- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. Otherwise that stubid bot comes along behind you after every edit and adds that unsigned tag to identify you.
- Realistically, if it's about your article, I think the ship has sailed. Even with the autobio and vanity aspects gone from the article, I don't think you could sell the notability. Fan-1967 03:32, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Not necessarily
[edit]I don't know ... may take a different approach to it at some point ... The necessary notability will come when it's time. In fact, I really am interested in contributing articles that aren't about me. I just love writing and in broadcasting full-time, it's not something I get to indulge. I read Wikipedia all the time on just about every subject imaginable and more than once I have found outright mistakes, half-truths and discrepancies that I would LOVE to correct, but not sure how to go about it. Your thoughts....
And, as an after-thought, you wrote last night that in the U.S.,there's LA, NY, Chicago ... then, everywhere else.
Don't you think that's a bit ... starchy of you??? I'll rephrase what I wrote last night in saying that there are three pop-culture, iconic U-S television shows that to this day hold an international audience: Baywatch, Dynasty and Dallas. New York has its own song, Chicago has its own Broadway production ... LA is, well LA ... But, Dallas?
To this day, Japanese tourists walk up to me whenever I have to cover a story at South Fork and ask, "Who shot JR?" And, they laugh and laugh. I just laugh with them.
But, what are they saying about Chi town? The windy city? Nothing, my friend. Not a thing.S
As much as I love Wrigley field, Lake Michigan and the Sears Tower, the folks from over the pond are coming to see South Fork, baby.
kpb —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.184.163.74 (talk) 04:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
- Somoene mentioned "who shot J.R" a few months ago in my office. Three of us in our forties all knew it. A younger woman in her thirties thought it sounded familiar. The 25-year-old guy drew a total blank. The show's been off the air for 20 years. Aside from that and the Cowboys, I don't think that Dallas is on most people's radar. I think most people would not guess that DFW is 4th largest. I suspect most people would guess Philly or Boston, but then the media tends to notice the coasts.
- As for Chicago, people mainly just know it for its size, and maybe the sports teams. The local gods here are still Michael Jordan and Da Coach. Fan-1967 04:15, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]It's what I am. So, as for the article, eh??? Take the damn thing out. It's really not a big deal. My time will come. And, when it does, I won't have to write the article.
Then, tell me again what I can do to become a legitimate contributor.
By the way, if you googled Karisa Brunken and came up with a lot of Rush Limbaugh-esque garbage? Please disregard. It was a phase. An unfortunate phase best forgotten. I have regained my sanity and have seen the error of my ways.
Thanks,
kpb —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leslie Brown (talk • contribs) 04:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
It's not on here
[edit]In the U-S, yes, it's off the radar for people younger than, say 30. But, with television in many countries still in its infancy, Dallas is still big. Go to South Fork any day of the week, and it's covered with tourists. COVERED.
And, when people think about football here, they are thinking about the Dallas Cowboys ... the Bears? Uh-uh. Nope. Sorry.
And, anyone who has ever traveled through the U.S. has probably stopped at D/FW airport and believe me, they have plenty of reason to bitch about it. It's a miserable airport. Not connecting-flight friendly in the least. But, I digress. And, for that matter, when people think of the U.S., they think of Texas. More for the legend than the reality, but still. My friend, you have been in Chicago wayyyy tooooo longggggg.
BTW ... I love Chicago and I would live there in a half a heartbeat. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leslie Brown (talk • contribs) 04:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
- I've been here six years, actually. Lived various other places. Realistically, I don't think the Cowboys are as iconic as they once were, when Landry was alive.
- Most people don't plan their contributions. They find articles that need copyedits (a lot have good content but are horribly written). Or they see a gap in the coverage that needs filled in. On some article talk pages you'll see notes about a wikiproject where people get together to weork on aricles about a certain subject, whether it's Texas, or butterflies, or madrigal singing. Fan-1967 04:24, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Creds
[edit]I don't know if you need it for would-be legitimate contributors, but I actually have a verifiable cred here and there.
I'm a 2001 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor of arts degree in political science (the name on my diploma is Karisa Lyn Phillips Brunken) and I have worked in this stinking news business for more than half my life. It's hard to believe. In fact, you can click on www.krld.com, look under staff and find my name and my stinking bio there, for what it's worth. Enjoy!
"Leslie Brown" a.d.a Kris Brunken
- Nah, we don't ask for any creds at all. One of our admins is a 14-year-old junior high kid, believe it or not. Good contributor, too. If people don't like your writing, they'll revert it mercilessly. Fan-1967 04:35, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
articles
[edit]I was reading an article on Duran Duran just for kicks. I was a big fan when I was 13. And, I read every article that came out in the teen rags ... Anyway, in the DD article, I kid you not, someone plagarized one of the articles from "Smash Hits" magazine from 22 years ago. It was incredible. I remember the quote from that far back. It was, in a word, lame.
And, the article I was reading the other day on Johnny Mathis -- it notes his personal life where he's supposedly been the defendant in paternity suits hither and dither. Maybe so, but what the article failed to mention is that in 1982, he openly admitted he's homosexual. If someone is going to write an article, I think full disclosure (without being gratuitous) is necessary. Or, just don't mention it at all. Your thoughts.

