An invitation
[edit]Hello again Edmund. I saw all the work you put into the Austria molluscs list, thank you! It looks as if maybe you are particularly interested in molluscs? Here on Wikipedia there is a group of contributors who are active in increasing the coverage in the encyclopedia on topics relating to gastropods. So I am giving you this invitation, hoping it might perhaps be something for you to take a look at.
I've noticed your edits on pages relating to Gastropods; perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Gastropods? If you would like more information, please visit the project page or the project talk page. |
All good wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 14:56, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invitation, I will have a look at your project! Indeed, I´m particularly interested in land gastropods, but there is still a lot to learn for me. But please notice, that I will not be permanetly active. I just use Wikipedia as a hobby when I´m annoyed by my PhD study (most especially by biomathematics) ;-)--Edmund Sackbauer (talk) 07:42, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Yay!
[edit]Welcome!
A very big WELCOME to WikiProject Gastropods for you, Edmund Sackbauer, a new member! We are delighted that you decided to join the Project! Thank you. I hope it will be interesting for you. Please feel free to ask questions or leave comments on the project page. All good wishes from all the slugs and snails! Invertzoo (talk) 21:29, 17 February 2010 (UTC) |
Whatever time you can spare us will be very welcome, even if it is not that often. We have a member who is very active indeed in land gastropods on Wikipedia and that is User:Snek01, who is in the Czech Republic. I live in NYC. I really like land snails and slugs too, I did a lot of field work with them in the UK back in the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately New York City is built on acidic rock so we do not have very many land snails here. Are you somewhere where there is limestone?
Best wishes and please feel free to ask me any questions about Wikipedia, Invertzoo (talk) 21:29, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I´m live near the limestone zone of the Wienerwald. I really admire the British and Czech Malacologists, as they seem to form homogenous groups (in opposite to Austria). And be sure I will ask some questions, soon :-) --Edmund Sackbauer (talk) 10:44, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ah I bet you can find great species diversity in the limestone part of the Vienna Woods! You are fortunate. Invertzoo (talk) 23:30, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
World Congress of Malacology this July in Phuket
[edit]Hello there Edmund! Since you're going to the congress, would it be too inconvenient of me to ask you to get some images of Strombus canarium, in case the opportunity pops up (don't know what are the chances of that happening, but who knows, maybe you will be eating conch soup in a local restaurant...)? A picture of the actual animal would be an awesome addition to the article, and I would be forever grateful. Best wishes!--Daniel Cavallari (talk) 21:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Daniel! I´ll see what I can do, as I want to see at least a little of that area. Hanging around in congress rooms all the time is too hard stuff for me ;)--Edmund Sackbauer (talk) 06:58, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Invitation to help assess Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods
[edit]Hi. I am inviting members of some WikiProjects to take part in evaluating their projects in order to help the Wikimedia Foundation better understand such projects from the inside, to encourage reflection on best practices, and to compile a list of best practices as recommended by a number of projects. I am contacting you because you are listed as an active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods. Having witnessed that project's work in the past in my volunteer capacity, I'd very much like to include it. I hope that you will have time and interest in participating. As much or as little as you would like to supply would be gratefully received. The assessment questions are posted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods/Self-assessment. I will myself steer clear of the page until after any discussion seems to have become dormant, at which point I will ask questions to make sure that I am developing a good overview of opinions. Thanks. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 13:03, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of non-marine molluscs of the Czech Republic may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
