Rollback

Hi EnIRtpf09b. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY 22:49, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi Stuart, I hope you are a live person. I have made a huge mistake today, purely because I did not keep up with the computer age and actually had no idea who or what wikipedia was or how it works. In the clarinet world I am considered an expert on Harold Wright. I spoke to his son this morning who mentioned Harold's wiki page was looking bare and as I know so much about his dad, I agreed to add a pile of information to the page for him. I had ZERO idea that wiki was even an actual encyclopaedia. I have never used it. I just set up an account and started adding lots of information as I was told it was just a site and that anyone could do this. I now realize that WIki expected me to source everything, even though as someone who has studied Harold for 30 years, all my many interviews about him and my research are the sources. There is no-one else much out there who can quote all this on this man, because amongst clarinetists, I am considered the expert. In any case, I had no idea what I was getting into. I meant to be helpful by filling in lots of information and making a nice, informative page for him to help him and his son. That is all. It has however been nothing but a nightmare. My well intentioned offer to help his son out by filling out the page has backfired. I now discover I do not have the right to delete my new account. I also have discovered to my horror that all my edits are now visible forever more in the history. I did not know this and only made them once I realized that you would not accept the facts offered by me unless I could credit them to someone or something else other than 30 years of my own legitimate research on this gentleman. I was well intentioned and everything I offered today was fact and the truth but I deeply regret becoming involved and there is now a trail that may suggest to someone who does not know me, that I could not source what I know, or even that I promoted myself when that was not at all my intention. I included the links to the other initiatives for him to guide people to more knowledge about him. I did that for HIM, not for me. I was horrified to receive notifications that questioned my ethics, unfairly, as it turned out. Please understand I was trying to be helpful and did not realize. Please advise me how to delete the trail of edits. There must be a way as participants must have rights. Also, please advise me how to change my user name and delete the account. I do not want to proceed with the draft or any versions of it I submitted today ever or any other interactions with wikipedia contributions or editing. I want to delete what I did today and change my user name as I was not aware of what my involvement entailed. Please help me. I meant well and even though I offered helpful facts I am horrified by how this has turned out. Thank you Lucia Lucia McMahon (talk) 09:23, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
It is not possible to completely delete an account or all the contributions associated with it. However, there are other alternatives. See Deleting and merging accounts. EnIRtpf09bchat with me 09:38, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello, EnIRtpf09b! Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! See you there! Stuartyeates (talk) 08:24, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello, EnIRtpf09b,

I'm not sure what led you to move a User Sandbox to this unwieldy Draft page title. I don't think you have enough experience to be moving editors' User pages around. For one thing, you need to inform the page creator that you have moved their User page. There are "Draftify" user scripts like User:Evad37/MoveToDraft that make this easier. But never move a Sandbox that has a {{user sandbox}} tag on the page as the editor might want to work a draft in User space. Also, sandboxes do not need to be moved to Draft space to be submitted to AFC. Just always take care with page moves and be sure this is what an editor would want. Thank you. Liz Read! That warning you left for that editor--I hope you understand how inappropriate such a friendly warning is for such an edit, by someone with such a username. Please report those right away to AIV. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 15:11, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Dignity plc

Hi

i sent a total of three messages but have not heard from you. Please would you be kind enough to let me have your response. I still don’t understand why you removed the entire piece titled “criticisms “. There is proof of all the points made and I can also assure you that the two short articles in the financial Mail on Sunday are actual facts and approved by family. Please let me know your objections and what you need me to do to . I am not hugely proficient in technology but will do my best to apply what you need.

kind regards

Additions to my Wiki page

Hello, a friend of mine was trying to update my Wiki page but the edits do not seem to be happening. I am not a tech kind of person, so I managed to get to 'talk' to you to find out how we can do this. There have been updates (with references) to awards too. The entire layout has changed (which looks kind of nice!) but my Bachelor's degree info has been sadly missed....

Thank you for you co-operation.

Delete this account

I am the artist. I did not create this account and apparently I cannot control my own narrative. I want this page deleted. 2601:184:4080:17B0:B98A:7F1D:DA52:914B (talk) 16:22, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Your CSD

I noticed that you tagged a userpage with both A7 and G3. Please note that the "A" criteria for speedy deletion can only be applied to pages in the mainspace. The only CSD criteria that apply to user pages are the "U" criteria—U1, U2, and U5—and the general criteria, which apply to all pages. I also don't see how this is pure vandalism, either—it just looks like a draft article that was mistakenly created as their userpage instead of their sandbox. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 17:15, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Entering Death Dates and details from old newspapers

Hi, I am trying to add my dad's date of death into wikipedia (Derek Miller (Field Hockey)). I have given the exact reference in the official England & Wales death index as a source (there isn't anything more official) plus a reference to his Obit in a national newspaper (the DT). These have been rejected.

He was one of the great players of his generation and last time I edited I added carefully references to some of the printed newspaper cuttings which we have from 1963 and 1964. These quotes and all my named sources were also deleted by the admin.

I am therefore a bit stuck on how to add anything on my dad since all the information was printed out between 20 and about 60 years ago in newspapers. I have got screen dumps some of the various newspaper cuttings but I suppose those are copyright so I cannot source those. I tried linking to them on Dropbox but that was not allowed either. Thanks for any tips. Do Admins allow links to Newspapers.com?

Your contributed article, Minimax Pakistan

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Minimax Pakistan. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Minimax_Pakistan. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Minimax_Pakistan. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. MANISH talk 10:45, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi @TheManishPanwar. There seems to be a misunderstanding here caused by Twinkle. I was unaware that an article already existed. @Dibba tom first created the article in mainspace without any references and room for improvement. As per the latter reason, I had moved the article to Draftspace (see Draft:Minimax Pakistan), caddded to the main article a REDIRECT and nominated the main article for deletion under WP:R2. However, @Dibba tom reversed these edits. However, I thank you for nominating the article for speedy deletion and informing about the duplicate. EnIRtpf09bchat with me 13:35, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