Wotton and Pressman
[edit]No Sir, you misunderstand me. I added the part on Kevin Pressman as I thought Michael Wotton was Kevin Pressman. I'm Spanish, so you must forgive me not understanding the ways of English people. Are you saying Michael Wotton isn't Kevin Pressman?
Oliver Carizzo Condé
As you'll see, I did not add the paragraph on Michael Wotton to Kevin Pressman's page, I merely added a link so people could find out more about Mr Wotton. I thought that made sense in the Wikipedia universe. I also don't see how you can be in the esteemed position of declaring people nobodies. How have you come to this assumption? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ronnierosenthal (talk • contribs) 16:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC).
- The fact that he's a nobody. No significant press coverage. If someone's only claim to fame is that some people think he looks like someone, that's as nobodyish as you can get. Please read Wikipedia:Notability (people). As for the info on Pressman, it was added by an anonymous IP six minutes before you added the link. Either (a) the IP was you or (b) by a million-to-one coincidence you found it within six minutes of it being put in. I don't believe in million-to-one coincidences. Fan-1967 16:08, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I was interested to see the page for Michael Wotton pop up - I played football against him in Spain twice, once during my time representing the Barcelona Supporters Club and once when playing for the FC Girona under 19 side. Could you let me know where it has gone? I edited the Kevin Pressman page as I remembered thinking how much Michael Wotton reminded me of him (my grandfather is English and follows Sheffield Wednesday), and all the players on the opposition team called him 'Kevin'.
Yours sincerely

