CardCash improvement

Hi Fisheriesmgmt, Thanks a lot for your intervention. I appreciate your taking a look at this page. Could you give some specific details about the words, expressions, statements that makes the article appear promotional? Thanks in advance. Nomurashoken (talk) 21:33, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

@Nomurashoken: Hi! I think this article is looking great already, I just had a few concerns about certain phrases that were used, which contributed to an overall tone that sounded uncomfortably like an advertisement. I've already made a few changes to the lead section, which you can see in the edit history. Basically, saying something like "CardCash has been mentioned in several notable magazines" or "[f]rom its humble origins" is essentially superfluous but also gives the article a tone that is more like an advertisement and less like an impartial article. I'd be happy to further review the article and make some changes that could improve this! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 22:04, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

I know that Anwari (actress) seems to have a little info. But think once, World's most ancient two film industries are Bollywood and Hollywood. They are making films for a century. Unlike Hollywood, Bollywood is quite less advanced. Here actor's acting records are not kept accurately. That's why many important even legendary personality's biography you won't get in the net. You go to the link I provided, you'll see that she has starred in 139 films, which isn't a trifling feat. Very less actresses can star in so much films. Her imdb profile proves that she existed, acted in 3-4 notable films also. But I didn't find her actual birthdate or deathdate or detailed informations of her career. If you want I can add her filmography. Mayank Kapadia (talk) 17:35, 23 February 2015 (UTC)User

@Mayank Kapadia: Hi! I agree with you that Anwari is important--I did some research on her after reviewing your article and was very impressed with her career. I would suggest adding more information about her role in the 1932 Punjabi film Heer Ranjha, which I would consider a very notable accomplishment. I would also recommend including information about her personal life, including her relationships to Rafiq Ghaznavi and Salma Agha. I think it would be good to also include some highlights of her filmography. Did she ever receive any awards or honors for her work? If so, that information would be important to add to the page. I would be happy to help you with this page in any way I can, please just let me know if you'd like any assistance! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 17:49, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Peter Mærsk-Møller

Hi! The Mærsk Møller family have had a huge impact on Danish industry and especially on transport, during the 20th Century. And on Danish Wiki the article on Peter is well as long as regarding his son. Today Maersk is the lagest transport company in the world, and the first generation that broke free of being employed and started a shipping line of his own, was Peter. I do at this time not know very much more. But obviosly some other editor thought he was worth a red link, in the Maersk article. I just started some hours ago and I intend to visit a library within days. I'm having some difficulties to understand the urgency. It's hardly a delicate matter, is it ? Couldn't You possibly give me a few days to see what I can find out about both Peter Mærsk Møller and his son A.P. Møller, and grandson Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller ? Boeing720 (talk) 16:25, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

@Boeing720: Hi! Thanks for this additional information on Peter Mærsk Møller. I understand that he is a person of significance, but it's important to thoroughly verify his notability with support and references. While I can see from the information you've provided that he may in fact be worthy of an article, I, and clearly an administrator as well, agreed that the article did not meet notability criteria in its current state. Of course I know that articles can be works in progress, so I would strongly recommend working on this article in your sandbox until it could reasonably pass review. Please let me know if there's any assistance I can provide as you work on this article--I'm always happy to help! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:40, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
There are two issues in the current article:
  • His name is written Peter Mærsk Møller, not Peter Mærsk-Møller (the Danish wiki page is on the correct page; see also last entry in Maersk's own FAQ). It should be moved to the correct format, and (less urgent) other articles using the wrong name format should be corrected. Notice that there are several other Danes with this name, and at least some of them use the "Mærsk-Møller" format, possibly to avoid confusion with this famous shipping family.
  • I understand why someone added the delete notice based on the current article, but this is not a case of WP:NOTINHERITED. Peter Mærsk Møller is generally recognized as one of the two founders of Maersk (not just "father of founder"). It was his company (Dampskibsselskabet Svendborg = Steamship Company Svendborg) and another company started by his son A.P. Møller (Dampskibsselskabet af 1912 = Steamship Company of 1912) that eventually transformed into the Moller–Maersk group we know today. You may also notice that the Maersk article has two people in the founders section of the infobox (Peter and his son), and lists the founding year as 1904, which was the year Dampskibsselskabet Svendborg was founded (strictly speaking, the son was also involved in founding Dampskibsselskabet Svendborg, but that's another matter). After the death of Peter in 1927, the two companies continued to be managed separately by A.P. and were only fully merged in 2003 under the grandson Mærsk Mc-Kinney. Much of this is already described correctly in Maersk#History and History of Maersk. So, while I understand the potential confusion over the Peter Mærsk Møller article in its form form, I'm sure being the co-founder of the largest transport company in the world (also top-200 of Forbes Global 2000) easily qualifies for WP:Notability. Unfortunately I do not have the time to make these corrections/updates/tweaks, but hope you (Boeing720 or someone else) will follow some of the above hints.
Regards, 62.107.213.20 (talk) 18:14, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Agree about the name, I started the article by pressing the red link at Maersk. Like You say, there is much more to add. I've done some changes, and removed the proposal (but OK based on the very first lines, I have some understanding for the proposal. (But why the hurry ?). To IP user, thanks for Your information, I will continue to improve this article aswell as A.P. Møller. Boeing720 (talk) 23:10, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

