Ziad Bakir was born on November 9, 1973 and graduated in 1995 from Helwan University Faculty of Fine Arts (Zamalek, Cairo) with a BA in Interior Design.

In 1997, he started working on his Master's degree on "Neorealist Cinema in Egypt (1982- ) Visual Concept". His professional experience includes work as a stage designer as well as an interior and graphic designer.

In the last years of his life, he was best known for his remarkable work in the design office of the Cairo Opera House, where he led a team of graphic designers and worked on all the printed materials for the opera.

The death of Ziad Bakir, one of the martyrs of the January Revolution of Egypt, has shaken his family, his friends and many art professionals.

Ziad Mohamed Saleh Bakir left his home on January 28, the 4th day of the revolution, and did not return.

During the following 44 days, his family continued to search for him, hoping to find him alive. During all these weeks, the family contacted virtually all Egyptian and international media to assist them in their search, contacted all major institutions and officials for assistance, and searched all hospitals and morgues. There was no trace of Ziad.

The family also visited the Zenhom morgue in Cairo several times. When the body of Tarek Abdel Latif, one of the martyrs of the revolution, was found on March 10, Ziad's story took a sad turn.

"During the weeks of searching for Tarek and Ziad, we became closer as a family. Tarek's wife called us on March 9 and said she had found her husband in Zenhom. Unfortunately, he was dead, he had died as a martyr," Mirette Bakir, Ziad's sister said.
