Paid editing
[edit]Hello Eugenioceri. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Eugenioceri. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Eugenioceri|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 20:20, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry! I replied in the wrong section! Thank you for your reply. I am not paid to edit the article in any shape of form. I’m aware of COI as I am a volunteer for the station and I have declared the COI in the page. But the station itself it’s not commercial, and I have not been paid for the edits. I did the edits after the first review as it was said it needed more references and articles, so I did it. So what can I do in this case? I feel a bit lost! Eugenioceri (talk) 21:06, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hey. Look at your user page--I put the correct template there. Theroadislong, yes COI, but not paid. Eugenioceri, it is recommended you not edit the article yourself, but it's in draft space so I don't have much of a problem with it; just keep it neutral. I do see what you need: secondary sources. Good luck. Drmies (talk) 21:09, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you for that. I did declared COI. As per secondary sources, I did put all the articles I could possibly find on google news etc. I get that sometimes the station is “mentioned” but it’s only because in that case the whole article is about things happened or said on air on the station itself. So not sure what else I could put. I did check similar radio stations on Wikipedia to try to get it in a similar way. But thank you to all of you, any help is appreciated! Eugenioceri (talk) 21:14, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Well, if it's not there, it's not there--sad, but that is the way it sometimes is. Without media coverage notability cannot be established--and this is a thing that many Wikipedia users don't always understand. Take care, Drmies (talk) 22:33, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