I created Backyard (disambiguation) as a disambiguation page for users looking for other uses of the term backyard. Is there certain requirements for making a disambiguation page? Thanks, Natg 19 (talk) 01:20, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Natg 19: Hi! Thanks for getting in touch! I understand that you'd like to know why I nominated Backyard (disambiguation) for deletion. First, I'd encourage you to check out this great reference page for Disambiguation pages. This will help explain the reasons to make a disambiguation page and how to go about making a page! The first sentence of this article is the most important in this situation:
"Disambiguation in Wikipedia is the process of resolving the conflicts that arise when a single term is ambiguous—when it refers to more than one topic covered by Wikipedia."
The problem with your Backyard disambiguation is that the articles you've linked to on the page aren't ambiguous. They are all, of course, related to or contain the word "Backyard", but I highly doubt that anyone would expect to get to Backyard Babies from the Backyard page. Disambiguation pages should be used when there are multiple articles that cover different uses of the same word or term (like how the Mercury disambiguation page links to the articles for Mercury (element), Mercury (mythology), and Mercury (Planet)). Do you see what I mean? Please let me know if there's any other help I can provide! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 01:36, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Help request for art notability

Is there any reference information available on notability for objects of historical significance and/or art? I'm reviewing a newly created article for Sant'Angelo Muxaro Patera and am unsure what guidelines to use when determining whether or not this object is significant enough to actually warrant an article. Thanks! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 05:51, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Artwork doesn't actually have a specific notability guideline (and thank the lord for that. The last thing we need is even more reading for newcomers!) - in the absence of one, the general guideline is the thing to run with; significant coverage in multiple published sources independent of the subject. If you look at the top of Wikipedia:Notability, there's a little box on the right which should contain all the subject-specific guidelines. Ironholds (talk) 11:19, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Re Bernard Gufler

Hello, and many thanks for your constructive note and guidance regarding my newly-created article on Bernard Gufler. Yes certainly, I shall be working on this article, as I have only just now started it, and shall build it up gradually. I have some other points/references relating to Gufler's importance/significance as a key US diplomat in the Cold War era which I shall be adding here soon. I hope this will be ok. Many thanks, regards, AsadUK200 (talk) 10:36, 25 February 2015 (UTC)AsadUK200

@AsadUK200: Hi! Thanks for reaching out. I took another look at the page and I can see that you've already started on providing more evidence for notability. I noticed that you've used footnotes to provide some notes on the article that are separate from your citations. I would suggest differentiating these notes from your citations by grouping the notes into "Notes" and "References". You can see an article on how to do that here: Grouping footnotes. Please let me know if you would like any help organizing the references for this page! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 14:28, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks I will definitely turn to you for help, as I am not entirely familiar with the formatting still. AsadUK200 (talk) 15:07, 26 February 2015 (UTC)AsadUK200
@AsadUK200: I actually just took another look at the article and it seems like you've put some potentially important information in the notes of this article. Is there any reason why the information in notes 9, 14, and 16 is not included in the main text of the article? This seems like information that is definitely worthy of including in the article itself and may not need to be relegated to a footnote. Let me know what you think! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 15:28, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bionic (musician)

