Hey FeralOink
Purposely adding this to the wrong spot. Could you get in touch on my talk page please? Snowysusan (talk) 10:58, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi, and thanks for your message on my talk page. Looking at this article again, and WP:WikiProject Numismatics, I agree with you that this wouldn't fall under its scope. I've been adding WikiProject templates to articles en masse, and sometimes I get a little hasty; I try to find an appropriate WikiProject for every article I come across that doesn't have one, but in this case I guessed wrongly. If I'd looked closer, I would have realised that Ven is a digital currency and Numismatics is only for physical currencies and related materials. Feel free to remove the template. (In any case, members of WikiProjects have full discretion to decide what falls within their scope, so you can always add or remove a {{WikiProject Numismatics}} template where you feel it is or isn't appropriate.) Happy editing, Robofish (talk) 22:08, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Periodic table
Thanks for the help! Everything you did was good and don't be afraid to edit the articles. The elements and articles like periodic table are watched by many people, so any big problem created by any edit would be spotted soon and corrected. I had the fun to break a template once and it was corrected within minutes, even before I spotted the disaster in the article.--Stone (talk) 09:32, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi FeralOink,
Nice to meet you! Yes, there is no plagiarism now (good). However, the relationship (or non-relationship) between the Fistula Foundation and the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital is hard to understand and perhaps needs clarifying. Asia Food Recipe
Hi FeralOink. Thanks for your review. I have taken your suggestions on board for my article, removing the first paragraph and the references to the press release. Would it be possible to take another look and leave me some feedback? - Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashley Rowe (talk • contribs) 08:14, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ashley, I just finished leaving some comments on your talk page. The changes you made are definitely an improvement! Consider the other items I mentioned. Also, verifiable references that are more specific to your website would be helpful. The surveys were done recently, and don't establish notability for your website, as they are about male versus female cooking habits in general. Images or examples of why your website is unique are important. For example: The article mentions recipes suitable for specialized dietary needs based on health and religious preference in South East Asia. That's a great feature, and notable! Some examples, or citations about the fact that you offer something unique like that would be helpful.--FeralOink (talk) 13:24, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Are you still having a problem with that edit war about a financial institution?
If so, let me know (either here on on my own talk page) the name of the article, and I'll have a look. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:08, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Helix Nebula Science Cloud
Hi, FeralOink, how are you? The person who requested to create this article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Helix Nebula Science Cloud has posted a question in Teahouse which you can find here: Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#a_sense_of_proportion. Personally I do not know lots of things related to WP:Afc, if you have time, you can have a look, Best, --Tito Dutta Message 21:47, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- Apology for not giving you the correct URL. Actually the thread was moved to talk page by someone later as they found it a statement, not a question. Anyway, glad to see you found the question (from either my or User:Aryabhatta's talk page/contribution page or Teahouse page history)! Thanks for responding there. I have informed the OP. It was not necessary, but, yesterday he left me a message at top of my talk page (I have no problem with that), so, wanted to make sure he sees your post, even if he misses it in watchlist--Tito Dutta Message 23:18, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Jewish Encyclopedia
Glad that you found my note on the JE website about the detailed publication dates of the JE.
Just to confirm: there's absolutely no objection to using any text from the JE here -- though it's always a good idea to cite where it came from; and, given that the text is now over a century old, and also has quite a strong Reform Judaism outlook (at least some of the Orthodox think so), it can be not a bad idea to check for alternative views and/or more modern scholarship on the particular topic. But it's a great resource, and many of our articles lean very heavily on it.
There's a template, {{Jewish Encyclopedia}}, which should be added to the end of an article if text from the JE has been used verbatim. There's also a set of tracking pages, WP:JE, which try to track which topics from the JE we have coverage of, with a bold-face JE added if our article draws substantially from the JE text.
Hope this helps!
All best, Jheald (talk) 07:41, 26 April 2012 (UTC) ("JH" on the JE forums).
Cold shoulder
I see you got a cold shoulder from another editor. I came across it while I was looking at something else. I wouldn't worry about it. I have found many don't respond here unless they feel a need to. This may be a common practice in WF, I do it myself sometimes.--Canoe1967 (talk) 02:48, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Category link (with regards to your post at User talk:Vague)
For your interest, to display a link to a category instead of adding the page to it, you need to put a colon before the category name, like this: [[:Category:WikiProject Finance]] -> Category:WikiProject Finance. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 20:38, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Initial Public Offering (IPO)
I have been working on this particular subject for the past few days. Much more to do, but some progress is being made IMO. But I don't have a unbiased perspective on my own edits. It is possible that there may also be issues of fact. I noticed that you have worked on this subject in the past. Your "talk" comments also indicate a working knowledge of the field. If you should get a chance to look over my shoulder, so to speak, and offer any impovements or suggestions.. I would be most grateful. Gulbenk (talk) 22:37, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Hoax animal
If an article is a hoax (i.e. based on a fraudulent reference), this needs to be brought to editors' attention, and the article either deleted, or (if the animal is notable enough as a hoax) rewritten. (See the guideline on hoax articles vs. articles about hoaxes.)
