April 2019
[edit]Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Agriculture, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. I don't think you understand enough to start creating and using categories. Your 'Actions' category is certainly no use in its current form as it would apply to many thousands of articles adding no useful information. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:53, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Soil management. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:15, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Category:Actions has been nominated for discussion
[edit]Category:Actions, which you created, has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. action categories and pages
[edit]Hi. I wish for there to be a category for actions. To pick out the pages that are about things that living beings do by a choice. Can you tell me if you think that is a bad idea?
- Yes, I think it bad. Why? Because this is a large encyclopedia, and a category as loose as that would encompass hundreds of thousands of articles. Worse, its meaning is hopelessly unclear, and different editors would interpret it very differently. That makes it a bad and indeed dangerously misleading category, exactly the opposite of what we need. Thank you for coming to discuss the matter; it would be better if you discussed your plans further with other editors before undertaking more edits. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:26, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Removal of comment
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Categories for discussion notices from category pages, or remove other people's comments in Categories for discussion debates, as you did with Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2019 April 26. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion, merger, or renaming of a category, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. [edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Speedy deletion nomination of 2nd-millennium disestablishment in Europe
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on 2nd-millennium disestablishment in Europe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Exploring the idea to be able to focus on knowledge in terms of actions
[edit]Apparently "Actions" as a broad category would be hopelessly vague. I feel it would be a fascinating way to look at knowledge and wish to explore whether it would be possible or if indeed I am wrong and it is not a good way of organizing knowledge. I guess you can help populate this list if you wish. Feel free.
Examples of obvious "action" pages and categories
[edit]Soil conservation, Environmental engineering, Ocean governance, Earth system governance,Road traffic control, Mining,
Category:Research projects, Category:Collaborative projects Category:Action plans, Category:Urban development, Category: Urban design, Category: Urban design, Category:Zoning, Category:Computer-mediated communication, Category:Research projects, Category:Human activities, [[:]]
Examples of pages that may do well by being redefined as actions
[edit]Possible examples of pages where categorizing them into actions might be confusing
[edit]Roadworks you might think is it a thing or an act. Centrifuge there is a page for the equipment but also a section on the page for its uses Centrifuge#Uses Maybe that is what you would link to. Composting redirects to compost
Examples of obvious non-action pages
[edit]Conveyor bridge we have mining but not this mining mashine