Thank you for reviewing my new article. I do think he is notable enough for an article, as he performed at dozens of events and with many high profile singers and has released an album. Can you give me some advice on how to make this article acceptable? Would more references help? Thanks! --94.175.244.252 (talk) 09:36, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Contributions/94.175.244.252: Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. I understand that you'd like to know why I marked Bionic (musician) for deletion and how you could improve the page. I marked this article for deletion because, based on the information provided and sources cited in this article, Bionic does not meet the criteria for notability outlined in WP:MUSBIO. Establishing notability for a musician requires that they have "been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself". While I can see from what you've written in the article that Bionic has apparently performed at many events, you do not link to any reliable sources that support this claim. Many of your links do not actually lead to articles, rather to search result pages or, in one case, what looks like a file sharing site. These are not what we consider reliable sources. I would strongly suggest looking at a well-written article on a similar subject (like Chance the Rapper) to see what a good structure for Bionic's article would be and to get a better idea of what kind of sources establish notability. Please let me know if there's any other help I can provide! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:05, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Re: Ways to improve...

Hey there.

In regards to inline citations at Uddevalla Suffrage Association, I originally decided against using citations within most (but not all) paragraphs because frankly, it would've been strange. There is a limited amount of sources, and overusing them one after another just looks bizarre? As for other copy-editing, I'm not sure I'll be able to resolve your perceived issues, as English isn't my first language. I'd appreciate any help with that. Stamboliyski (talk) 06:37, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Stamboliyski: (talk-page stalker): it's actually standard operating procedure! Take a look at Gray's Inn or Edward Coke or..well, anything. The problem is that stacking the citations at the end of the paragraph can, in paragraphs where multiple citations are used, render it ambiguous as to which citation is for which statement. As an example, take the second paragraph in the "Growth" section; "Ture Malmgren was elected as the Association's first chairman". If I'm looking to verify that, should I be looking in Nils Hillén's work or Hansson et al? It's impossible to tell unless I'm the article's author. Ironholds (talk) 11:17, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
In many cases where there are two noted sources, the purpose was to provide multiple sources for the same statement, as to ensure it is legitimate. should each piece of information come from only one direction? In this case there is a certain danger with that – one source is the work of the Social Democrats, while msot others come from right-wing authors. Stamboliyski (talk) 13:24, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Ironholds: Can you answer the question above? I'm still figuring out the ins and outs of referencing and wouldn't want to provide incorrect information. Thanks! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 14:34, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Then that's totally fine, yes - although citations should be, as a general rule, immediately after every quote and any statement that is "challenged or likely to be challenged". Ironholds (talk) 17:13, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Cupcake Digital Inc.

I have made a number of changes to the article and feel that it is less promotional and more encyclopedic, and left the proper notes for you. You did not offer specifics so upon review I noticed that there were some claims (cited, but still perhaps unnecessary) that have been removed. But were there other issues as well that I may address to clean up the entry more? Also, another user already seems to have removed the "{{proposed deletion/dated...}}". Thanks. - war3rd (talk)

