Editing for pay?

[edit]

Hi, your self-description on your user page as a freelance writer suggests that you may edit articles for pay. Could you clarify whether this is the case? signed, Rosguill talk 21:33, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Emmanuel Petrov moved to draftspace

[edit]

Per the above disclosure request, I'm moving Emmanuel Petrov back to draft space until it is resolved. Speedy deletion nomination of Emmanuel Petrov

[edit]

Hello Elitefutbol,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Emmanuel Petrov for deletion, because it seems to be a test. Did you know that the Wikipedia Sandbox is available for testing out edits?

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Elitefutbol

[edit]

That would be helpful. I am a medical manager with certifications in athletic training but am passionate about the sport of soccer specifically at the college level because I had the opportunity to be an assistant personal trainer at the D1 level. I saw that coverage in the USA for Division 1 athletes in the sport of soccer was lacking or virtually unexistant so I decided to write my first article. Then the pandemic hit I was not able to write for a long time because I have been managing people on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am sorry, I assumed that "free"lancer means that I write about things I am passionate about for free. Meaning I not being paid or promoted by anyone. I am sorry, English is not my first language and I thought it meant free-writer - like someone who is not being paid. I can change the description ASAP, because I am not hired or paid by anyone. I am actually in the medical profession and this is a big hobby of mine that I would like to get started in. I worked hard on the article and made sure it was well-cited with over 50 notable sources about a very good player named Emmanuel Petrov - I had a chance to see this player live last year and he was amazing. Hence, I did my research and wrote a page on him. This was my first article that I worked on for days on but now I am blocked and my article is deleted because I literally thought freelancer meant free/fan type of writing.

Request reason:

Could you help me disclose that I am not a paid editor. I am a new writer who is simply interested in covering great division 1 soccer athletes. I am in no way promoting or writing about myself for money. Thank you for your consideration. I accidently posted the article to the main page and submitted an identical draft because I was not familiar with the policy. I will use the Sandbox and Drafts next time now that I know. Thank you again.

Decline reason:

Rosguill offered condition to unblock if you agreed to not edit sports biographies, and you said you'll continue to edit sports biographies. only (talk) 10:04, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Can you explain why you've referred to yourself as a "freelance writer" both on your user page and at Draft talk:Emmanuel Petrov? signed, Rosguill talk 05:15, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I buy that explanation. You say you're a medical professional. Wikipedia has a much greater need for editors to work on medicine-related articles than college athletes. I would be willing to block you on the condition that you focus on topics other than sports biographies for some time. signed, Rosguill talk 05:43, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could you identify a few specific articles that you would like to edit? signed, Rosguill talk 06:26, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_soccer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ousseni_Bouda Essentially, every Division I who is currently or formerly an All-American will need a new article submitted. The All-Americans are the best in the country. Currently, Ousseni Bouda and Emmanuel Petrov are the youngest in the group. So it would be a good start there. For instance, the college soccer article has not been updated since July 2020 and is missing lots of information regarding alternative schedules and lots of COVID-19 precautions. There are only 2-3 conference playing right now, with the full season postponed into the Spring of 2021. Virtually none of the high level D1 soccer players have any form of coverage. That's why created one for Emmanuel Petrov as I saw him play live.