- Gee, another million-to-one coincidence. Nice try, Ronnie. Fan-1967 16:24, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
That is not me but another Wotton fan. I promise. I know him though, he's in the same society.
Nobody?!
[edit]I don't even know what an IP is. But it wasn't me, nor was it a coincidence. You see your close-mindedness has let you down. It was another fan of Wotton! There are many of us who appreciate Mr Wotton and I think we should be heard. It appears you may be a little jealous of the love for Mr Wotton. Looking like people is not his only claim to fame. He is also a great goalkeeper amongst other things. How do you know his press coverage is not significant if you live in Chicago? Admittedly his profile does not stretch to the USA (yet) but he is somewhat of a local celebrity. Please put the page back up.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronnierosenthal (talk • contribs)
- Certainly, as soon as you can demonstrate that he meets the standards at Wikipedia:Notability (people). If he's such a big celebrity, you should have no problem proving that he "has been the primary subject of multiple non-trivial published works." We do have rules, and number one is that all content must be Verifiable from Reliable Sources. So, as soon as you can come up with the weblink citations that meet those standards, we'll be glad to have an article on him. Fan-1967 16:28, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
What if it's all in local newspapers and magazines?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronnierosenthal (talk • contribs)
- These days every significant paper and magazine is on the web. Besides, you claimed he enjoys massive internet popularity, so there should be huge numbers of web references.
- Bottom line: If we can't verify it, we don't print it. Absolute #1 unbreakable rule. Fan-1967 16:38, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
No Sir, you misunderstand me. I added the part on Kevin Pressman as I thought Michael Wotton was Kevin Pressman. I'm Spanish, so you must forgive me not understanding the ways of English people. Are you saying Michael Wotton isn't Kevin Pressman?
Oliver Carizzo Condé—Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.168.107.2 (talk • contribs)
Are you essentially saying then that the spoken word is no longer a valid medium of communication? It was good enough for Homer, Plato, Beowulf and Aeschylus, so why not Wikipedia?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.168.107.2 (talk • contribs)
- Because attempted hoaxes are routine here. We have no choice but to require external, independent verification. Fan-1967 17:03, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
I hope you now realise there are two of us who have an issue with the removal of Michael Wotton. I just wrote an article on Mr Wotton which was full of citations and it was deleted instantly. That is wrong, and shows people abusing their power. This is hardly the encyclopedia YOU edit. Is http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2226324418&ref=nf not good enough???—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronnierosenthal (talk • contribs)
- Two people, if in fact there are two, does not establish notability. I never saw your latest version, and I did not delete it, so I have no idea what was in it. I will note, however, that if you think a Facebook entry is worth something, you clearly did not read Wikipedia:Reliable Sources. Fan-1967 17:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Bio templates
[edit]In response to your post On articles like Mike grunerud, maybe you might want to wait a bit before creating Talk pages with the bio template? I mean, when the article consists of "So-and-so is a 14-year-old that nobody's ever heard of," the article's not likely to be around long, and adding the Talk page is one more page an admin has to delete. Just a thought. Fan-1967 18:25, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. I checked my contribution list and it does not indicate that I made any posts on Mike grunerud or Talk:Mike_grunerud. Also, I thought that the talk page and history pages were deleted with the article page is deleted and didn't realize that I was creating extra work. I'll delay tagging the talk page to give the article page a chance to first be tagged with a speedy delete. Also, I'll skip those tagged with a speedy delete where further directions on the article talk page probably won't result in saving the article. -- Jreferee 18:36, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- You can't see your contribution because I've already deleted it. I deleted four or five of these talk pages. I also moved one, as you tagged a talk page for an uncapitalized name and it didn't get moved to the proper title with the main article. It's great that you're doing this, but slow down a bit and make sure that the article's gonna last more than a few minutes. ;) -- Merope 18:50, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

if there's something thats not factual or neutral - plz point it out or edit it - so that we can take that tag off and declare it neutral.