@War3rd: Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. I understand that you've made some changes to the Cupcake Digital Inc. article to make it more encyclopedic--thanks for doing this! I also noticed that Theroadislong made a number of changes to the page that have made it more neutral. I appreciate the work you've put into this page and am happy to see it looking so good now. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 01:12, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Fisheriesmgmt: Yes, I realized when I went through the history that Theroadislong had removed the "proposed deletion" tag after doing some cleanup. After making some further changes I felt it read better and more neutral. Hopefully it's clean enough that you feel it's acceptable. Interestingly, it looks like Theroadislong has a history of rescuing articles like this, so the timing was perfect. :) Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate your help. war3rd
@War3rd: No problem! I'm always happy to help. The article looks really good now--thanks for taking the time to make the changes Theroadislong and I suggested. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any other questions about this or other articles! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 15:30, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Fisheriesmgmt: Actually one thing I must be doing wrong is entering these talk entries. They don't have the timestamp. Is that something automatically generated somehow making these entries? Or do you append them manually? I feel that I'm using the "talk" feature incorrectly. Thanks! Also, one thing I noticed is that the article page URL has a period at the end, which messes up links. Is there some way to remove the period from the URL?
@War3rd: No problem! The timestamps are added as part of your signature--you can add this by clicking the icon that looks like a little pencil writing in the toolbar at the top of an editing window or just by typing four tildes (~~~~). It's important (and easy!) to sign your posts, so thanks for asking about it. As for the issue about the page URL, that's something I'm not familiar with. Try asking about this (or any) issue by posting to the Teahouse or by posting {{helpme}} and your question on your own talk page--it's a quick and easy way to get a question answered. Hope that helps! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 19:51, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Fisheriesmgmt: Perfect, thanks muchly! War3rd (talk) 21:43, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Deleted page

Why is deleted pages of Sarah Crooks? The page you've made speaks to the Canadian basketball player who has played for the national team of Canada at the World Championships and Pan American Games. Nn94 14 (talk) 18:20, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

@Nn94 14: Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. While I understand from your comment that Crooks is a notable sports figure, I nominated the Sarah Crooks article because based on the content of the page as it was when I reviewed it, there was no evidence of significance or any references on the page. Admin Coffee performed the actual deletion of the article, which means that they agreed with my judgement. I would strongly suggest working on articles in your sandbox before publishing them, as articles with very little content and without references will generally be nominated for deletion. Please let me know if there's any other assistance I can provide! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 01:12, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
You can help me by getting this page deleted because it is a duplicate of this, so this is the reason why I think it is unnecessarily to stand at Wiki. Nn94 14 (talk) 15:40, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Nn94 14: I'm not sure how familiar you are with the guidelines for how we deal with duplicate articles like these on Wikipedia, but I think you can actually "be bold" and take on these pages yourself! Have you read over the article on merging? I think that might be a good way to deal with this situation. If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to reach out to me, or post in the Teahouse for help from an experienced editor at any time. Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park

Hello, I am a novice at Wikipedia so I could use some guidance. I added Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park article yesterday. I did link it to two relevant articles: Shoreline, Washington and Boeing Creek. Perhaps I made the links incorrectly? Any quidance greatly appreciated. Thanks. Brewbooks (talk) 18:30, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

@Brewbooks: Hi! Thanks for getting in touch! I understand that you're confused about why I added the "Orphan" tag during my review. An orphan page means that there are no links to your Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park from other Wikipedia articles. Have you considered adding a link to your article in an appropriate place on the Shoreline, Washington or Boeing Creek pages? This will better integrate your article into the encyclopedia and allow users to find it from other relevant articles. Check out this page for more information on adding Wikilinks to your pages: Adding Wikilinks. Thanks for all your great work so far, and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 01:12, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Fisheriesmgmt: Thanks for the advice. I added a link from Shoreline, Washington to this article Shoreline,_Washington#Points_of_interest and a link from Boeing Creek. The links I added do show up when I run Pages that link to "Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park" Brewbooks (talk) 15:57, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Brewbooks: Great! That's exactly how to fix an orphan issue. Thanks for taking the time to make that improvement to the article. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 04:57, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

List of Robot UC episodes

Listen, this is Timothy Gay, I don't understand why you deleted my article List of Robot UC episodes, but I'm not lying, Robot UC is a YouTube cartoon show and so you will let me keep my article, I want you to search up Robot UC on YouTube. There will be 4 episodes so far. The episodes are UC Can't Remember, Frozen Robot, New Team Mates, and Destroying the Planets. Please watch them, and after you watch them, please let me keep my article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Timothy Gay (talkcontribs) 22:40, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

