Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in City of Salford. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. In particular the three-revert rule states that making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording and content that gains consensus among editors. If unsuccessful, then do not edit war even if you believe you are right. Post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. - If you don't stop, you are going to get blocked under the three-revert rule. Please have a read of Wikipedia:External links to see why people are removing it. You can discuss it at Talk:City of Salford. Mr Stephen (talk) 13:02, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Your message
[edit]Thanks for your message. Please sign your messages with four tildes i.e. ~~~~ which will add your name and a timestamp. Multiple people are removing your link because it fails to meet the guidelines at Wikipedia:External links. The best place to discuss it is at Talk:City of Salford, but I advise you to read the guidelines first. Mr Stephen (talk) 13:12, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
As it's your own website you are trying to add the link to, you should also read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest as well. If the site genuinely adds to the article like some of the others do e.g. [Salford online] then there's not a problem but a site that is solely poetry from a Salford born/resident poet is far more tenuous. And calling people cretins in edit summaries won't win you many friends either, I did verify that the site still had the under construction message before removing the link on that basis.
