Welcome!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, offline publication, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Carom 18:18, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of Mexico world heritage site
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mexico world heritage site, by Mschel, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mexico world heritage site is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mexico world heritage site, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Mexico world heritage site itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:29, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

List of stars in Hydra
... The edit to List of stars in Hydra (diff) was legitimate, but it was reverted by this bot. It is a link to the newly-created article HR 4458. — RJH (talk) 17:41, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I reverted the martinbot revert. As I don't know how to report the problem I left it "as is" - Esurnir 02:27, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. — RJH (talk) 15:04, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Spoiler Note in Ploy Article
I added a "future film" tag and "spoilers" note to the article for the Thai movie, Ploy. I am under the impression that other articles on films, books, plays, stories, etc. contain spoiler alerts when major plot revelations are present. But I noticed that you reverted my change. Am I mistaken?
Per your note that was with your reversion, some plot descriptions do not reveal major turns in the story and therefore do not contain spoilers. An example of this would be a summary provided on the back of a DVD.
Bottom line is if it's standard on Wikipedia, then it should be there. If not, then it should not... Any insight? Cheers. ask123 18:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
As for the attractiveness of the tag, there isn't anything in the manual of style that covers subjective elements (e.g. what one finds attractive or ugly). Parts of the guidelines cover simplicity and succinctness, but not "ugliness." Nonetheless, if you are concerned with the superficial aspects of a page, you should deal with them alone -- not the content as well.
I am concerned with the disclaimer itself and if it's standard in Wikipedia articles when describing a story in great detail. Simply, there are two types of descriptions that can be given. One is a detailed one, from the beginning to the end of the story. This reveals every pertinent turn of the story in an objective manner (a la the story description in the press pack one receives at a premiere or junket). The other is a merely a summary of how the story begins and gives the reader an idea of what the plot is about without delving too deeply into the second and third acts (a la the story description on the back of a DVD).
Also, there's no need for nastiness. AGF, my friend... ask123 19:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
No, rest assured, I am not a WikiWarrior. I, too, dislike "ugly" features of Wiki articles, such as misplaced images, poorly laid out sections and grammatical & spelling errors.
As for the attractiveness or "artistry" (as you put it) of my disclaimer, I only put it in that hash-mark box because I thought that was how I saw it done on other pages, and I wanted to remain consistent. Consistency is one of the most important aspects of Wikipedia, more important that attractiveness in fact. For example, sometimes an infobox of an article covers up some of the words in a section title. Or sometimes an infobox pushes the succeeding section way down, creating a big blank space. These things are certainly "ugly," by most people's opinions. Nonetheless, they remain, and if you try to change it, someone eventually reverts it. This is to maintain consistency in how each page is edited.
As for the manner of your change, I really don't care if it was a revert or an edit. The result is the same. No matter though. I will check out WP:SPOILER for the discussion on the topic and proceed accordingly. ask123 20:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Tag & Assess 2007 is now officially over, with slightly under 68,000 articles processed. The top twenty scores are as follows:
Although the drive is officially closed, existing participants can continue tagging until January 31 if they wish, with the extra tags counting towards their tally for barnstar purposes. We'd like to see what lessons can be learned from this drive, so we've set up a feedback workshop. Comments and feedback from participants and non-participants alike are very welcome and appreciated. | ||

Batch File
First off, you'll need a new name for your batch file. "rename" is a built-in DOS command, so that won't work. --LarryMac | Talk 17:10, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- try this
for /F %%i in ('dir H:\ /ad /s /b') do trid %%i\* -ae
- BUT ... the /F only works if you have Command Extensions enabled. I'm trying to remember how to check that. --LarryMac | Talk 17:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- " How can I do "two command" in a row ? like cd %%1 then followed by a del *.thumb. "
- That's when you can use the parentheses after DO. I think the first one has to be on the same line, which was one of the original problems. So....
FOR .... DO ( cd %%1 del *.thumb )
- Hope that helps. --LarryMac | Talk 17:41, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
