Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, FAcomms1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

@Rsjaffe: This is a courtesy notification that this account's username has been changed from "FAcomms1" to "Bethamc123" via a global request. If the old username was the only reason for the block, their username now complies with the username policy and the account can be unblocked. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:20, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unblocked. Thanks. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:33, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note: you must disclose your paid editing. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:35, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Blindkilde Brown

[edit]

Edit warring at Laura Blindkilde Brown isn't helping your case here, and I can understand why you have been blocked. I was hoping that after assisting with the Ella Morris photo issue that you might be willing to collaborate instead. CNC (talk) 17:53, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I think I get it the FA made a mistake. But please clean up your own mess, instead of expecting others to do it for you. The cache of [1] clearly states "Born in Sheffield, but raised in Worcester", and now you've updated it to "Born and raised in Worcester". That means you need to add this source to the article in order to verify the content you are trying to change. Thanks. CNC (talk) 21:15, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't edit warring I was just asking given the LiveScore source which linked to her being born in Sheffield didn't even say she was born in Sheffield. It's all corrected now and I've updated our own site to also say she's born in Worcester. We just want the information to be accurate. I appreciate everyone's help in ensuring it is accurate. Thanks, refrencing sources is progress here. To clarify, repeatedly restoring content when the content has been disputed (reverted) is a form of edit warring, there is no ifs or buts about that despite common misconceptions. Whether done so with good intent, or for the right reasons, is also completely irrelevant. Bold, revert, discuss is how things work here. Thanks. CNC (talk) 14:12, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok but surely you can see for the average person who's not an expert in Wikipedia that isn't common knowledge? I am just learning how this website works! Bethamc123 (talk) 11:58, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, understood. This is why I try to explain these things. As long as you are including references when making edits, so editors can verify the content, then generally you'll find few issues here. All the best. CNC (talk) 12:06, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate that - lesson learnt! Thanks so much Bethamc123 (talk) 12:07, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PS - if you're able to arrange a photo of imageless Ruby Mace, uploaded to Wikimedia Commons with Creative Commons licensing, then this would be a great sign of good faith by the way :) CNC (talk) 12:09, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've just tried to do that, and for Ella Morris as well - can you see them uploaded for use? If you can and want to use both that would be great! Bethamc123 (talk) 13:43, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! Have found them and updated both articles. If the original photo that these portraits were cropped from have copyright, then they will get removed asap I should warn you. Given the quality of these photos (with obvious media access), you may need to go through VRT to verify ownership. Hopefully someone will contact you over on Commons if needed, as any copyrighted content will disappear without question basically. For this example this image of Morris won't last long, due to the watermarked copyright... CNC (talk) 14:07, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha! They're not cropped they're just close up portraits so hopefully will be fine? Bethamc123 (talk) 15:00, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds even better if originals, as I checked google and nothing came up. If nobody can prove you don't own them, then it should be ok, metadata aside that is. CNC (talk) 15:14, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