I recommend raising this issue at administrators' noticeboard, with all the relevant details. If the article is to be deleted, then - rather than speedy deletion - this should go through a full deletion debate. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 05:30, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Nationality
My nationality, according to Thai Immigration, is American, not U.S.A. --Pawyilee (talk) 13:19, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- I was criticizing neither your nor any other entity's choice for designating the nationality of USA citizens, merely informing you that Thai Immigration uses [the Thai spelling of] American for such. I'm also sorry that my intimidate family keeps feral pigs captive, but I have no control over that, either. I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.--Pawyilee (talk) 12:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- PS I'm not going to back-track to every instance, but in future I'll use the more accurate United States instead of American, as the former never describes any other United Statean, while latter could be applied to just about any Western Hemispherean; however, I won't free the pigs as there is no place left around where I live for them to feral. --Pawyilee (talk) 15:20, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Codex
The other user is very correct to remove your addition to Codex Alimentarius. The source you provided is not connected to, nor does it discuss, the Codex; thus, including it there is a violation of WP:SYN (which is part of the greater prohibition on original research). Thanks for accepting my article!!!
I'm so excited! This was my first try at Wikipedia! Thank you so much! I'll work on adding more content to the article now in the evenings.
I wanted to ask you, I had another article that I submitted on the Monterey County Board of Supervisors that, I thought was actually better and had a lot more info than the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors article, but it was rejected. Do you have any suggestions on how to have it reconsidered or how I can change it so it will be accepted? (here is the page: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Monterey County Board of Supervisors. It's ok if the answer is no. Either way, you've made this old lady's day! Thanks again! Mbay2012 (talk) 23:47, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Questions About Article Declination
Hello,
I appreciate you taking the time to review Wikipedia articles and I realize it is a volunteer position however I believe you were mistaken in some of your reasons for declination of my article on Business Intelligence Markup Language (Biml). I have addressed your reasons for declination below:
As far as usage statistics, Biml is offered for free so the number of users cannot be determined by sales data even if I had access to such information. In addition, almost all other computer language articles on Wikipedia have no mention of usage (e.g. C# and Visual Basic).
Also, I don’t understand why you pointed out Varigence’s Twitter feed as an indicator as to how long Biml has been in existence. You stated that Biml was being marketed only as of September 2012 according to social networking sites. Varigence mentions Biml in its Twitter feed in October 2011 and company blog posts in early 2011. More importantly, Wikipedia policies state that Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites are not appropriate as sources. That is why I did not cite a myriad of conversations that are available about Biml on social networking sites and forums. Why did use social networking as a reason for declination when Wikipedia guidelines say they should not be used?
I cited two published books that discuss Biml with one of the book has a full chapter devoted to Biml. You make mention of only 15 pages in the chapter but Wikipedia states that to be considered significant a reference should have a paragraph or more. A full chapter of a book consisting of 15 pages clearly meets the significance standard for Wikipedia. You also state the book is by a small private publisher and disregard it as a source. The two books I cited were published by Apress and O’Reilly. Both publishers have their own articles on Wikipedia and are very well known in the technical industry. O’Reilly is considered the industry leader for technical books. Both of these books were written by industry experts that deemed Biml important enough to include in their books about SSIS. Even though these books were published in September 2012 they were in development for several months and available for purchase on online in June 2012. However I waited to use them as references until they were physically published.
Finally, could you explain how the article is not written in a neutral tone. It is very similar to other articles about programming languages on Wikipedia the articles all mention the company who developed the language prominently in their articles (e.g. C# and Visual Basic).

Disambiguation link notification for October 17
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Flash of unstyled content, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page DOM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Greetings!
Greetings FeralOink (or, as I now like to think of you, "Whimsical Economist").
Thanks so much for your kind note and for helping out Hendrick.Chan. I've been a bit busy in the other world lately and haven't been able to provide as much guidance to new users as I would like, so it is nice to know you are out there. As for elderly and white haired, if I didn't dye it, sadly, your image wouldn't be too far off the mark. As for wise, well I believe (like James Huneker did) that daring to be a fool is the first step towards wisdom and, by that definition, I suppose I have been steadily marching toward wisdom my entire life.
I, too, have been relieved not to have seen the evil one lurking here lately. I have fallen victim to that editor's biting comments a few times and thought of leaving, but decided not to let one bully spoil something I truly enjoy.
Anyway, thanks again for your note and I hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday as well. Where I come from (Canada) Thanksgiving is celebrated in October and where I am now (Bermuda) not at all. But I am looking forward to Saturnalia!
Kind Regards, Snowysusan (talk) 11:48, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Latitude Learning submission feedback / request
Dear FeralOink.
I have edited the submission for Latitude Learning and included an additional reference from a third party evaluator, Tagoras Research, which evaluates LMSs.
I have removed any verbiage which could be interpreted as marketing jargon and strived to present a very factual, accurate submission.
I invite you to review the considerably smaller and less notable entries describing competitor LMSs such as Vitalect, SSLearn, Ning and other companies listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_learning_management_systems.
Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caldo de Gallina (talk • contribs) 17:29, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Hand-coding
Hey all :).
I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).
You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email at okeyeswikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).
If you'd like to chat with us about the research, or want live tutoring on the software, there will be an office hours session on Monday 17 December at 23:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:57, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