Deletion
[edit]why are my pages still there? arent they supposed to be deleted already? --Claytheway2 17:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Articles for Deletion discussions normally run five days. Fan-1967 17:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
oh yeah. i forgot. its just kinda taunting for them to be just sitting there. --Claytheway2 18:02, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- As the author, you can request their speedy deletion. Just edit each article and add {{db-author}} at the top (above the AFD notice). An admin can delete them whenever someone gets around to it. Should be gone by the end of the day. Fan-1967 18:06, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
ok. what does the expression "per nom" mean? I saw it on the AFD.--Claytheway2 18:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's short for "I agree with the statements in the nomination". Fan-1967 18:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh ok that makes sense. You have any suggestions on what to do on Wiki? I thought of making my own stuff but we both know how that turned out. Wiki pretty much covers everything I can think of.--Claytheway2 18:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Many people start by just clicking on the "Random article" link, and start getting ideas that way. Sometimes it's as simple as fixing spelling or grammar, or seeing something that needs expanding. Fan-1967 18:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
I was just thinking and I was wondering what exactly do you do? Do you work for Wiki? If not, how can I become what you are? The people who examine and "protect the project".--Claytheway2 18:17, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- It starts with being here awhile. You have to spend some time and get to know the standards and procedures. Fan-1967 18:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Ok. What do I do once that happens? One more question, how do I add user boxes?--Claytheway2 18:26, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Once you've been around for awhile, you pick it up. As for userboxes, haven't dealt with them much myself. Might try WP:USERBOX for info. Fan-1967 18:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Please cite where I cannot delete comments on my own UserTalk. Thanks.
That isn't official policy. That's just an explanation. I'm looking for policy since it's supposedly being used against my contributions.
Speaking of policy, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest
While it does say to avoid conflict of interest, I have not infringed on any of these three accounts: Self-promotion
Conflict of interest often presents itself in the form of self-promotion, including advertising links, personal website links in articles, personal or semi-personal photos, or any other material that appears to promote the private or commercial interests of the editor adding the material, or of his associates.
Examples of these types of material include:
1. Links that appear to promote products by pointing to obscure or not particularly relevant commercial sites (commercial links). 2. Links that appear to promote otherwise obscure individuals by pointing to their personal pages 3. Biographical material that does not significantly add to the clarity or quality of the article.
All links were relevant and to information, not services. Nothing was to a personal or unreputable page, nor was any of it biographical.—Preceding unsigned comment added by St. Louis Children's Hospital (talk • contribs)
- A point which is quite irrelevant. Personal vs. business self-promotion is a meaningless distinction. Clearly, your edits are not in any way intended to benefit wikipedia, but are for the purposes of advertising. Should Lung transplantation contain a link from every single hospital that performs them? No. Should it contain a link to just one? No. Is your hospital somehow unique in performing them? No. Inappropriate link, repeated dozens of times.
- We know spam when we see it. We see it. Fan-1967 18:55, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately you are incorrect. SLCH is the largest and most active hospital in the world for pediatric lung transplants. Are you really going to withhold information from patients and families? If nothing else, it would have been more appropriate to create a list of those facilities that perform these procedures. That's well within your bounds and duties, and you owe it to patients who come to Wikipedia for information.—Preceding unsigned comment added by St. Louis Children's Hospital (talk • contribs)
- Hmmm... thirty seconds of searching found at least one hospital that performed more than you did in 2005. Certainly there are many in the same range. Nope. You're just a spammer.Fan-1967 19:14, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- And based on the accumulation of comments on your Talk page, it appears the opinion's pretty unanimous. Fan-1967 19:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think that could be a record number of warnings in such a short space of time... Budgiekiller 19:20, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- And based on the accumulation of comments on your Talk page, it appears the opinion's pretty unanimous. Fan-1967 19:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
So it's advantageous to create multiple accounts and sporadically make links? You and I would both agree that's inappropriate. But so is leaving a link with the same relevance as mine. I would suggest taking more time to look over each link, then, or educating yourself on the natured of certain institutions. No offense intended, of course.—Preceding unsigned comment added by St. Louis Children's Hospital (talk • contribs)
- None taken. The simple fact is that many of these articles have been edited repeatedly by editors with extensive knowledge in these areas. None have ever felt that the articles needed to specifically single out your institution. The only person who feels that way is an employee of that institution, who may not be the most objective judge.
- As for creating multiple accounts, it is an unfortunate fact that the way to get away with linkspamming is to stay under the radar. Fan-1967 19:36, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
So, clarification..
[edit]I did post articles straight to information, but they were taken down. I assume without the person actually looking at it?
Here's an example: information: http://www.slch.org/tabid/88/itemid/1386/Lung-Transplantation.aspx ; program: http://www.slch.org/tabid/89/itemid/200/Lung-Transplant-Program.aspx
Both were taken down by ImmortalGoddezz. Was the first link, as you said since it was information and can be accepted, taken down unnecessarily? If so, that's fine. I can update each of those pages with information regarding the procedure instead of the Center. Not a problem at all.
Explain that, please.
- Most of the links that I checked had no medical information at all, like the cystic fibrosis page. When you're doing the same thing dozens of times, realistically you're going to stop checking individual pages. I noticed in the second link you posted, the medical information is at the bottom, after the ad, easy to miss if you don't scroll down. And, the big question: Is there medical information in those links that isn't already available in the article and existing links? Fan-1967 19:59, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