@Timothy Gay: Thanks for getting in touch! I understand that you'd like to know why I nominated your article "List of Robot UC episodes" for deletion. I can see that you're very passionate about this show, so I know that it's frustrating to have this article deleted. One of the great things about Wikipedia is that anyone can add new content and contribute to the project. However, it's important to remember that Wikipedia isn't just a repository of information--this means that articles have to be on notable subjects. You can read more about that here: Wikipedia:Notability. I, and the other editors who nominated your article for deletion, am concerned that this subject is not notable enough to warrant an article on Wikipedia. Have you had a chance to read over Wikipedia:Your first article? I think this will give you a really good idea of what makes a great article, and what to avoid when adding content to the encyclopedia. If you would like to try resubmitting this article, I would highly recommend working on it in your sandbox, following the guidelines I have linked to closely, and asking for another editor to review it before publication. Please feel free to let me know if there's any other help I can provide! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 23:15, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

User Ironholds have pinged you a day ago, but I guess the whole pinging thing didn't worked. So instead, I will let you know about my problem. I need a copy editor who can fix cohesion/tone part of the above articles. Will be happy to get notified if and when you will be done with those (they are albeit small).--Mishae (talk) 03:22, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Mishae: Hi! I saw that ping a few days ago but have been very busy with schoolwork and only just had a chance to review the articles you mentioned. I would be happy to copy-edit these for you, though I will probably not have free time to do so until this weekend. Will this be okay? I will leave a message on your talk page when I've finished! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 05:48, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
That's great. Kobsak is rather small, so it shouldn't take you long... The other one I am not sure.--Mishae (talk) 05:50, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
@Mishae: Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I took a look at the Kobsak Sabhavasu article and am concerned that one of your sources (to the Bangkok Post) is a dead link. I've added a comment markup to this section of the article--could you please fix this citation and remove the markup when you have done so? Can you also please look over the edits I've made to the article and let me know if there's anything else I can do? I will work on the Vasily Barkhatov article later in the weekend. Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:02, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I marked the link as dead. Never hide the text though. If the link is dead mark it as I do.--Mishae (talk) 16:08, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
@Mishae: Thanks for that helpful information! I've not had to mark a dead link before so I appreciate seeing how to do it. I'll be in touch once I've finished going over the other article! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:27, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
@Mishae: Hi! Just wanted to let you know I made some edits to the Barkhatov article. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to look at! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 22:58, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank you so much! In fact, yes, I need you to look into this article: Mikhail Agafonov. There was a major copyvio on my part, but I couldn't get rid of it because there are those plays and orchestras, which names as you know, I can't alternate.--Mishae (talk) 23:02, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
@Mishae: I noticed that you've already separated the article into sections, one of which is "Repertoire". Would it be possible to include a full list of his roles there and to use the "Career" section to highlight his most notable roles and his tenure at various theaters? This might also help reduce the bulk in the "Career" section and make the article more readable over all. I'd be happy to do it myself if it's unclear what I'm trying to suggest! Let me know what you think. Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 23:23, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm kind off getting the point. What you are saying is that I should remove roles and plays from career section and live them as is in Repertoire one. It sounds good, but then wont out readers be interested in knowing at what theatre and what role was played and in what play? Or the place is not important for a Wikipedia reader?--Mishae (talk) 01:02, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
By the way, can you be of a help here too?: Hololepta aequalis. I got informed by a bot that I have copyvio in the article but I don't see it anywhere. Like, its an insect not a BLP. My guess is that the bot was confused.--Mishae (talk) 21:01, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Ways to improve... (Drink Hunters)

Hi! I'm Gaelix, the creator of Drink Hunters page here in Wikipedia. You said: "I'm just concerned that most of your references are not independent of the band or from reliable sources.". Well, I put in just online music magazines that talk about Drink Hunters, a Celtic Punk band. I don't know what I have to do to hold my article in Wikipedia. You just put obstacles in my contribution and I'm very tired...

