Image Tagging for Image:Gomez outwest.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Gomez outwest.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. License tagging for Image:Janeway original.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Janeway original.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:07, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Secondary characters in Calvin and Hobbes
Hi - why did you remove the section about Max from Secondary characters in Calvin and Hobbes without any comment on the edit? Max is definitely a valid character within the strip. --Oscarthecat 21:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- I noticed that just a few paragraphs above it was a nearly identical description, and I didn't think there needed to be two entries like that in the same article. Sorry about the lack of explanation!
Jostaberry
Hi. Thanks for adding the categories to the Jostaberry article. I'm not a very expert wikipedian, so I hope you don't mind if I ask for a little help on another couple of issues in this article... You'll see that I've used the German words for blackcurrant and gooseberry in the article. It would be nice if when clicked these words linked to the appropriate entries in the German Wikipedia (there are already English-language links further up the page, so nothing is lost), but I don't know how to do this. Also, I'm not sure how to create a taxobox for interspecific hybrids. Any help or advice you could give on either of these items would be very much appreciated. Thank you. RomanSpa 01:32, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't know how to link to the foreign-language Wikipedia pages. I would recommend looking under "Help" on the buttons on the left of your screen. Also, I've never created a taxobox myself, so I would look at some of the existing taxoboxes out there in Edit mode and see what formats are used. And no problem about the categorizing--it has become a hobby of mine in a way.
Article in need of cleanup - please assist if you can
Falconhawk (cricket) has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt the subject might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability for the relevant concerns. An example of notability guidelines can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (websites). If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Wikifying Disambiguation Pages
Just a heads-up, since I hated to undo all your work in wikifying the disambiguation page Hollow (and because you probably aren't too thrilled about it, either): disambiguation pages are never wikified, per the Manual of Style for Disambiguation Pages (see the second bullet under "Individual Entries"). This is because DAB pages are for directing lost users to the article they were looking for, and not for exploring or explaining a topic. They are one of the very few types of pages that aren't wikified. Cheers! Sanguinity 20:06, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize that particular nuance of Wikipedia.

Age category
Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:
- Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
- Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.
If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:06, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for testing your editing skills at the Wikipedia Sandbox - it is important for new users to learn how to use Wikipedia and its functions; however when editing their please do not remove the Sandbox header because this is vital in letting other users aware that they can freely edit the page and they are at the right place for their editing tests too. Stub/category placements
I wasn't aware that stub templates go above categories. AWB places them below. - Dudesleeper · Talk 17:52, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup on MOVAPD?
Hi! I was wondering what cleanup you think is required on MOVAPD. « D. Trebbien (talk) 2007 May 28 21:10 (UTC)
- It seems a little disjointed, with the sections needing a little better definition. Then near the bottom, there are all those "red links" that don't go anywhere in Wikipedia--perhaps they could be linked to other Internet pages. The article also needs a category other than just a stub. Now I don't claim to be any kind of expert on the topic, so that's why I didn't make any comments about the actual content. Sorry for any confusion! Egpetersen 17:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Sources on Better World Books
Hello Egpetersen, I found you placed an 'unsourced' tag on this article in November, 2006. If you look at its history, you may see that some users systematically eliminated critical views of this enterprise, thereby omitting the references, too. I explained this on the talk page and reinstated the latest critical version with some added remarks, and an extra reference. Not being a native English speaker, I always feel a little unsure of myself doing this. Please have a look at the article and see if the tag may be removed. Soczyczi 09:29, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Flag of Lewis
A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Flag of Lewis, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Tagging w/o comment
I know this is going to sound annoying, but every attempt to make it not sound that way in the past made matters worse, so: PLEASE put an edit summary in when tagging articles! You recently tagged Foto-Mem with a wikify, but I have no idea what you would like me to do to fix it. I can't know unless you tell me! Maury 21:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

DEFAULTSORT
Hey there, your removal of {{DEFAULTSORT}} (in some of the bio articles you are adding categories to, like Lisa de Cazotte) is inappropriate; perhaps you are unaware that it does the name thing as listing "|De Cazotte, Lisa" after every single category, and that its use is preferred. TAnthony 04:21, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'll keep that in mind. Egpetersen 11:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I deleted your copy & paste move of Truganini (song) and moved the article instead. To fix the name of the article one should use the "move" button instead of copy & paste, also for GFDL reasons. See meta:Help:Moving a page . Also a request, could you please use edit summaries, that really helps other editors who have articles on their watchlist. Happy editing, Garion96 (talk) 15:44, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Just FYI, I generally only type out edit summaries when there's something that isn't already said in the tag I'm placing on the article. I don't see any reason to type in "no sources listed" in the edit summary when a tag at the top of the article says it all. No offense intended here, just common sense. However, if I put a "peacock" tag or something there I'll try to give a little description of the problem...if I remember. :) Egpetersen 20:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I never noticed that "move" button at the top. I'll use that from now on if the need arises. Egpetersen 20:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Edit summaries would be appreciated. If I have an article on my watchlist and I see an edit without an summary I want to see what was done. If I see an edit summary like "added unref tag" I don't need to open the article to see what was done. Garion96 (talk) 22:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
cat for English Madrigals
I see you've put Now is the month of maying in 16th c songs- technically OK, but many English Madrigals, including some of the most important by Morley, were published after that date (some as late as 1622) See my comment on the category talk page. Is it really sensible to split 'em?? I think not. Bob aka Linuxlad 11:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- I mainly did that because it had no category except stub...if it's not the best category, maybe just make it a generic "folk songs" category. Egpetersen 19:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well er, they're not folk songs either (at least not in their definitive form). I think they deserve their own cat - English Madrigals - there are easily a few hundred I suspect (the Oxford Book of English Madrigals, a selection, contains full settings of 60 of them). I'll look how I did 'Renaissance chansons'. Bob aka Linuxlad 11:18, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:TheFlamingLips-YoshimiBattlesThePinkRobots.jpg
Image:TheFlamingLips-YoshimiBattlesThePinkRobots.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:Verve pipe self titled album.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Image copyright problem with Image:Platinum gold collection verve pipe.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Platinum gold collection verve pipe.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kellie's Castle, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page William Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