its a page for a popular fan forum on the web. please help.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Littlewaxfan (talk • contribs)
- The simple answer is that there are hundreds of thousands of forums. Wikipedia is not a web directory, and does not list all of them. Our standards are at Wikipedia:Notability (web) but basically, a fan forum for one particular actress comes nowhere close.
- Notable forums have tens of thousands of members, and hundreds of thousands or millions of posts. Fan-1967 21:35, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Well, I added cited, verifiable facts to the bigfoot "article" (a charter member of ISZ and funder of the Six Rivers expedition), but you "experts" on everything wouldn't know anything but to gainsay what respected scientists have to say on this issue or that. All you know is deprecation and offhand dismissal of everything that lies beyond you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.68.72 (talk • contribs)
- I'm sorry, in trying to look through your history, between the insults, personal opinions and absolute nonsense about making salad with a Malay torture boot, I may have missed the well-cited encyclopedic edits. Fan-1967 21:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Even edits that I have effected to straight scientific or mathematical articles--trying to clear up a conceptual muddle, perhaps, in a putatively useful article that begins on a dark gray note and steadily becomes ever more obscure--someone undoes it. What a dreadful frustration. Why can you not implement some sort of hierarchy whereby people are vetted to edit articles within a given subset of categories, and attendantly classify individual articles as belonging to one or more categories?
I believe I shall post an incisively pejorative and acerbic review of Wikipedia on my Web site, and there I shall derogate you and your ilk by name--if you have the guts to identify yourself, that is, rather than go by some foolishly themed handle of "Bilbo Baggins" sort. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.68.72 (talk • contribs)
- Seems somewhat ironic coming from an editor who edits anonymously! Budgiekiller 22:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Many people have posted such reviews. Feel free. As for "vetting" editors, it goes against everything the project stands for. You clearly consider yourself an expert, so much so that you feel free to post pejorative and derogatory descriptions of others as if they were facts. There are no circumstances under which I can imagine vetting anyone to post such material. Fan-1967 22:16, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

From the version I saw
[edit]Here is a copied portion from the bio that I originally saw only less than an hour ago:
Biography
Early career
Fanning was born in Conyers, Georgia as a three-eyed pie monster, to Steven Fanning (a former rapist who now works as a hobo in Los Angeles) and Joy Fanning, who played tennis professionally. Her mother had wanted to name her "Hannah" and her father wanted to name her "Dakota"; she has always used Dakota among her friends and family. She has a sister, Elle, who is now also an actress. Fanning is of half German descent, and her last name is of Irish origin.[2] She is a Baptist, having grown up in the Southern Baptist Convention.[3]
Later on in her life, she got massive surgery to make her not a three-eyed pie monster. Fanning then began acting at the age of five after appearing with legendary musician Ray Charles in a television commercial for the Georgia State Lottery[4] and being chosen for a Tide commercial. Her first significant acting job was a guest-starring role in the NBC prime-time drama, ER, which remains one of her favorite roles ("I played a car accident victim who has leukemia. I got to wear a neck brace and nose tubes for the two days I worked.")[5]
Fanning subsequently had several guest roles on established television series, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Friends, The Practice, Spin City and Malcolm in the Middle. She also portrayed the title characters of Ally McBeal and The Ellen Show as young girls. In 2001, Fanning was chosen to star opposite Sean Penn in I Am Sam, the story of a mentally impaired man who fights for the custody of his daughter (played by Fanning). This role made Fanning the youngest person (in 2002, at age eight) ever to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, for her supporting performance. When she won the Best Young Actor/Actress award from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for the film, she was too short to reach the microphone; presenter Orlando Bloom held her up for the duration of her acceptance speech (which turned out to be quite long). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.37.172.131 (talk) 16:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC).
- The edit history is retained on all articles, and is easily viewable. The Dakota Fanning article has no such text now, and has not been updated in two days. Fan-1967 16:42, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Here is the copied link from my browser's history. I accessed this page today - it is no longer available through the Wikipedia search, but you can still reach it by copying and pasting the link. I can see for myself that the history shows no updates within the last two days - that does not mean that someone isn't redirecting the site to a false page. I'm not sure - I'm just trying to report something that seems quite wrong.