@Gaelix: Thanks for getting in touch. I understand how frustrating it can be to have articles deleted on Wikipedia after you've worked hard on them. I nominated your article on Drink Hunters for deletion because I do not believe that the article clearly indicates that the band meets our community standards for notability, which you can see outlined here: Notability criteria for musicians and ensembles. Please keep in mind that sources need to be independent, reliable, and non-trivial. One of your sources, celticfolkpunk.blogspot.com, for example, only briefly reviews one song by Drink Hunters on a compilation album. Another of your sources, paddyrock.com, has released a compilation album that includes a Drink Hunters track. Third-party sources must be completely independent from an artist, so this source would not be considered reliable enough to establish notability. Gaelix, I can see that you've tried to create the page for Drink Hunters before in November but that it was deleted. I would strongly suggest taking some time to read over Getting started on Wikipedia and working on this article in your sandbox to improve it before submitting it again. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:52, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
@Fisheriesmgmt: Well, I can't understand your believes, I'm sorry. If I write about a collaboration in a tribute compilation, I just put in the new as a reference. Do you think that those two news are too irrellevants for this article? Ok, leave them if you want, there are many more that talk about concerts and released albums and clips. They prove this rellevation that you think doesn't exist. I simply tried to put a reference for each deed of the band that counts with a real notice in the Internet.
Oh! And just those two sources, celticfolkpunk.blogspot.com and paddyrock.com, also released reviews of Drink Hunters' later album: "Lurking behind the Woods". [[1]][[2]] I don't know if a band must be in MTV lists to be in Wikipedia... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaelix (talkcontribs) 10:28, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
@Gaelix: Thanks for taking the time to review my feedback. I understand that you're frustrated and confused by why I tagged Drink Hunters as not meeting notability standards. I just checked my review and I actually did not nominate this article for deletion. I simply indicated that it might not meet our community guidelines. I don't know how to better explain to you that in my opinion, the article does not currently meet notability standards. I think this article could be improved and, based on the sources available and cited, meet notability criteria. This article is not currently nominated for deletion, so I would strongly suggest looking for reliable sources that are not blogs or (as in the case of paddyrock.com) affiliated with the band. I would also recommend finding articles that are not just album reviews--possibly interviews with or articles about the band? I'm happy to review any of the changes you make to this article! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:36, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Apparent copyvio in Hololepta aequalis

Hi, I think I mentioned to you about this article earlier. It got tagged with copyvio and I don't actually see it. The bot said that it might be copyvio at 60.9%. Can you go through it and sort it out? According to the bot it took references for copy right violation but I can't remove them because our users would like to know about it. So, my assumption is that the bot made a mistake, but do please go through it, because I don't know, maybe it didn't make it. Thanks.--Mishae (talk) 04:18, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

@Mishae: Thanks for getting in touch about this! I took a look at this article and I think you're right--the bot is seeing your further reading section, which is just references that you copy and pasted from another site, as copyvio. I'm going to reformat the "Further reading" section a bit because the references you copy and pasted have some errors. This will help improve the article while also eliminating the copyvio. Thanks for your work on this article and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:04, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time to review my article, I've adjusted accordingly in the temp page, so the original can be either deleted or transfer the temp over it. Not sure how to do this myself, so I'll hope you can assist in the process! Thanks again.

@Rabbit Hill Beer: Thanks for taking the time to resolve the copyvio issue in this article! Can you please make a note that you have finished rewriting the page on the article's talk page? After you've done this, a clerk or admin will be able to close the case and restore the page to normal. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! Hi

I see no-one's welcomed you :-(. Oh well. I see you've found your way around pretty well, and just thought that I'd drop you two tips: firstly, you can set up a bot to auto-archive your talk page so it doesn't get too big, and secondly, you can get you username to display with a lowercase f in some instances if you want. —George8211 / T 19:40, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

@George8211: Thanks for the welcome! I actually just realized that you're right--I don't think I ever got a traditional welcome message--but I've received lots of support from other editors in the Teahouse, help IRC, and just around the encyclopedia! And thanks for reminding me to set up a bot on my talk page--I've been meaning to but haven't gotten around to it yet. I don't mind having an uppercase "F" in my username, but it'd be cool to see how to change how it displays! Do you have any information you can pass on on how to do that? Thanks so much for your helpful advice! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 19:52, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
To get your username to display in lowercase, use
{{lowercase}}
on your userpage and talkpage. It doesn't work in things like article history, but for an example you can look at the archiving bot lowercase sigmabot III. —George8211 / T 19:59, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
@George8211: Thanks for this info! And I finally set up a bot to archive my talk page, so thanks also for the reminder to do that. Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 21:32, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
No worries! George8211 / T 21:33, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Realness

