" in the URL. FourPi (talk) 13:05, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi FourPi. I'm pretty sure the PDF icon on the sources is automated, though it seems like only one source on United States Patent and Trademark Office is missing that icon since they show up on the rest of the PDF sources for me. I'm not quite sure why it doesn't show up either. The Night Watch (talk) 19:48, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi FourPi. You can use the format=PDF parameter to indicate the file type. Unfortunately, it does not render the icon, which only happens when the template automatically detects that the source is a PDF. It's still worth it, I think, so that readers know what will happen when they click on the URL. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 20:51, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Bsoyka (t • c • g) 02:17, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- A lot of my large edits are just formatting multiple refs that were bare links. I think I usually write "refs" or similar for that, but I probably forget sometimes. Other times I'm not sure what to say, but I'll try to write at least a couple of words from now on. I'll turn on the reminder, thank you for telling me how to do that. FourPi (talk) 03:10, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- No worries—I don't mean to make a big deal out of this! It's just something helpful to other editors whenever they come across your edits one way or another, either through your contributions page or seeing your changes on an article's history. Without any note, it's hard to tell what you've done without opening the edit itself and looking through it. I appreciate that you'll try to work on that! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me (or your mentor above—she's a great person to ask!) if you ever have any questions about contributing to Wikipedia. Thanks for your many contributions, have a great day, and happy editing! Bsoyka (t • c • g) 04:33, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
Will you help me
help me fix the Brian Draper and Torey Adamcik article https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Draper_and_Torey_Adamcik 105.69.73.176 (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've never heard of either of those people. Why me? FourPi (talk) 23:19, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- Here (in the main English Wikipedia) the article is called Murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart. I've connected the article you linked to the corresponding articles in other languages. If you wanted something else, you'll need to be more specific? FourPi (talk) 23:24, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
Edit reverted
hello
your recent edit was reverted https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blockade_of_the_Gaza_Strip&diff=prev&oldid=1238698621
it is causing issues with visual editor
it also reverted my change and you did not provide a reason Astropulse (talk) 07:21, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry. I didn't intend to revert yours. I think we must have been editing the page at the same time, I only intended to move the boxes, not change that bit of text.
- The boxes and sidebars etc. going thin-wide-thin, made the text a strange shape, that was particularly awkward on narrow screens. But if it caused a bigger problem elsewhere I don't mind my change being undone.
- FourPi (talk) 09:58, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Astropulse. It looks like somebody else has now removed what you added and asked you to discuss it on the talk page.
- I actually like what you added – if I'm interpreting the edit history correctly? – it's definitely worth mentioning that there was a blockade before 2007.
- But I'm staying out of the discussion on the page because I only intended to change the layout. Just letting you know so you don't think it was me again, or for if you wanted to raise it on the talk page yourself.

Template:Hamas
I would appreciate it if you added to the navigation template Template:Hamas this link
* tunnel warfare
The Hamas tunnels are a significant part of their warfare אדומיניק (talk) 19:34, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- @אדומיניק, I agree it's relevant, but you need to request it on the talk page for the article you want changed: Talk:Palestinian tunnel warfare in the Gaza Strip.
- You really should do it as a Wikipedia:Edit requests. If you use this Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard it's fairly easy. I'm guessing the last option "page is protected" / "you can't edit the page" is the reason you need somebody else to add it? If that's the reason then this link takes you there directly: Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard/Protected. If you paste Palestinian tunnel warfare in the Gaza Strip in the box on that page it writes all the code for you, and then just paste what you've written here in the section where it tells his to write your request.
- Sorry it's a bit complicated،, I often wish Wikipedia made things like that simpler for new editors, but hopefully my summary of the instructions makes sense?

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Welcome, FourPi!
Welcome to Wikipedia, FourPi! I'm I dream of horses, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:23, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. FourPi (talk) 16:18, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses First question, what's the difference between notices and alerts? The bell and the other thingy in the top right? FourPi (talk) 16:23, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Notices seem to only notify me of two things:
- People thanking you
- Links that are created to articles you've created
- Alerts seems to notify me of everything else (reverts, people pinging me, talk page messages, etc.) So, basically, the gist is, alerts notify you of more, and notices are more specific. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 07:27, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses, thank you.
- So, am I correct to deduce that the alerts are more urgent and the notices are just nice things that can wait? Where do talk pages messages fit in that hierarchy?
- FourPi (talk) 05:34, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- You are more or less correct, but there's always a slight amount of everything being situation dependent.
- Talk page messages greatly vary in how urgent they are; it can range from "Hey, [insert further greeting and/or compliment here]." to "You are blocked/about to be blocked from Wikipedia." I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:02, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses, did I do that archive correctly? FourPi (talk) 00:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Notices seem to only notify me of two things:
Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip
In your edit of 10:18, 20 August 2024 (UTC) of Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, you caused two ref names, B'tselem
and B'tselemBombed Fam
, to be used without definitions. Please fix. —Anomalocaris (talk) 18:11, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Anomalocaris I think I fixed it now. Thank you for explaining the problem so clearly, telling me exact refs missing and page etc. FourPi (talk) 22:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Good job on fixing the missing ref names. In that edit, you changed
