Awards and decorations for military BLP
[edit]Hi, please refer to MOS:XMASTREE and MOS:TEXTASIMAGES and just simply list the awards and decorations for the BLP articles. Thanks. JASWE (talk) 04:15, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, if you want to simply list the awards and decorations, you should do it to all articles what contain the awards and decorations section. Because i see there are some articles such Mark Milley and others what on awards and decorations section made like that and i made that section according those articles. So, don't forbid me if there are other people who still make things like that! Elfath1421 (talk) 01:12, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
October 2023
[edit]Hello, I'm Robertsky. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Hassanudin, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! – robertsky (talk) 11:50, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, but i write content according Indonesian Wikipedia with the same article (Hassanudin) so i made that article from translate it and that article has a awards and decorations section. Elfath1421 (talk) 12:31, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- We can't cite other wikipedias as sources on enwiki, and even so, the nested table format isn't what is expected on enwiki. Simple as that. Also there are some awards listed there that are redundant in presentation. Why is there a need to show successive long service awards medals for starters? wouldn't just the final award be sufficient to denote the length of service? – robertsky (talk) 12:39, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- I disargee about that. Why? Because i see there still are several articles what the awards section made same as i made and still exist such Mark Milley, etc. So, why you forbid me when there are several article what on awards and decorations section like that? If can't like that, you shouldn't leave another article like i made. I made that section according those article. Elfath1421 (talk) 12:50, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- Well, if you say 'according to other articles', the other side can also say the same and that lists of awards is just fine like many of the other articles. I also stated that this is in contrary to MOS:TABLES. As for why it is on Mark Milley's page, it could have been grandfathered in before the visual layout exclusion was written into the guidelines. In any case, i have opened up a discussion on WP:TEAHOUSE for other editors to chime. – robertsky (talk) 13:07, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

- Also, it seems that this format isn't consistent to what's in Category:Indonesian generals, i.e. Sayidiman Suryohadiprojo, many of the other generals' BLPs. – robertsky (talk) 12:41, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- Lastly, there is a general policy against the usage of tables for visual layout on enwiki. See Wikipedia:Table dos and don'ts and WP:Manual of Style/Tables. – robertsky (talk) 12:48, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