[edit]I was attempting to leave a welcome and a message at Aliakbar Kiani's talk page, but ran into an edit conflict with you, so you won. May I make a couple of suggestions? Rather than the welcome message you're using, how about using {{subst:welcomeg}}, which produces a much more attractive welcome message, with tons of links. I also hope you would tone down your warning message a bit too. If I got something likethe warning you left, I'd feel very bitten. Assuming good faith, I believe most bios are created by people who are new and unaware of Wikipedia's user page feature, and would not trouble articlespace with their bios if they knew any better. So I try to use a more gentle message, with a link to their (empty) userspace. This is my boilerplate: "If you want to include information about yourself on Wikipedia, the best place to do it is on your user page, which can be found [[User:Username here|here]]. Otherwise it will likely be deleted. On your user page, though, you are free to share as much or as little as you want about yourself. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. ~~~~" Just a thought. Always your personal call, of course. Denni talk 01:21, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- You're definitely right about the length of {{welcomeg}} - that is certainly its major drawback. I most often use it in combination with another message, so I do have concerns about whether they get to the second message. But gosh, it's just so darn pretty! Okay, I've never used the userfy tag before, and now I know why. I'll take it to template discussion and see if it can't be toned down a bit there. Thanks! Denni talk 01:35, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your assistance with the article Rev. Hooper, which as showed me what I need to do to both get it back up and to make my fathers correct the first time. I will have all the information for both before I post them the first time. Thank you.
AfD/OTRS
[edit]Regarding your comment on a recent AfD,[2] we already allow outsiders to affect our content through OTRS and OFFICE actions. I don't think that deleting one article sets a new precedent, as I doubt that other biography subjects would react in the same way as this subject has. The overall health of the project is more important than following procedure. It would be impossible to argue that we're better-off having the article, given all the problems it has caused. -Will Beback · † · 19:32, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't cause that much of a problem. OFFICE tends to delete articles because we have to (legal issues). We don't have to delete this one, so we shouldn't. Absolutely, positively, we don't want a slightest hint that Daniel Brandt can dictate our content. He would be the first to publicize it and encourage others to try the same. Now that would cause us problems. Fan-1967 19:35, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Brant
[edit]On your comments "deleting this article would mean effectively allowing an outsider to dictate content, an absolutely unacceptable precedent" the only issue I would take with this comment is that wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Anon or regisistered user or admin. No one is an 'outsider' --Brian(view my history)/(How am I doing?) 19:54, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- True. More generically, we should not allow anyone to dictate our content. Fan-1967 19:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- While I agree that telling the project as a whole that 'you will do this or else' is not something we should cater to, we still allow anyone to dictate content by editing, adding, or removing information. This is of course peer reviewed and if the edits are not in good-faith, they are reverted, however the wording did leave a bad image of 'it's us vs. them' --Brian(view my history)/(How am I doing?) 21:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
For precedent, see John Bambenek. I am convinced he copied our article on him to his website then claimed copyvio so that it would get deleted, which is what he wanted. User:Zoe|(talk) 19:55, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Jackie Robinson

[edit]This is my first day of participation in Wikipedia editing. I am assuming I am typing in a place where we could have a direct discussion of the non-notability issue you raised. Is it so?
- Certainly. However, I think the issues raised are insurmountable. Please read What Wikipedia is not. Included there: Wikipedia is not a soapbox, or publisher of original thought. It's not a place to float new ideas, or help to spread new messages. It is only for documenting notable subjects, that already have widespread exposure. This clearly fails. [edit]I want so bad to go through sex reassignment surgery i just can't until that happens because i want to be a woman i keep wishing it and dreaming it being a female makes me happy not just because i want to female clothes but because that's what i feel i ought to be a woman and was hoping i was a biological female, i just feel something went wrong during birth that i out to be boy instead ewe. IT IS A BIG LIST. THERE ARE MANY MORE. HOW THEN CAN YOU INFORM ME THAT I AM NOT ALLOWED TO ADD A PREVIOUSLY EXISTING SLUR ON THE LIST. YOU CAN'T JUSTIFY IT BY SAYING THAT IT WILL OFFEND PEOPLE. WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME? DID YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GIANT LIST OF RACIAL SLURS? PLEASE REPLY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DID THIS TO ME. WHY AM I BEING VICTIMIZED?

