2003 Coca Cola Tigers season

Some tips to help you out!
[edit]Hi Edmon74, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)
First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.
Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Edmon74/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.
For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).
Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.
Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.
One last thing to keep as a motto: "It's better to write one good, well-referenced, nicely-presented article than it is to create fifty unreferenced one-line stubs!" Pesky (talk …stalk!) 10:43, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
How references work
[edit]Simple references
[edit]These require two parts;
- a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
- b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References == {{reflist}}
(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)
To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Edmon74/reftest and try it out.
Named references
[edit]Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>
Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.
Citation templates
[edit]You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;
Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4 }} </ref>
Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.
For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.
Here's a little bit of magic which can save you an awful lot of time and effort!
[edit]You might want to consider using this tool - (tools:~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py) - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well all by itself. For those it can't do by itself, it gives you a pull-down (or up) menu of templates to choose from, which you can then fill in manually. Often the problem is "No title found" - sometimes the title is obvious (especially if it's a pdf), bit, if not, just open the page yourself and choose something appropriate if there's not already a clear title there. Happy editing! Pesky (talk …stalk!) 10:43, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175
[edit]Dear Edmon74,
Greetings!
As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.
Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.
Thank you and maraming salamat po!
Kind regards,
Sky Harbor (talk) 04:52, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

A page you started has been reviewed!
[edit]Thanks for creating 1980 Galleon Shippers season, Edmon74!
Wikipedia editor Dictioneer just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
Good start, a little adjustment to verb tense would improve the article. It would be better written in the past tense rather than present and future tenses.

Hello Edmon74, I'd like to ask you a question mate. You wrote this article about Byron Jones (1973 NBA draft) and it seems you know a lot of things about him. There was a player named Byron Jones that played for Olympiacos B.C. in the season 1973-1974. He played for Olympiacos in their 1973-1974 European campaign in Saporta Cup along with Charlie Yelverton. Yelverton and Jones where actually the first foreign players that ever played for Olympiacos. So the question is this: Is this Byron Jones (basketball) the Byron Jones I'm looking for? Do you know if this guy ever played in Europe and particularly in Greece for Olympiacos? Do you have any way to find that out? All the evidence favours the fact that we're talking about the same guy. He was drafted in 1973, never played for Boston Celtics, and it seems quite probable that he came to Europe to play. The article says that he was sent to Israel at first. Anyway, I'd really appreciate any help you can give me on this. Thank you so much for your attention. I'm looking forward to reading your answer. Gtrbolivar (talk) 14:56, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Byron Jones
[edit]Thank you so much Edmon74. You know, all the evidence indicates that he is the same player. Especially the fact the he was drafted in 1973 and never played in the NBA is very indicative. I'd be very surprised if there was another player with the same name at the same time (exactly after the 1973 draft, season 1973-74) who played in the Saporta Cup campaign of Olympiacos. The fact that he left the US to play in Israel is another clear indication. It's quite possible that he left Israel and came to Greece to play for a European competition. I have to tell you man, it was quite difficult to find his first name. In greek sources he is known simply as "Jones", with no background given whatsoever. I found out his first name in an old sports newspaper. It says (quote): "Charlie Yelverton and Byron Jones are the two American players of Olympiacos.(...) Byron Jones, the big fellow, is a very funny and tall guy (around 2.06m) who always likes to joke around and wants to play basketball all the time, even when he's sleeping." This is dated 18 November 1973. Who knows, maybe he is our guy maybe he isn't. I'll surely be looking forward to your response with great expectations man. Gtrbolivar (talk) 12:06, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi Edmon74. I noticed that you added a lot of information to the Ramon Campos, Jr. article, but did not include a source. [edit]Alaska-Magnolia rivalry, Magnolia-San Miguel rivalry and now Alaska-San Miguel rivalry, it would be better if the wikipedia administrators would nominate for deletion as well the Ginebra-Shell rivalry and Purefoods-Swift rivalry. Edmon74 00:49, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]2006–07 Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants season moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, 2006–07 Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. [edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 1988 Añejo Rum 65ers season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jamie Waller. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The insistence of Arturo Valenzona as Swift/Sunkist assistant coach
[edit]There seem to be an insistence on PBA three-time champion coach Arturo Valenzona as being an assistant coach to either Yeng Guiao or Derrick Pumaren at Sarsi/Swift/Sunkist franchise during the 1990s. For the record, Valenzona became coach of the ballclub for a brief time only in the 1997 Commissioners Cup, what's with the obsession of those who keeps editing and putting his name as an assistant coach of the RFM franchise in the PBA. There are lots of available videos of Swift/Sunkist games and he won't even be find sitting on the bench and the PBA annuals itself had no reference to Valenzona as being an assistant coach to the RFM ballclub from 1990-1996, please stop Edmon74 (talk) 06:34, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
