A tag has been placed on Draft:Shi 360 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://schedule.sxsw.com/2016/events/event_MS36024. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Control copyright icon Hello Fireinjun, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:31, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for Draft:Shi_360

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia! I understand that Wikipedia can be an overwhelming place for beginners. I was reading the Draft:Shi_360 and noticed the declining reason. You need to mention in-line citations and as the current reviewer correctly said, the French page of the rapper cannot be a reliable source. Citation/references simply means - where is the information coming from? I have added 1 citation to your draft. Have a look and follow accordingly. Csgir (talk)

@Csgir: Hello, and thank you so much for the assistance. I was getting confused with the strange syntax that wikipedia uses for everything. It's like it's markdown with html tags and some json thrown in for good measure. I had been under the impression that it was going to be closer to the github style wiki formatting. Anyway, thanks again, and I hope that this time around it's not too terribly wrong. Fireinjun (talk) 06:44, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fireinjun: Happy to help. I can understand your confusion - I had experienced the same when I first started editing. BTW, I saw the draft. It still needs work. It reads like a story right now - it needs to have only facts. Do edit before it gets reviewed and possibly declined, again. Csgir (talk) 08:52, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Csgir: Okay, I'll go and make it read more neutral. Thanks for the tips. Fireinjun (talk) 08:56, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Csgir: Alright, I completely rewrote it. I figured better to make it more bare bones and factual and get it published so I can have a win I can count and I can always go and add on to it later in such a way as to keep with the neutral format. If you get a chance, can I get your feedback on it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks again Fireinjun (talk) 12:33, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Fireinjun: I copy edited the draft few moments ago. Do you have reference links for the Discography? I don't know anything about the rapper so can't comment further on the text you have written. Just ensure that whatever is written has a reference to match with. If you have more references, feel free to add. Csgir (talk) 12:48, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Csgir: Well, if I'm honest it's really hard to find a whole lot of references and data about him because I guess the majority of his work and most sites about him are in french or hebrew for the most part. I used the list that the artist gave me and tried to cross reference it against the french wikipedia page on him. I also checked another artist named subliminal (rapper) that he did a lot of collaborative work with and the single site I found of a comprehensive discography didn't match anything I had previously found, or it matched several but they're in hebrew. It's quite frustrating if I'm honest. The next issue I've had is that he is listed as having Gold and Platinum records however, Israel doesn't track them quite like the US or UK. I can't seem to find any actual evidence of it outside of statements made in interviews. Fireinjun (talk) 13:17, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Undisclosed paid editing

[edit]

If you are being paid for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must declare who is paying you, who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship. You may do this on your user page, on the talk page of affected articles, or in your edit summaries. As you have a conflict of interest, you must ensure everyone with whom you interact is aware of your paid status, in all discussions on Wikipedia pages within any namespace. If you want to use a template to disclose your COI on a talk page, place {{connected contributor (paid)}} at the top of the page, fill it in as follows, and save:

Connected contributor (paid) template
{{Connected contributor (paid)|User1=Username of the paid editor|U1-employer=Name of person/organization that is paying for the edits|U1-client= Name of client|U1-otherlinks=Insert diff to disclosure on your User page.}}

--Orange Mike | Talk 16:27, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Orangemike: I did declare it on my user page, is that incorrect? did I miss any steps? Fireinjun (talk) 16:33, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to postings by you elsewhere, somebody else paid you for some of your edits; you did not pay yourself. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:10, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Orangemike: I guess I misunderstood that part as I'm an independent contractor doing the work on behalf of Shai Haddad as a client would I fill that in like the end of this mesage? I didn't think that looked right. and I absolutely don't want to do it wrong. Please advise on what my next steps to do are so I can fully disclose everything. Fireinjun (talk)