Robinson Page
[edit]Hey man, can you take a look at the Jackie Robinson page for me. It's displaying funky for me down where it says The Early Years and I want to make sure I didn't screw something up. It looked fine for me when I did it at work so I'm hoping I wasnt the one that screwed it up.

so your saying.................
[edit]that if i can verify the truth of this new fast spreading slang word then i can keep it on here??? if u could give me reasons, or a list of criteria it has to meet that would be great. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oilready (talk • contribs) 03:16, 29 December 2006 (UTC).
- No, you have to demonstrate that it has already grown to be notable, widely cited in Reliabel Sources. Even then, you would have to deal with the Wikipedia policy on Neologisms.
- BTW, why the new username? You didn't like being Iamrite? -- Fan-1967 03:19, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
so what you saying is....i just wanted a better name/ip
[edit]so what your saying is , is that unless its published or broadcast by an acredited newspaper, newstation, magazine etc... then its nonsense and is otherwise not factual????
o and dont think your all cool now because u realized that it was me agian. i dint think u guys would know. c'mon a monkey could figure out that if this sn edited this and then the same thing was edited or added under a differant name , that its the same person...btw monkey (nopt a racial slur) just a mammal in case u were gunna blow up in my face about it —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oilready (talk • contribs)
- Not necessarily that it's nonsense, but that it's not Verifiable, and we have an unbreakable rule on that. Without that rule, who knows what sort of nonsense would end up here. Fan-1967 03:35, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
so when do i get my reply??

hey....
[edit]so yeah im bein a dick i realize this.. having an extremely bad day so yea but if i can 1.reaserch the word moe 2.have the whole NEUTRALITY thing goin on 3.varify tha the word is being spred by three acredited resoources and thier location, time date etc.. 4.no nonsense ,vulgarity,vandalism...ex you cant help but smile when u say puppy.
which is true u have no soul (in my opinion) is you dont at least smirk at the thought of saying the word puppy..(or u could just hate dogs) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oilready (talk • contribs) 03:45, 29 December 2006 (UTC).
- First of all, three isn't "multiple" sources. Secondly, we have two other policy issues: Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms and Wikipedia is not a dictionary. In particular, it is not a slang dictionary. Slang varies all over the place, is often regional, means different things to different people of different ages or groups in different places, and changes constantly. Not an encyclopedic subject. If you want to post that kind of thing, try Urban Dictionary. That's a great site for that sort of thing. Fan-1967 03:51, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
cant figure out how to view the comment
[edit]...(explained above)...
but
[edit]this is a fact that its spread and how is three not a multiple? its three a grouple there are multiple people in that group. .........?
- Most people interpret "multiple" to mean "many". Three still falls in the range of "few". Three may mean it's spread, but not very far. Fan-1967 03:55, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]what do you do if people (whod odnt think the holocaust is real) wanna change this, thats kinda a big thing i mean they recently held a conferance on that

wow
[edit]ok so yea my spelling was bad on the last one but ive had a few too many ... ummm whu dosnt yyour site have icelantic or latin(although it is a dead language)
- There is an Icelandic Wikipedia: http://is.wikipedia.org
- As for Latin, even if a few people wanted to write articles in Latin, who would read them? It would die pretty quickly for lack of interest. Fan-1967 04:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
what
[edit]what is wikepidias stance on undserage drinking or gay marrige or cristianity or pornogrophy ....such things brought here by the devil
- Wikipedia does not take stances. It documents, from a Neutral Point of View. Fan-1967 04:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
o and oone more thing
[edit]why couldnt i put nigglet on there u have a entire page on slang with very offensive launguage on there and i cant have nigglet ...how did they prove the spaghetti nigger is a real word, if there going to have them they may as well have all of them such as durka durka _a term to desribe the pople of the sand(star wars) or arabians

question
[edit]Not trying to be rude, but how come you are allowed to freely delete articles and all that? I did it to an article that was inapropriate once and I was reprimanded by some editor. The next day, that article was deleted. How come? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ahung (talk • contribs) 05:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC).
- I don't delete articles. I tag articles that look like they should be deleted. If an admin agrees, they are deleted. The important part, of course, is understanding policy so that I tag the right articles. Fan-1967 05:52, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh right

man you are fast - please perhaps just give me some more time to create the page and flesh it out with info and links. god bless america and wikipedia - again i compliment you on being so FAST wow wikipedia sure is great like that - i am amazed all the time how quickly vandalism, errors, etc are taken off - i myself check the recent changes page often to get vandals - how else can i become involved? i just started editing pages, etc and adding stuff besides reverting vandalism - i added adopt me to my user page which is also newly created - any ideas for me??