Hi, thanks for your message about RuPauls latest album, Realness. I'm having some trouble uploading an image for the arcitles album artwork, could you help me out at all? I'm pretty new around here. Thanks, Azealia911 (talk) 13:02, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

@Azealia911: Sorry it took so long for me to respond--I had a busy weekend! You can find a simple introduction to uploading images here: Introduction to uploading images. Hope that helps! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 20:11, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

List of American symphonic metal bands page deletion

you said "Simply pulled American artists from List of symphonic metal bands. Doesn't seem to warrant a separate list." then could I make a section or mark which bands are American on the original List of symphonic metal bands? i am sorry, i didn't realize that i wasn't supposed to do this. I made the list because, most of the symphonic metal bands out there are all located in Finland or Poland, so this makes symphonic metal bands originating from America not so common(almost rare). Hence my reason for creating the list. -SGA314 (talk) 14:27, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

SFBM

Well - SFBM is a "reasonably well established" mathematical technique for treating certain stochastic processes - it was introduced over a decade ago and google gives me some ~3000 hits for "SFBM fractional". On the other hand, it's not so widespread that every mathematician just sorta knows it. I, personally, didn't - so I looked it up here and found there was no page for it. So I figured someone ought to create something and started with a few pointers into the peer-reviewed literature in the hopes someone else might flesh out a "real article" how this really works (which I can't do myself exactly because I'm just trying to learn SFBM myself) thus leaving it behind as a stub.

How many articles in the scholarly literature make a topic "important"? What number of mathematicians need to cite something before it becomes encyclopedia-worthy? I don't know and am happy to defer to whoever is closer to the pulse of wikipedia. I've found what I was looking for elsewhere, so it's no skin off my nose whether there's an article here or not. But from where this field has been going lately I'm guessing that more people will look this up in the future; as it seems to be getting more popular in areas of stochastic math that have a lot of computing power to throw around (think quantitative finance or protein folding or ...) - so you may find yourself sooner or later with other people re-creating an article with that name... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iron Condor (talkcontribs) 19:25, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

@Iron Condor: Hey! Thanks for reaching out. I have to admit--I tagged SFBM for speedy deletion almost two weeks ago, so it's a little hard for me to recall the exact reason why I tagged it. Mostly likely it was for significance, which you can read more about here.
Did you know that the encyclopedia already has a page for Brownian motion? Do you think the content of the SFBM page could fit into that existing article? If so, I would strongly encourage you to add information on SFBM to this existing article, as it seems that the individual topic may not yet be notable enough for a separate page. I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 17:36, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I left a message on the talk section of the Romeo Jacques Cormier page, but in case you don't see it, I'll leave it here as well:

I am fine with this page being deleted if it doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria. I added it because it dominated the news in Atlantic Canada for at least a month while the search for the missing woman was on. This much coverage probably did not make it to the national or international level because it occurred in Moncton, New Brunswick; national media notoriously under-represents Atlantic Canada, although I note that the story has significant web presence. So while it may be that Cormier doesn't rank as an important criminal, I ask that you consider all of this in the final decision to delete the article.CoraWoolsey (talk) 00:40, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

