NowCommons: File:MinneapolisStandishNeighborhood.PNG

[edit]

File:MinneapolisStandishNeighborhood.PNG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:MinneapolisStandishNeighborhood.PNG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:MinneapolisStandishNeighborhood.PNG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 13:56, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I think your moving of the pages for Central Link's stations was erroneous, and I ask you to change it back (from the newUniversity Street (Link station) to the old University Street Station (Link station)) Though the repetition of the word "station" is somewhat awkward, it is necessary to fulfill the WP:TITLE MoS guidelines. WP:TITLE states that titles should be:

  • Recognizable – Using names and terms most commonly used in reliable sources, and so most likely to be recognized, for the topic of the article.
  • Easy to find – Using names and terms that readers are most likely to look for in order to find the article (and to which editors will most naturally link from other articles).
  • Precise – Using names and terms that are precise, but only as precise as is necessary to identify the topic of the article unambiguously.
  • Concise – Using names and terms that are brief and to the point. (Even when disambiguation is necessary, keep that part brief.)
  • Consistent – Using names and terms that follow the same pattern as those of other similar articles.

The University Street Station (Link station) convention follows these guidelines better than the University Street (Link station) convention:

  • It uses the most commonly used name for the station. Sound Transit uses the word Station in its pages for the stations (as seen here).
  • It uses the name users are most likely to look for. Users will often not predict that there will be the (Link station) following the shortened station names, so maintaining the first "station" is useful for those who want to distinguish between the station and the myriad other things (shopping centers, streets, neighborhoods, cities) that share names with the stations.
  • It uses brief names to the extent possible. The University Street Station component should be present, as it is the common name and the most likely thought-of name by users. The (Link station) component is as concise as it can be while maintaining precision.
  • It is difficult to choose a naming pattern that is consistent with similar articles outside the Central Link system because there are many conflicting and different conventions used on different systems. However, the University Street Station (Link station) convention is consistent with the vast majority of, if not all, other Link articles on Wikipedia, including the many that are only planned and proposed at this time.

I ask that you move the pages back to their previous titles. YB3 (t) 08:25, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Source for population updates

[edit]

Hi - What source (or sources) are you using for the population updates you've made recently? When updating a sourced fact like this, deleting the previous source is fine but you really shouldn't make an update to a fact without also updating the source. If you could go back and add the reference(s) that would be very helpful. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 18:05, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 21:38, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you have edited Metro Walk and this article is currently under a contentious debate on a possible merger or deletion, your opinion on the matter and content might be useful in resolving the issues and reaching consensus, perhaps you would then like to do so at your convenience. Wikitravel

[edit]

Hopefully you are the same user as [1]. If so, since you have been making edits on Wikitravel I wanted to let you know that due to a lack of patrolling and an increase in spam, English Wikitravel content is no longer being backed up by our spider. If you have specific articles you are patrolling and would like to see spidered please let me know, but otherwise any edits made to Wikitravel after 02-August will be lost if/when the move to a Wikimedia travel site occurs. If you have any questions let me know on my talk page here, or you can email me. -- Wrh2 (talk) 03:21, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Iranophobia

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Iranophobia. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Anti-Iranian sentiment. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Anti-Iranian sentiment – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. GabrielF (talk) 00:10, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a photo

[edit]

Greetings, Eco84. I'm sorry, I confused you with User:Eóin. I wonder if you would give me your opinion about the use of a picture of North Commons Park in Minneapolis Neighborhoods. I always liked it, and it has been around for more than a decade, but we received an objection I can't explain. Can you come up with a different photo that says "neighborhoods of Minneapolis" that I could swap in place of North Commons Park? We have until January 2023 when featured article review will begin. Some excellent advice I got earlier this year is to just let this editor have his way with images. Then we'll sort this out in January or February. From Flickr, would any one of these be better?

They'd probably all have to have the same caption (...one of the 83 neighborhoods of Minneapolis). -SusanLesch (talk) 23:04, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you would weigh in on the discussion at Talk:Minneapolis. -SusanLesch (talk) 16:48, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This was resolved on the Minneapolis talk page. Thanks anyway. -SusanLesch (talk) 00:05, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started