@CoraWoolsey: Thanks for getting in touch! Thanks for giving me a little more information on Romeo Jacques Cormier. I agree--there are lots of geographic areas (and many other things) that are generally underrepresented in international media and here on Wikipedia. In this case, however, I nominated this article for deletion not because of the lack of news coverage of the subject, but because of Wikipedia's notability criteria for criminals. Basically, this guideline states that a perpetrator is notable enough for an article if the victim of the crime is a well-known figure or if the crime is particularly unusual or has received significant attention in secondary sources (i.e. not just contemporaneous news coverage).
I know it can be frustrating to have an article deleted (we've all been there!), so I'd definitely recommend checking out Wikipedia's notability guidelines if you're curious about what criteria we have for different subjects. I really look forward to seeing your future contributions to Wikipedia! Feel free to reach out if you'd ever like a hand editing--I'm always happy to help :) Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 22:50, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. In all the Romanian school books they are considered forefathers. The theory of Lucian Boia is subjective and a bit offensive. We must keep a general writing. I did not remove all, only the subjective part. What I have left is universal. They are forefathers, no need to comment more, pro-Hungarian theories and offensive to the Romanians including myself. Borsoka was kinda rude. Then, the term Roumania is still used in Britain, if you remarkt the pronunciation. The Hungarians want to link us to the Roma/Romani people aka the gypsies, that is why they keep removing it. Rumania is just an old term, not used anymore in English (I am not talking about English). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2F08:82AF:FFFF:0:0:4F71:F4C3 (talk) 17:36, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Baby I'm a Firework speedy deletion

I searched for "baby i'm a firework" on Google and it DOES show the Katy Perry song. Someone else requested speedy deletion of "baby baby baby oh" for Baby (Justin Bieber song) but another person said that the famous phrase of the Justin Bieber song is another alias. That is why I add so many alias-phrase-song redirects. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 02:34, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

@Qwertyxp2000: I understand that you're frustrated that I tagged your song lyric redirect page for deletion. In my opinion. "Baby i'm a firework" is not a plausible redirect phrase for the Katy Perry song, particularly since the lyric in the song is, in fact, "Baby you're a firework." Regardless, this is a situation that should be resolved properly. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag again. If you would like to contest the deletion, you can do so on the redirect's talk page. Thanks! Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 02:39, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
This is just because I thought I heard this. Even still, there are still plenty of Google keywords for this. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 02:40, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Some people DO write the wrong famous lyric instead of the correct one. Qwertyxp2000 (talk) 02:41, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

User name warning

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Fisheriesmgmt", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because the name implies that it may be a shared account due to having "mgmt" in its name. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 13:42, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

@Steel1943: I'd suggest taking 30 seconds to read User:Fisheriesmgmt's contributions or...y'know, search for fisheries management, and then re-evaluating. Ironholds (talk) 13:57, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
@Ironholds: I saw that this editor has constructive contributions, thus the reason I didn't go straight to WP:UAA. Cheers! Steel1943 (talk) 14:03, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
But did leave an automated warning? That seems off. Anyway; if you've searched for fisheries management you know this is fine, and so presumably resolved. Ironholds (talk) 14:58, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Since a warning (automated or not) is more formal than reporting it on an administrator's board without telling the editor, this is a problem because...? And no, I don't think this is resolved because I still don't understand it (regardless of the article referenced), and I go by the belief that "if I think this way, then I'm probably not the only one." Steel1943 (talk) 15:08, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
@Steel1943: I must admit, I never really expected my username to be an issue here! I understand that you are unclear on how the article referenced resolves this issue. I would argue that "fisheries management" is an overarching set of policies and guidelines enacted to regulate the biological and economic factors involved in the fishing industry. I think that my username is a fairly clear reference to this, and was chosen because it's just a handle I've used for a while. If you look at my contributions, you'll notice that I have never worked on (and have no interest in working on) articles related to this topic. Additionally, even if one didn't understand the direct reference to fisheries management, I do not believe that the username implies that I hold a management role in any recognizable company or organization--as, for example, "OneDirectionMgmt" or "OregonSymphonyMGMT" might. Ultimately, it's just a username! I believe my positive contributions here are pretty obvious and I'd really like to keep the username I've been working under. Fisheriesmgmt (talk) 16:57, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Fisheriesmgmt, thanks for the explanation of your username. (Also, I did review your contributions prior to posting this warning; as I stated to Ironholds above, I did a warning instead of an immediate WP:UAA post since I saw that you have been a net positive to Wikipedia during the few months you have been editing.) Just an FYI, it may be a good idea to add a short, abridged version of your explanation somewhere on your user page so oblivious editors (such as myself) don't confuse your username for a policy violation in the future. (Yes, I did immediately think that your name meant that you are employed in the management of fisheries.) Steel1943 (talk) 17:04, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
